Athenaeum Intercontinental, an IHG Hotel1 / 26

Athens, 89-93 Syngrou Avenue (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Very nice hotel in general. High standard of services. All aspects were taken care of by their professional team. Bed is very comfortable. Breakfast was very good, a lot of options. Although their hardware, like furnitures, were like 20+ years old. TV not working properly, bath drain blocked, furniture broken, etc. I hope they can plan a renovation soon! The hotel is easy to access. But remember...
I recently attended a corporate event at the InterContinental Athenaeum Athens by IHG. I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t comment on the rooms, but the hotel itself made a strong impression. The service was excellent, the staff very professional and courteous, and the event space on the 6th floor — with its terrace overlooking the Acropolis — was truly stunning. It’s clear from the moment you walk...
Amazing stay here, way beyond my expectations! Upgraded to the renovated room with Acropolis view, room was clean and big. Housekeeping is attentive. Service is definitely best in class I must say! Special shoutout to Elleni, Eleftheria and Agni from the Club Lounge, thank you for being so personal and endearing to remember my requests. You made my stay at Athens even more memorable :)
We got upgraded to club level which was amazing. The club lounge very nice and well stocked with everything you could want. Everyone was very nice. The new refurbished rooms are top standard compared to the other InterContinental's I've stayed at. The pool was too cold to use, but was October
Our stay at InterContinental Athens was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. George at concierge went above and beyond to help us, and we were even pleasantly surprised with an upgrade, which made our stay feel extra special. The room was comfortable and beautifully appointed, giving us the perfect space to relax after exploring the city...
Exceptional hotel! My room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The view from the balcony was remarkable - a picturesque showing of Acropolis, which was gorgeous at sunset and lit up at night. The Club was perfect for lounging and working. The staff was kind and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and if I'm ever in Athens again, I'll definitely stay again.

Hotel was very good and location of the hotel too! There was small problem that I come early in the morning at 4:30 am . Wanted to pay for early check in . But they told me it’s too early to do that and I should wait!till 9 am 🙄 later on they helped me with early check in. But it put minus for such good hotel
It is very classic and vintage inside the room! But hotel reception and doorman are very thoughtful and helpful on every guilde to everyone! Breakfast is amazing for traveller like me must wake up by good food’! So It is definitely a standard of 5 star and the location surround by great local cuisines with reasonable price! If you come for city walk for short! This hotel is the best of choice!
Best hotel I have ever been!!!!! Location, facility, lobby, service, breakfast!!! The best.!!!! I jus told them is my birthday and they added a cute nice cake!
door/wall/floor is not soundproof,we can even hear the men talking in the corridor ,and the sound of dragging a chair upstairs. The water pressure is way to low when I was taking shower.
The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially this lovely lady Miss Xenia who helped me split my day tour into two days according to my flight schedule. She even allowed me to check out later, so I didn't have to rush for the flight. I could come back, take a nice shower, rest, and pack. The breakfast and room service food were delicious, and the rooftop pool offered an amazing...
We arrived after our early morning flight and the bellman were very polite and took our baggage straight to storage but the front desk was quite rude to us about how early we arrived - I didn’t ask to check in and didn’t expect to, so there was no need to be rude. We only had 1 day in Athens so being well located to the main sites was important. This hotel was walkable to everything including the...

One of the best Hiltons I’ve stayed at. The staff was friendly and helpful. As a diamond member we were upgraded to an acropolis view. They provided complimentary bottled water throughout our stay. The breakfast was amazing in the hotel restaurant and the drinks and view from the Galaxy bar are worth a visit. A great value for Award nights. I’d recommend anyone coming to Athens stay at this hotel.
Hotel is pretty large and grand, with a huge reception area. Some parts are a little dated but most looks clean and well looked after. Staff are friendly and attentive and you feel well looked after. It's not the cheapest place but the higher prices are justified
A fantastic hotel with the best views. The food in the rooftop restaurant was absolutely devine and the breakfasts were cooked to perfection. In the room itself, everything was easy to use and the pillows were the most comfortable I've ever had. I would definitely recommend and look forward to being able to return.
Really really great experience, from check-in to departure. Felt extremely valued as a Diamond member - front desk staff upgraded our room without even asking. Front desk staff was polite and professional and gracious. Room was fantastic - get the Acropolis view!!! Several restaurants behind the hotel within a 5 min walk. Location is great, 15 min walk from the marble Olympic stadium and literally...
my husband and I stayed at this hotel during our first trip to Greece and we had a very enjoyable stay! situated in a safe area between two metro stations, it was very convenient for getting around, although I quickly wished we'd stayed closer to Monastiraki Square as that's where we spent the most time. that said, this hotel was nice, if not a bit outdated. the breakfast was delicious and the rooftop...
When visiting Athens this is the perfect hotel. Location is great and the staff are very polite especially those in the executive lounge. Say hello to Dimitri while you're there. He is a great guy and pointed us in the direction of where to go and what to see.

I recently stayed at the Sofitel Athens Hotel and had an outstanding experience. The staff was exceptionally kind and welcoming. We stayed at the Sofitel Athens Airport following a cruise, and found it to be exceptional. The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. Had a fantastic stay at Sofitel Athens airport. The staff were super easy to deal with, the hotel is beautiful, and the food was great with really generous portions. They even surprised me with wine and chocolates for my birthday, which made it extra special. Highly recommend!
Beautiful & convenient to Athens Airport. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I enjoyed all the Amenities and the food was Excellent!! Would stay there again!!
What a great surprise and experience. Beautiful interior design, great reception staff and a wonderful and quiet room. The BIG surprise was the rooftop restaurant. We were staying at another "nice" hotel that had roaches in the room. We moved at the last minute to the Sofitel, and everything about it was great. The hotel has complete facilities and beautiful environment. It is close to the sea. It was windy and cold in Athens these two days, so I couldn't go to the beach. It's a pity. I will stay here in the summer.

Not a 5 stars resort experience when compared to recent units on the Athens Riviera and…In urgent need of overall renovation, since the early 2000´s. F/B performance, breakfast buffet setting and quality « locked » on the stingy eighties standards: out of the hot buffet servings there us extra charge for eggs, 15€ for room service charge etc…
Our flights were cancelled so Aegean Air sent us to this hotel. While checking in, they handled bus loads of people with ease. They were polite, helpful, and caring. Really liked the rooftop bar/restraurant with view of acropolis. Was also allowed access to room early & upgraded to premium room so really pleased with this hotel.
Conveniently located close to 2 metro stations, nice room, friendly service, good breakfast, several good options for lunch/dinner in walking distance.

I have led multiple groups overseas. This is a fantastic hotel. Centrally located. Excellent food rooms are clean and very comfortable. The rooftop restaurant and bar has an unbelievable view of the Acropolis. Highly recommend.
Even though the hotel is an older one, service was excellent - the staff was very attentive and friendly. Breakfast and coffee were excellent and the rooftop view was a fabulous one. The elevators are busy in the morning as can be the breakfast bar at around 8 so get to there early!

Great hotel! Great location, coffee food and cocktails! Room was always cleaned, breakfast is okay! Only thing is the pool is always so busy, very hard to get a seat at times. But would stay again regardless :)
Staff was friendly and on the ball, quick service with a smile. Setting is stunning on the rooftop pool deck, and about an 8 minute walk to Monastaraki square with good things to see along the way. Thank you for a great stay!
Stayed for 3 nights after a NCL cruise. Perfect hotel. Staff are brilliant. Room was clean, comfortable and had complimentary cold beers, waters, red wine and coffee machine waiting. Staff speak good English and are always helpful, cheerful and friendly. Thanks to the Hotel team for a nice welcome, great drinks (cocktails are super) , top quality food, and perfect service. Lifts are very slow though
We stayed a week at the Stanley and enjoyed every minute of it. The rooftop pool is spectacular and the views are amazing. The rooms are comfortable. The hotel is centrally located with several good restaurants nearby. Best of all, the staff is very helpful and will arrange for cars, tours, etc.
We stayed 2 nights following our cruise. What a fabulous hotel! The location is great, the metro is just around the corner, 4 stops for the Acropolis, 3 stops for the parliament with changing of the guard and there are plenty of good restaurants and bars close by. The Athens Marriott has an excellent location—right in the middle of everything. The hotel offers valet parking, the rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly. Close to Kato Patisia metro station. Good breakfast, location is OK. Not the best area in Athens but it was a good money for value.
It is clean and no facilities to make tea/ coffee. No water provided. The staff were not polite. Breakfast is good. No tourists information available
Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the 4-Star Claim I stayed at Xenophon Hotel in Athens and was quite disappointed. Although the hotel claims to be 4-star, that rating likely dates back to when the building was renovated for the Olympics. The exterior and interior feel old and worn. The bathroom was especially underwhelming — very small shower area with a dirty, wet curtain constantly brushing against...
A big hotel close from the metro station Kato Patisia (10-minute ride to the center). The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast could be improved. Overall, it could be a good alternative to city center hotels if you can manage the transportation.

I made a reservation because I was on a business trip and there were no hotels with twin beds, but it was better than I thought and easy to find.
The hotel is very close to the Acropolis. You can see the night view of the Acropolis from the balcony at night. Highly recommended.
Old hotel but in a great location. 5 minutes walk to the Acropolis. The restaurant on the top floor of the hotel overlooks the Acropolis, perfect for dinner. Afternoon tea by the swimming pool is quiet and comfortable, also a must.
I stayed for 7 days and it was pretty good. It's very close to the Acropolis and very convenient. There are some big stones of Athens' ancient monuments in the dining area on the underground first floor of the hotel. The breakfast is very good. The hotel has a recommended parking lot. If you can find a parking space on the surrounding streets, it is free, but it is difficult to find

It was very nice, as expected of a first-class hotel with a long history. It's located in Syntagma Square in the center of Athens, so it was convenient to go anywhere.
Overpriced and room with no view! Totally overrated hotel.
Great location. We chose a room on the 7th floor overlooking the central square and the Greek Parliament. From my room, I could clearly see the Acropolis and Panathinaiko stadium. Impressive! Our room was small but that's because we chose a small room, so I recommend upgrading to a larger room/suite if you have 3 or more guests (don't settle on the basic room). Complimentary breakfast had a variety of food to choose from and fresh orange juice was served as well - all complimentary. 8th floor restaurant where breakfast is served has a spectacular 360 view of the city. Definitely...
Excellent location, attentive service, worth coming again!

I was impressed with this hotel for the price I paid. Very centralised, with the metro station right there. Restaurants, shops, supermarkets only steps away. The hotel itself is very comfortable. Though my room was a bit small, it’s all you need. Lots of pillows on the bed. Fluffy towels, and all the great amenities. They give you everything you need, and then some. Free water as well. The breakfast...
Lovely hotel with loads of amenities and such lovely staff! Breakfast was fantastic and I found a gem, the honey comb, was to die for! 😋
Overall good experience ,solo travellers look for solo rooms for a great deal.easy access to metro and all main attractions within 2-3 kms.
This was my third stay at this hotel, although the start was a bit bumpy as the very nice jacuzzis at the rooftop were not activated at check-in, the manager immediately tried to find a solution and a short time later the jacuzzis were usable. The rooms are fine, the beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is exceptionally good. As a compensation, because the jacuzzi was not yet active the day...
Thanks for everything! We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their friendly and attentive service truly made a difference. The food was delicious, with a variety of options that satisfied all tastes, and breakfast was a particular highlight with its fresh and diverse offerings. Our room was impeccably...
If you like a quirky hotel, then this is for you. It has a 60s theme but with 70s music constantly playing. The decor is disco themed and they even have disco balls outside the lifts. The staff are excellent and were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is right by the subway in a good location for sightseeing but a bit of a run-down area (not as crime ridden as some of the reviews I read). Some...

I was so well looked after by the staff especially Joanna. One night only and it was great. Thanks
Hotel is ok but the neighboorhood is terrible. There is no security cameras, no police. I was robbed on the street 30 mt away from the hotel. My passport, id, credit cards all of them were taken buy yhe robber. It was a terrible experience.
The room is small for 3 people, and the lift sometimes error, so we must use stair to bring our luggage.
The hotel itself was nice and clean. It, however, does not have laundry like it says in the amenities section. It is also not in a great part of town as when you walk there from the acropolis, there is the chance to encounter homeless people and discarded needles on the streets. If you are planning to take a cab to the attractions, then this is a good spot. If not, then I would consider other hotels
The service was decent, though it could have been more attentive. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, but nothing exceptional. The food was enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. Overall, it was a good experience, but there’s room for improvement. ⭐⭐⭐
I have spent 3 nights there, as a solo traveller to see the surroundings of Athens, which was a good and quality time for me. Also the services of the hotel were impeccable and very nice people! Thanks for everything and God bless you xx
