Hotel zum Kronprinzen in Oberwesel

We booked this place for one night via the hotel official website. I have not received any confirmation for the booking - hence I have called the reception. Lovely lady in german put me on hold and the hotel owner and chef talked to me moments later in English. He confirmed that the booking is fine including our dog 🐕. I have asked until the restaurant is open - since there is nothing else in the village. He said that they take last orders by 19:15. So far so good.

What then happened upon our arrival was rather unexpected.

I have to admit - we have walked inside the reception/restaurant/bar 19:30 - which was 15 min late. The lovely lady from phone call before, was present but still not a word in english, fortunately her younger colleague was able to communicate with me. I have apologized for late arrival and asked if we still can order a dinner. She had to ask in the kitchen - which resulted in stream of german harsh profanities from behind the door. She came back looking worried and offered us table nonthless.

We were presented with menu containing just fine dining options consisting of 3-5 courses costing up to 80EUR. When I asked for english transaltion the poor girl had to apologize that only German card exist in this "luxurious" establishment. That was the moment where we decided, that we will only check in, drop our stuff and will drive to next-door town for dinner.

I have explained her that the restaurant is not for us. and that we will skip the diner and just check in.

At this moment the source of the german rude language emerged from kitchen - saying "there is a problem". Which I first understood as grammatically incorrect question. But he really meant it as a statement - since he got so mad that we are not going to spend 200EUR on his fabulous menu without even understanding what it has to offer, that he decided to throw us out - and used for it the lamest excuse - our dog. Apparently there are no more rooms able to catering for pets hence our reservation is immediately canceled and good by. When I asked how is that possible - the lovely lady stepped in with very welcoming "wir sind in Deutschland, sprechen Deutsch"! And that was the end of the conversation. So we were hungry without lodging and really disappointed with this "Michelin star" hospitality.

Fortunately they didn't charged us any money (so far). And we have discovered rather lovely city of Bad Kreuznach - where we have done last minute booking in pleasant BC Hotel. And had a dinner - served, surprise surprise, at 9pm.

I wish all the best to the wierd and wild people running the Landhotel "Zum Kronprinzen" - and hope to never ever meet you again.

We got the wierdest e-mail when we left. So because of that only 1 star.

We had to drive home 8 hours so wanted to leave early. We where checked out.. So we did not leave without a word....
Also we should have breakfast included yet you charged us.
Then I asked proof. If the dog did pee (What he has never done before) I am willing to pay the cleaning cost. Accidents happen.
But you where not descent in your mail towards us. And didn't reply at after I asked for it.. You should be descent towards your customers.
So I still ask you to send proof, the bill that you have not send. And give us back the money for the breakfast. Shame you did not just mail me but talk to me only in the reviews.
