Excellent, recommendable. Large room, large bed and wash room, very clean. And quiet. Free soft drinks/water. Excellent breakfast at 6.30 am with a wide selection. Very good value.

Suhl sounds like a good name for an evil wizard. The best hotel stay I've had in ages. Nothing fancy, but everything just worked as it should. You need your chip to work the lift

Went to Suhl to research my famìly history All the staff at hotel and townhall and Church where every helpful. Hotel had recent upgrades and good rooms

All the staff we met were extremely friendly and professional. I don't speak any German (typical British person!) but most of the staff spoke some English. I had an excellent sleep on a very comfortable bed

The food in the restaurant was excellent, but they do not have English menus, so Google translate came in very handy! Large, safe car park at the back of the hotel. Ignore the old reviews, this place is wunderbar!

Really good location if arriving to Suhl by train as it is right in front of the station. Breakfast is nice and simple with fruits available. Room was nice and spacious, wish there was AC but those are rare in Germany.

The rooms are big an cozy with free minibar. Outside of the rooms are freezers with beer, mineral water, and some sort of Cocacola, Fanta and Sprite. The wi-fi is good (depends in which part of the hotel you are staying)

A great getaway stay for some quiet in the mountain forest. It was full of snow and fog when we stayed there but even then, we could see that it would be beautiful in summer. It's romantic in its rustic way

More than enough storage wardrobe space for belongings and shoes. The rooms also come with a long shared balcony, so I imagine spring and summer, it is really nice staying here

Peacefull and quiet romantic place with fireplace in the restaurant...

The only recommendation would be to air the room before a check-in, ours was quite humid and stuffy but got better after opening the windows and waving a towel around. All in all highly recommended!

After we parked, we walked to the front of the Hotel and saw its magnificent charm. The view from the Hotel toward their private property is a nice view. Statues and interesting places for children to explore and sit

Here we climbed a long spiral stairway in a tower. Our morning breakfast was enjoyable in the restaurant. The Staff was especially helpful. They understood English very well. Side note: We stayed June 2012

The Hotel is placed in the forest just outside of Ilmenau, Germany, on a private country road. Our initial view of the Hotel was from the side as this is how the road enters the property

The view, was something I took advantage of in the early mornings as I sat with our windows open to enjoy a cup of coffee and listen the the song birds greet me and my family

This is a standard German 3-star hotel. Price is moderate, but the room is clean with furniture in good condition. Parking space is abundantly available, breakfast acceptable, free WiFi very fast

Other than being in Ilmenau - which isn't quite a hot spot - I can't fault this hotel for anything really. If you need to stay in town overnight, book here and you sure won't regret it

They have some sort of dispenser for soap, am not expert in hotels so can't tell if this is common or not but I rather have like in the Munich hotel a personal soap/bar

Great Hotel. Here you can meet the old style of living. The „smell „ of this hotel transport you back with centuries, you can fill the life from now 200 years ago.

A cozy and nice hotel in the middle of the town. Soundproofing is good so outside noises are nicely blocked out. A good amount of space in the room and the room prices are not bad.

Breakfast was a bit expensive at €13 each: selection is very good but we really only wanted cereal and there was no option for a smaller breakfast

From the outside, you can certainly tell that the building is a few years old, but the grounds were very tidy and the driveway to the small hotel/restaurant parking lot was clear. The entire building is very clean

We ordered some combinations of ingredients to get a meal for our kids and very much tried to get that on our table. Disadvantage is not being able to pay with cards and the closest atm is a 10 min drive by car

We weren’t enthused by cleaning staff opening the door and walking in at 8am. The pillows also left a lot to be desired, but that just seems to be the status quo for Germany

The breakfast is very rich and I like it. The room is well heated and very comfortable to stay in during winter. The room layout and bedding are also extremely comfortable. I will come again next time.

You just don't find that kind of service anymore. There's also a large games room for all ages, as well as billiards and foosball. Breakfast is good and prepared with care. Lunch and dinner are not served

The owner acts as a hostess and goes out of her way to accommodate everyone. We were there with a small group during the Christmas season, and the entire hotel was tastefully decorated for Christmas
