Carathotel Basel/Weil am Rhein in Weil am Rhein

Worst experience ever!
Booked 1 night for busniess trip. Around 9pm when I was back in the room amd getting ready to sleep, it was being loud down the corridor. This kept on going until middnight, when I decided to investigate I realized that they had workera working in the room next door, somehow with a hose of water from the bathroom to the rooftop, workers walking loud, slamming the doors, talking loud... so I came down to the reception looking for support. The young man said he was not informed of any works being done and that he was going to take care that they were not cobtibiou to be so loud.
1 hr later, noise was even intensifying, drilling, vacuuming, doors, workers whispering... so I oacked and went again downstairs and requested a change of rooms, as it was 00:30am and the young man said the workers still needed to work 1 or 2 hrs more!
But! He couldn't grabt me another room, as they were "completely booked" and could not give me a room... eventhough there were many keys in the shelf... and arguing also that I had already used the other room!
When I demanded to speak to his manager, he even said he could not wake up his boss...
It took me some minutes to discuss, even got a little louder as the unfairness of the situation, the lack of politeness and support received in a NORMAL procedure in any 1star hotel at the minimum!
He pretended that I "suck it up" stay up until 3am that the workers where gone, cause it was npt possible to make a repair during the day but on the cost of the suffering of the guests! And then try to complain tomorrow... by check out!

I just hope never to return here, or any of my colleagues. Besides the hotel is really old and would be good to get somehow renewed.

A Very Disappointing Experience
We booked this hotel through Booking.com for a family stay. Upon our arrival in the evening, we had to wait about 5 minutes for the only elevator in the entire large building, which was already disappointing.

When we entered our room, we discovered that the air conditioning was not working. Although there was an old AC unit, it was completely out of order. The room had only an old fan, which provided no cooling effect whatsoever. We tried sleeping with the windows open, but the constant noise from the highway and the presence of mosquitoes made it impossible to rest.

Additionally, the fire escape door next to our room was constantly left open, and people were smoking there. We even found cigarette butts thrown right outside our door. On top of that, there were large spiders on the doors, and the cleanliness was far below acceptable standards.

When we reported these issues to the reception, they simply listened without offering any solutions. Overall, it was a very unpleasant and disappointing stay. We would not consider returning.
