Hotel Central Hauptbahnhof in Heidelberg

We stayed at the hotel in June 2025. Family of four.

The location is relatively central and close to the train station. This is great for those on foot but it also means it is loud and busy in the area. There is a park across the street towards train station that had people in it talking loudly and screaming until late into the morning. The police came by twice late at night to clear them out but they cam right back after 20 minutes. It's a short walk into the alstadt and major shopping area. We came across a little afternoon music festival in another park down the street on the tram line. That was fun. There are also grocery and coffee shops in close proximity.

The hotel is older but rooms have been remodeled. The room we were in was plenty large for family of four with three beds. Two twins and a queen. The only complaint of the room was you had to step up into the bathroom and then step up again to the sink and shower area. All of us kept tripping over it and stubbing toes. Other than that the facilities were nice.

There was no A/C and no portable fan in the room so we had to have the windows open on very warm nights but then that made the noise from across the street very impactful. Thankfully we travel with ear plugs and eye masks.

There is private gated parking around back for a small fee.

Staff was friendly but sometimes hard to find as they would be away in the kitchen or somewhere else with other customers. They didn't speak much English nor German.
