Wollner in Sopron

It is a beautiful local boutique hotel running by kind people.
I and my partner enjoyed staying for a short trip in Hungary.

Fantastic, historic hotel with fin-de-siecle furniture and design, very delicious menu and friendly and helpful staff. I would describe it as a castle-hotel, only it is not described as.

Very nice hotel in the centre of Sopron, with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was large and quiet, everything was perfectly clean. Buffet breakfast, served in a beautiful large room, was excellent. Next time we will certainly choose this hotel. The owners certainly love their job.

It is difficult to describe the experience of the family-run Wollner Hotel with adequate words. Simply perfect! Sopron is a jewel box of Hungarian history anyway, but the hotel, renovated in its original condition, is a gem of the city's incredible past. The hotel itself is like a museum. A collection of original objects from Roman times to the present day. The service and breakfast are also amazing. Cleanliness, kindness, traditional local hospitality. (Don't miss the historical wine cellar). The hotel will help you discover the most interesting attractions in the area! Niki at the reception takes care of everything! Highly recommended!

Lovely experience with warm and accommodating hosts, in a perfect location. This is a beautifully renovated old building in the old town, there is original artwork adorning the hallways and rooms, a restaurant in the cellars, a spa, conference rooms, inner courtyard and back garden-where lavender is still blooming, now in November. Breakfast is generous with traditional Hungarian options as well as healthy alternatives to please even the pickiest vegetarian. Coffee cups were large and the bread and pastries warm, a wonderful way to start the day, ahead of exploring old Sopron. A big thank you to our hosts, hoping to return soon.

Sopron Old Town and Hotel Wollner are what you imagine of a little town in Central Europe to be, kind of like the town in "Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang" but without the scary Child Catcher! The hotel is scrupulously clean, the rooms have character. In so many, especially chain hotels, you get into the room and you feel you could be anywhere in the world they are so anonymous. Not so here. Niki is the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Ours was only a one-night stay, but it was a very enjoyable one.

When we decided to visit Sopron, after conducting a basic research as regards the hotels in the city, Wollner became our first choice. From the moment we contacted Nikoletta to confirm the booking there was a positive vibe about the whole thing. Hotel Wollner is a small family run hotel, very close to the city's attractions. We were given a room just above the reception. It was an old fashioned room, albeit with all the basic amenities. The breakfast was sufficient and like the other reviewers have mentionmed, you get to choose your own egg dish. The Wollners are a nice and affable family, and the little interactions we had with them is something we will remember forever. At 80 years of age, the manner in which Mr Wollner goes about his responsibilities is very inspiring. Now that we are through with our brief visit to this western Hungarian city, suffice to say we made a great decision in opting to stay at Hotel Wollner. There's no doubt that we stay in the hotel again when we next visit Sopron

Wonderful hotel experience. Perfect location in the middle of the old town and silent at night. Our room was massive and very elegant, it felt like we were staying in a palace! The staff are wonderful and will make you feel at home. It's a truly family run business and you cal feel thay it's a special place. Bathroom products are eco friendly. Great heating and lots of storage in the room - more than my bedroom back home! If you needed to work from the hotel the desk in the room is brilliant too

Charming Heritage Boutique

Everything about this lovely historic hotel that is family run is filled with character. Right from the sweet old gentleman who welcomed us with a tune from a Raj Kapoor movie to the nooks and corners of this heritage mansion. A stay here feels like living and breathing a bit of the heritage of this medieval town, as much as exploring the wonders outside.

LOCATION: Fantastic location in the ancient quarter of the town withing steps away from all key points of interest

DINE + DRINK: They have a lovely Weinstube right inside the property, a rustic restaurant as well as a sweet little bar next to the reception filled with characterful wooden fittings.

ROOM: We stayed in one of the double rooms in the first floor so this review is based on that; VIEW: sweet view of the courtyard below; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: No Airconditioner in the room! So be warned if you are coming during warmer weather!!; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Basic local cosmetics.

FACILITIES: No Gym of Pool, pure heritage indulgence and chill.

SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to NIKKI who enhanced our welcome experience and her father who checked us in.
