Cecil Hotel in Athens

Breakfast was a boring cheese and bologna-type choice with hard-boiled egg. But most of my Greek hotels had this exact same cold breakfast.
Insufficient electrical outlets in room. Located on Athinas street near Monesteraki Square: lively street with many food shops.

The hotel is located right on one of the central streets leading to the Acropolis. The highlight is the antique elevator inside. It's very convenient to take the metro to the airport; the station is in the direction of the Acropolis, just exit the hotel and turn right. The metro costs 9 euros, and you get off right outside the terminal building. The only thing is, you have to get off five stops later and transfer to another metro train, but you can't make a mistake; everyone gets off there.
The location is a bit noisy, but a good night's sleep is comfortable. The breakfast is very basic, but for the price, it's okay. If only they stopped watering down the juices, it would be even better. Although breakfast in Athens is generally not a problem, I don't even see the point in doing it at a hotel. The hot water is excellent, the pressure is good, and it flows immediately. Overall, it's a great value for the money, especially the location and the elevator.

You get what you pay for, the shower is tiny and the hose couldn’t be hung so I had to hold it, the breakfast isn’t worth it.

You do however get a clean bed and a working A/C, and you’re close to everything, also the water pressure in the shower is great.

Value hotel in great central location. Basic but spotlessly clean and a recommended location based for onward travel.

Me and my wife stayed in hotel Cecil for 4 nights and I must say the location was perfect.Just at the bottom of the road was the main square and the acropolis.
Clean and very friendly staff.
And the lift was worth it alone

Perfect location and comfortable bed but the rooms are definitely run down. Good place for staying one night.

Athens may be filled with soulless Airbnb rentals, each furnished with the same generic IKEA pieces—but Hotel Cecil is a refreshing exception. Like the city itself, Hotel Cecil isn't perfect, but its abundant charm and old-world character easily overshadow any minor imperfections. The prime location, the vintage Otis elevator, and functional WiFi are just added perks. Will be on the top of my list for my next visit to the city.
