Epidavros Hotel in Athens

Left after 5 minutes. There was no way I was sleeping in that bed. The area was completely unsafe.

The accommodation was extremely disappointing. We were promised a queen bed but instead received two separate single beds—one of which was broken. The bedsheets were dirty, and the room reeked of smoke, which made it very difficult for me to breathe as I have asthma.

The room was also located right next to the elevator, resulting in constant noise throughout the night. On top of that, the telephone in the room did not work, so we had to go down to reception every time we needed assistance.

The listing stated that breakfast was included, but not only was breakfast not provided, there were no coffee or tea facilities in the room either. One of the main reasons we chose this property over others was because breakfast was advertised, yet it was not available.

Cheap but still not worth it
The beds were terrible the staff knows nothing about the area to find your way around the pictures are of the renovated lobby not of the rooms the restaurant bar and coffee shop Do not actually work. The television in my room had to be plugged in unplugged in order to turn on and off it would not work my remote and they would not exchange televisions or fix it. You can hear everything from the other rooms to the walls.

The hotel is near Omania station, which is a good point when you are coming from the airport, the neighborhood is very loud. The room is of a goo size, the floor is dirty with hairs and crumbs, the tap in the bathroom is collapsing, and the paint is taking apart as well, there is a mini fridge but you can’t use it while outside the room, the walls are thin and you can hear the voices from the rooms next to you, the staff is lovely and the price acceptable ( 30€/p) you can’t also buy sandwiches there the hotel is good for one night but I don’t recommend staying longer than that.

Very awful experience, the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, the room small and with no air, the bathroom smelled like cigarettes and there was mold on the walls I recommend to not go in this facility

You should be aware this hotel is not in a very good area. I would not have felt safe going out after dark. The room was adequate slightly shabby but reasonably clean The mirror was broken , the balcony door could not fully open. Most worrying was my room door was left ajar every day by the cleaning staff, despite mentioning it to reception

I’m sorry to say this is the first hotel we have ever decided to leave early, after 3/5 nights. Unlike some other guests we actually had no problem with the location. But ultimately I must advise against coming here if you’re looking to relax and stay healthy on holiday.

One good thing is that the reception staff are really helpful (big thank you for dealing with our noise complaint in the middle of the night!). Useful information is proactively provided, e.g. about an upcoming strike affecting transit.

Why we left: the room is small and uncomfortable and I had concerns for my health.

- The room is very poorly ventilated with a residual smell of smoke. Yes it’s Greece, but what I experienced isn’t okay. Someone from a nearby room was regularly smoking and it must have made its way through the shafts, because at certain times of day/night it the smoke was stronger and irritated my throat, making me feel ill and unable to sleep. After just a few hours in a new hotel, my throat was better.

- The mattress is old, dipping in the middle. Impossible to sit up and read in bed as it slips
away from the wall.

- The bathroom is extremely narrow and I dreaded using it. If you’re a larger person you will not be able to use the toilet comfortably. Showering is a mission too; the curtain sticks to you and doesn’t even cover the whole cubicle, so the bathroom floods each time. I had to buy rubber sandals.

- Only 2 power sockets available in the whole room (well 3 if you unplug the TV), problematic if 2 guests are staying there. In this day and age people need to charge more than one device at one time, especially if they’ve been outside all day using them.

- As great as the reception guys were, they couldn’t provide us a full toilet roll upon request outside of housekeeping hours.
