I was at the Ibis hotel a couple of years ago and I must say I was skeptical because my last stay was not that good, mostly because the rooms were so old and looked dirty. But since then, a renovation took place and the rooms look much better, are well kept, clean, no mold in the bathroom and no unpleasant smell. Of course the space is limited but for 1 person or a couple is nice and cozy. I love that the toilet has a window instead of the usual indoor ventilation system found elsewhere!
The only thing, I wish the mattress was softer as it caused me some back pain and discomfort during both nights I slept there, but this is just my personal preference.

On the location, there's not much to say apart that it's extremely convenient. We arrived with Flixbus and the stop was less than 5 minutes away. Busses and tramways to reach the Castle or pretty much anything in town and beyond, are just across the street. Bakeries and food courts can be found inside the main train station and they are open until late (some even at 10pm) and on Sundays. The downside is, of course, the type of people roaming around the area: sketchy men can be seen around the station but since this is a worldwide phenomenon, the hotel really cannot do anything about that. I liked that there was at least one person standing at the front desk at any time of the day and night.

Now regarding the staff: we didn't have many chances or reasons to interact with them, but from what we could see everyone was nice, polite and helpful. I especially loved the fact that we were allowed to sit in the breakfast area after purchasing take away food, dine in peace and comfort instead of being cramped in our room.

Heidelberg is one of my favourite cities in Germany so I am looking forward to stay at this hotel again in the future!

Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Hotel is not air conditioned, which is not unusual. Was able to open windows. Hotel was right next to train station which was nice. Overall, nice, comfortable hotel.

Good location, but be careful the street in front, there are some illegal people exchanging things there

The hotel is next to the train station but there is an abandoned big shop in between the station and hotel. Walking to the hotel at night can be dangerous for solo traveller, in front of the place is a car park, and many stranger and homeless people is around the station.
However, the bus and tram station is also next to the main station, it make it very convenient to the market.
The room is smelly (not smoking smell) , not sure what it is.
Front desk staff is helpful and allowed to store luggage during checkout.

My partner and I stayed here for a 1 night visit whilst exploring Heidelberg. Very convenient location right next to the hauptbahnhof. Rooms were lovely, clean and quite quiet considering we were right next door to the train station.

The staff were lovely at every interaction, including check in, breakfast and getting drinks from the reception area. They even let us store our luggage before check in and after check out so we could explore Heidelberg stress and luggage free!

The only part that knocks it down is the breakfast. Not many vegetarian or vegan options other than fruit & bread. Nothing warm. There is a small selection of warmed food such as sausage and egg but everything else is fruit or cold items. Overall the breakfast was good, but more vegan/warm food needed!

Overall: 10/10, would highly recommend if you are in Heidelberg
