Hotel Njord in Hahnenklee-Bockswiese

Good day. I live in the United States and served with the U.S. Army in Berlin between 1973 and 1976. As often as I was free on a three-day weekend or longer I drove with 2 or 3 or 4 other soldiers to the Harz Mountains area for a holiday outside the walled-in city of Berlin. We all always enjoyed the sense of real freedom outside of Berlin and within the Harz. Although small in size Hahnenklee was our favorite city in the Harz. There always was much to do outdoors especially for young, physically fit, sports enthusiasts. I returned in 2014 and stayed more than two weeks with Ralph and Marion Schwarz, hoteliers. I suffered an accident to my eye and Marion and Ralph helped save my eyesight! My visit was as if I were at home with family. I returned again in 2016, 2017 and 2017 for summer holidays again with Ralph and Marion. For a single man, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The meals, breakfast, dinner and mid-day coffee and sweets in the restaurant or on the patio are first class and prepared entirely by Ralph and Marion to ensure quality. Prices are unreasonably inexpensive. For everything which is offered, such a facility easily could command a much higher price in a similar area in the United States. The residents of Hahnenklee are sociable; the restaurants are varied, clean and serve good food. I write this review now because I know that Germany, like almost every other country in the world, is suffering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. But I wish to encourage Germans to vacation in their homeland. If you have not been to the Harz and Hahnenklee then visit and meet Ralph and Marion. I also encourage other visitors from the EU nations to visit where you can be safe, explore the outdoors, dine outdoors or indoors at clean safe-space tables, and support a family who has dedicated their lives and invested their fortune to build and maintain a vacation facility I most highly recommend. A very nice German hotel in the Harz. The view from the hotel is beautiful as it looks directly onto the two lakes in the town. Inside the hotel the interior is full of beautifully carved wood. The breakfast is great. Room in old fashioned German stile. 100 percent recommended.

70Style look. Do not expect the most fancy new hip design hotel but they distinguish themselves in how friendly they are, the gorgeous environment and all the comfort you need. And they have a lot of vegetarian options, plus they have large rooms.
We had a lovely stay!!
