Description

Hotel Münster Kongresscenter Affiliated by Melia is a four-star property built in 2000 and renovated in 2008. It offers a range of room types including Standard Double rooms, Premium Double rooms, and Double Junior Suites. Guests can enjoy amenities like free WiFi, on-site parking, a restaurant, bar, sauna, laundry services, and luggage storage. The rooms are noted for their spaciousness and cleanliness, with some reviewers highlighting large bathrooms and comfortable beds. However, the hotel lacks air conditioning, which has been a challenge during warm periods. Breakfast is served buffet style, with many guests appreciating the variety and quality, though service during the pandemic has had some difficulties. The hotel maintains an 8.1/10 rating overall, reflecting a generally positive experience with room for improvement in noise levels and ventilation.

We stayed to attend a show at Skaters Palace. For this, the location was perfect — less than 1km walk to venue. Parking was free, but EV charging required a membership to SW Münster, so we weren’t able to charge our car, which was annoying. Breakfast was very good. Very nice, big showers. Clean rooms. Not the quietest as it’s right next to the Kongresszentrum. Rooms on the parking lot side are worse than rooms at the front of the hotel, despite the street.

No air condition in the room, but outside it´s on the weekend nights very noisy, so you can´t really open a window to the front.

Average, get a room away from the main road!
Plenty of parking space at E 5, not too bad. Modern hotel in good shape.A 20 min walk to the city centre, but the harbour area was close.
Cleaning was not good, dust here and dust there.
In standar room you have no fridge, no coffee/tea possibilites, and no ventilation. That means you have to open the window facing tha main street, with lots of traffic noise.

Decent breakfast.

I would rate it at 3,5 but landed on a 3.

Too much traffic

Quite dissapointing.
1) The hotel was undergoing construction work (mid august 2020).
So workmen could, and did, pass our window at any time during the day.
There was no mention of this on the website, nor on booking.com (it would have made us choose a different hotel)
2) Our bad for expecting airconditioning in a fairly new 4 star hotel. We won't make this mistake again.
We were there in the middle of a heatwave.
The hotel had put up big fans in every room, so we had the choice between not being able to sleep from the heat, of from the noise of the fan.
Leaving the windows open was no option, due to the gangways for the construction workers all around the building (anyone from the street could enter our third floor room), and the street noise.
3) Breakfast service was very poor.
Due to Covid-19, they were obviously understaffed to be able to apply all of the necessary measures.
- Our first morning, breakfast was served at the table. (this was explained when we checked in, and we had to make a choice beforehand)
Most of the food/drinks we had chosen were brought, but they forgot the egg that was promised, and never returned to ask if there was something more we would like and if everything was ok. I really would have liked a second cup of tea, but we saw the staff running back and forth, leaving our corner unattended. Waving didn't help.
I'm not blaming them, they were just way too busy with both attending to all of the other guests, and with the hygienic measures they have to apply now.
- Our second morning, breakfast was served as a buffet.
We were not informed of this, nor on the procedure we had to follow. (also no info on that at the entrance of the breakfast room, just the big 3: mask, clean hands, distance)
When we (2 persons) arrived at the counter, we got appointed to a table for one (small table, set for one, with ONE chair). No space for two, as the 1,5 m distance to the surrounding tables could not be maintained.
I was not planning to have breakfast, sitting on my partner's lap, so we kept waiting, and finally the hostess went to find us a suitable table.
She was quite unwilling, like we were being difficult, which was unpleasant.
Behind us was the table with the hot drinks and cups, so I went for a cup of hot water for my tea. I got a reprimand, as it was not allowed and we had to wait for the staff to do that. It would have been nice if we had gotten that info beforehand, I would have complied and stayed in my seat.
4) Due to the hygienic measures, the folder with all guests-info was removed from the room. I suggest that the hotel either provides a disposable folder for every new booking, or puts up this information in the public area's.
Now we were kept in the dark on all of the do's and don'ts under Covid-19.
This is the first hotel we ever checked out of, where we were not asked if everything was to our satisfaction. Sadly, the answer would have been no, sorry.
There's room for improvement.
The positive points are the large parking area (which is fairly cheap at 4 €/night), though it should be marked more clearly as the driveway is for a big venue behind the hotel, and you cannot see from the street that this driveway serves for the hotel parking too (we noticed later the sign is in a bush), and the location near the cosy harbour with all of it's restaurants and bars.
The rooms are spacious and the bathroom has all comfort needed.
