Country Inn in Kallithea

We stayed at Country Inn for 7 days.

The hotel itself is nice and the location is good, around a 10–15 minute walk from the center of Kallithea. The area is quiet, without loud music or too much activity. There is only some ambient music around the restaurant and bar area, which makes the atmosphere quite relaxing.

Our room was nice, with a very beautiful view, and it was cleaned every day. The overall appearance of the room was pleasant and the bathroom was fine, with a good-sized shower. One thing worth mentioning is that the toilet in our room was unusually high, which we found quite uncomfortable.

The lady working at the bar was very friendly, funny and pleasant to talk to. She was also very helpful whenever we needed information.

The pool water was quite cold during the first four days of our stay. There were also often insects and other small debris in the water, probably brought by the wind from the trees surrounding the hotel.

Prices at the bar are quite high, both for drinks and food. Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the pool area, not even after 19:00, when the pool closes and only the bar remains open. I can understand this policy during the day while the pool is open, but I don’t understand why it still applies in the evening. In our case, we were two couples and simply wanted to sit in the gazebo, have our own drinks and talk quietly in the evening. Instead, the only options were buying overpriced drinks from the bar or staying on our balcony, where talking in the evening could potentially disturb other guests.

For beer drinkers, the selection was also quite limited, with basically only Greek beers available, mainly Mythos and Alfa.

Breakfast is not very varied. With only a few small changes, you basically have the same options every day.

There is a path from the hotel towards the beach which I would personally recommend avoiding. It is quite steep and barely developed. I understand that maintaining this path is not the hotel’s responsibility, but I would recommend taking the main road to the beach instead, even though it is longer.

Apart from the lady at the bar, we found the male staff rather abrupt and not particularly friendly.

Overall, the hotel has some positive aspects: it is quiet, the rooms are nice and cleaned daily, the view can be beautiful and the location is reasonably close to the center of Kallithea. It may be suitable for some people, but personally I would not recommend this hotel and I don’t think I would return.
