Nymphe Strandhotel & Apartments in Binz

Be warned! While the room and location was wonderful we had an unfortunate experience that put a damper on the trip. Despite having a ‘ do not disturb/service’ sign on our door because of our pet inside the room, two young members of cleaning staff entered our room and stole some items. We could not prove this but it was very obvious. The hotel management did not reimburse us or apologize and we would expect a more professional and trustworthy staff from a 4 star hotel.

We also were fully charged for the pet service fee upon departure despite the experience mentioned above.

We did not feel comfortably safe with our stuff and pet inside the room as a result.

We had a weird experience during check-out: we have been told we didn’t inform that we stay with a dog and the person on reception doesn’t see this in the system. Problem 1: there is no info/ask whatsoever on the hotel page of booking.com or their email or any other communications, that we have to inform about the dog during booking. Also they promote themselves as a very dog friendly hotel. Problem 2: during our check-in the employee who checked us in seen the dog, explained how we behave with the dog in the hotel, welcomed the dog, and explicitly told us everywhere we are welcome with the dog. So the hotel staff knew we have a dog from the time we arrived, but apparently didn’t put it in the system, nor explained the costs of the dog in the room, etc. Problem 3: the way the employee spoke to us during a check-out made me feel lectioned: when I said there was no information from them how do I have to inform about the dog during a booking process - I was told, that in “every hotel you have to write or call” before arrival. Which is not true and I don’t appreciate being lectured how I should behave in every hotel in the whole world. My remark that we went through check-in process and “your colleague seen we have a dog and could put it in your system” I have been told “I don’t know what was check-in, now I didn’t see it in the system” and it is a problem. So no responsibility been taken for the check-in process whatsoever, like I have been checked-in to a completely different hotel.

Now I read in the reviews that people with dogs previously received the dog bowl and some dog basket, which now I understand we paid for but never received.

We were quite please with the hotel, cleaningness, restaurant, and experience with the dog overall, but all before the check-out. These last minutes on reception ruined the impression. We will not come back.
