The Hotel Minoa was recommended by our taxi driver, after he was unable to find the other hotel we had booked ( but that’s a story for another time). Anyhow, the cabbie called the hotel, found out a room was available, and drove us there. We were met by Marcos, who helped us in with our luggage, and welcomed us with water. We had room 25, which is front on the second floor, but I was so tired it didn’t matter. After we accessed our room, we took the elevator down to ground level, asked Marcos where we could eat. He took us out the door and showed us the P.S. restaurant 150 yards away. He was spot on with that recommendation. Terrific food, a menu in Greek and English, and staff who were used to Americans and spoke excellent English. Very high recommendations for both Hotel Minoa and P.S. restaurant. We would return in a heartbeat.

3 stars concept hotel, close to Karaiskaki Square. Spacious room and a cosy lobby. There is no breakfast or any food at the hotel but down left, stairs take you to a patisserie which can be visited from outside also. We only used there for take-away croissants and tea's but seems nice to sit & eat.

Next to the hotel, there is a private parking lot. They have a collaboration between each other and they give you a discount price. Find Aris (Iraqi-Kurdish man) at there and he'll help you out. He speaks English well and he's a nice guy. We parked our car there for during our stay.

The staff are all very kind and follow the instructions of the lovely receptionist Valentina, she gives you the best advices!

The location of the hotel is 2 mins walk to Metaxourgeio metro station. At the Karaiskaki Square you can also use hop-on hop-off buses. At the Square there are places for breakfast and dinner as well.

The interiors are quite old-fashioned, I didn't like it personally but family wasn't bothered. And also at the other side, there are lots of homeless people at the streets. And the alleys to the hotel don't seem auspicious, maybe it's better to walk to Karaiskaki Square direction when you are out.
For price equilibrium, it's a well-worth. Overall: 4.5/5

The staff at the hotel were very friendly, so I can't fault them for their service.

The area of the hotel is incredibly sketchy and rough and looks like something out of a horror film, especially at night. I am very angry at booking.com because I searched for a hotel in Monastiraki and this hotel came up though it certainly was not there. This hotel is in an area called Onomnia which has a reputation for being rough although the main square isn't as bad I have found out that people mainly say to avoid the backstreets and alleyways. The unfortunate thing is this hotel is located opposite those backstreets and alleyways, so to get to this hotel I had to walk through those really sketchy streets at night, and I really didn't feel safe. I understand that this isn't the hotels fault and I sympathise with them. However at the same time people should be making well informed decisions about their stay and if you are looking for a budget hotel that's centrally located at a good price then perhaps this is for you, but if you really value feeling safe in terms of the area that you're staying and don't want to be looking over your shoulder constantly, then I would think twice about staying here.

In terms of the rooms, they are outdated. The view from my balcony was to an alleyway which had a cluster of drug addicts and homeless people. The beds also were not that comfortable and the sheets kept becoming loose at night and there was no duvet provided. It was just a thin cotton sheet with a what felt like polyester blanket on top.

The hotel's location was excellent. It was close to everything, both by metro and by walking. It was cleaned regularly every day, and everything was perfect. Thank you

Clean hotel, excellent location (subway nearby). A special thank you to Salvatore, who speaks Italian very well and quickly helped us with an issue we had in Athens. Highly recommended hotel! Salvatore, the receptionist, is the best!

Stayed here for 5 nights with family of 4 including 2 children. The hotel is well priced and is clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak English. The hotel is located a 5 minutes walk from the Metaxourghio metro station which will get you to the acropolis in 20 minutes, and allows easy access to all parts of central Athens. There is a small cafe that you can access through the lobby that serves pastries and sandwiches as well as coffee and beer. We had breakfast there most days of our stay.

The room was large with a huge master bed bigger than a king-size and two single beds for the kids. There was a small fridge in the room, air conditioning and a TV. The bathroom had a toilet, sink and shower.

The decor was a bit dated and the room could do with a refresh. The bed broke on our first night but the staff came out and fixed it the next morning (a side bracket had come loose). The shower head in the shower didn't fit in the mount very well so it was precariously balanced or you just had to hold the head. The toilet seat was loose and wobbled a bit when sat on. The biggest problem we had with the room was the outside noise. Our room was on the sixth floor and even with the window closed you could hear traffic and street noise.

The other downside is the surrounding area is very rough. The walk to the metro is ok but go the opposite direction towards Omonia and there are lots of homeless people and drug addicts right on the street within about 200-300m of the hotel. We didn't have any incidents but it was very uncomfortable walking past them.

It is a real shame as otherwise for the price we paid (€70 a night) and given the central location this hotel is good value.

Bit rough around the edges but for the price point, location and service it’s incredible. Room are super clean and usable, gets the GBL league on the TV which was pretty fun to watch. Convenient cafe attached with a decent offering, room service available from 7am-11pm also but didn’t use it! Fantastic stay

For the special rate of 56 euro for my overnight stay I was very satisfied 3 important things for me number 1 rooms were immaculately clean . 2. Front of staff Valentina and the Gentlemen are always friendly and welcoming and extremely helpful I was offerded a late complementry check out also as it's also my second visit to the Minoa. Regarding the Location is great and a few minutes walk to the Metro to connect you to Synigma square Acroplis ect, some reviews have implicated the surronding neighborhoods it's Athens harden up . I had no proplems this time around or on my last stay.
