Hotel Unique Dortmund Hauptbahnhof in Dortmund

I checked in alone around 6:00 PM on Monday. The room was reasonably clean and the staff were friendly at first, so everything seemed fine. However, things took a very unpleasant turn later that night.

A little after 8 PM, the power in my room suddenly shut off without warning, then came back about 10 seconds later. I tried to brush it off, but around 9 PM, something far more alarming happened: someone unlocked and opened my door from the outside with a room key. I saw another guest standing in the doorway, clearly just as confused as I was.

I went down to the front desk to ask what was going on. The staff kept apologizing and said the person who handled my check-in failed to properly enter my information into the system. I was also told that I would be contacted by the staff member responsible when I checked out the next morning.

However, when I checked out around 9 AM the next day, a different staff member was present. He said he was aware of the situation but did not have the authority to handle it. In the end, all I ever received was verbal apologies from various staff members—no explanation or follow-up from the person who checked me in, and no contact from any manager.

Overall, this was a terrible experience. If you’re looking for a haunted-house adventure, this hotel might be a good choice. But if you’re hoping for a safe, restful night, I’d strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
