Road Stop Neandertal in Mettmann

Restaurant is excellent and restaurant staff is very kind and friendly ….but…Do not stay at the Motel to sleep. The room we booked had a shower that was partially broken and not just since our arrival. Maintenance hadn’t been done for a long time, room was dusty, shower doors didn’t close and had mold and water did not drain so within two minutes the room floor was flooded. Since this happened Sunday evening it could not be repaired and we got a different room…but it had not been used or cleaned in ages, I have never seen so much dirt and dust in any hotel/motel room. see photos. also the outside balconies are cute but since lights stay on all night they attract tons of insects and spiders and apparently never get a cleaning either. also makes it impossible to open the windows during hot night as no mosquito screens are installed. The room also had nice boxing memorabilia…covered in years of dust and cobwebs everywhere and with rusty screws sticking out just laying around, just waiting for someone to get hurt. one night lamp didn’t work, the other was plugged into the only electricity socked, so you could either charge your phone or get a night lamp…totally covered in dust too the shower door in this room also didn’t close well but water only reached the toilet didn’t se the whole room under water. When I mentioned all this at check out (we would have left and searched for a different stay had I not been injured) the lady first said she’d give us a discount and took the price of two breakfasts off the total, then told us she’d done that because the second room we had been moved to had been an upgrade and was more expensive but since we had not asked for it she took the extra charge off. whatever. Wouldn’t go back and stay there if it was free. Since we had been moved to he first floor, no elevator, stairs only and between the checkout lady doing the math three times and me hobbling around with crutches we where in the room at 11:06 to get our bags and I got yelled at by he cleaning staff that check out was at 11:00, if we where planning to finally leave as they wanted to finish up and go home. side note: during 3 days stay we never got a room cleaning.
