Hotel Esplanade in Dortmund

I was allowed to stay at this beautiful hotel as part of an administrative assistance program. This hotel perfectly captures the feel and atmosphere of the Ruhr area. The location in Dortmund-Mitte is excellent, and the rooms are excellent. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and always attentive. I would be happy to return privately.

The hotel is centrally located in Dortmund, a perfect base for the Christmas market, and includes a generous breakfast.
The rooms are spotless.
The wellness facilities are a nice bonus.
We will definitely be back.

I stayed at this hotel during InterTabac 2025, and overall, it was a delightful experience, largely due to the exceptional staff and enjoyable amenities.

If I could rate the hotel associates alone, I’d give them 6 out of 5 stars. Upon arriving an hour early, I was warmly greeted by Mia at the front desk, who had my apartment ready and took the time to explain all the hotel facilities in detail with a genuine smile, providing clear directions to my apartment. The other lady on shift with Mia was equally impressive super friendly, professional, and handled my concerns like a pro, showing genuine care and attentiveness. I was booked in an apartment rather than a standard hotel room, which included a convenient kitchenette and ample space.

When I entered the apartment for the first time, I noticed the king-size bed was made up of two mattresses pushed together, with a gap between them which I found uncomfortable due to my size. I mentioned this to the lady at reception, and she promptly sent housekeeping, who resolved the issue by adding a high-quality mattress topper, making the bed much more comfortable.

The breakfast buffet was a highlight of the stay, offering a great variety of delicious options. Christian in the restaurant was incredibly friendly, enhancing the morning experience with his warm service. Additionally, the barman at the hotel bar—blond with curly hair was fantastic, creating a welcoming atmosphere with his skillful service.

However, some maintenance issues need attention. The bathroom light in the apartment wasn’t working upon arrival, and the internet signal struggled to reach the room. I reported these to reception, and the staff promptly resolved them the next day. Unfortunately, during my five-night stay, the apartment was not serviced at all. No cleaning, no bin emptying (despite kitchen waste), and no fresh linens or towels. This was surprising for an extended stay and impacted the overall comfort.

Despite these facility shortcomings, the exceptional warmth and professionalism of the staff, particularly Mia, her colleague, Christian, and the barman, along with the excellent breakfast buffet and quick resolution to few issues, made the stay truly enjoyable. With improvements to housekeeping and maintenance, I would recommend it.

I had an apartment with a kitchenette for 1 week at the Esplanade. Since I didn't have a car, it was convenient--only about 3 blocks from the Hauptbahnhof and a couple of blocks from the central pedestrian zone. The property itself was attractive with a pleasant breakfast area and a nice enclosed central courtyard. The staff was also quite friendly and attentive. The sauna was a very nice, unexpected benefit at the end of tiring days. An excellent option in central Dortmund!

We felt really comfortable; everyone was super nice, from the concierge to the service staff and reception. It was about a 5-8 minute walk from the main train station and easy to find. The breakfast was delicious; they kept refilling it, even right before closing time. The hotel's dog, Flora, did the best job :-) The room was very nice and clean!!! Beautiful courtyard and delicious gins at the bar. This is now our favorite hotel in Dortmund. We highly recommend it.

We booked this hotel for a Euro 2024 match and it ended being a great choice. The staff at this hotel is super friendly and they genuinely care about your stay making sure you have everything you need. The rooms were a good size, beds were comfortable and if you choose to eat at the hotel they have some great food too. It's quick ride to the stadium but I only know that from google maps as we choose to walk the distance everyday. It's a great walk and you go right through the city center so if you time it right you can walk for 15-20 stop somewhere for a bite or some beers and walk the rest. Weather you're coming here for a soccer match or just to visit the lovely city of Dortmund you won't be disappointed if you stay here. They even left a hand written card and some treats in the room for us, while not a huge deal, you can tell everything about this place has that level of care tied to it. Book with confidence and have a great time :)
