We stayed in one of the apartments - #302 (which is not in the main building -- its a separate building in the harbor). Cozy, warm (we were there in the middle of winter), washer & dryer, good internet connection (>100mbps), fjord and mountain views. It was spotless clean and we were able to get a very early check in. Good communication with the hosts.
But the restaurant is the real gem. We went there for "winter service" - they don't serve the full menu during the bottom of the season (and in general, if you are braving the winter season in Iceland expect most of the restaurants to be either closed or in winter-mode), but boy oh boy, were we in for a treat. The food tasted like magic, like the stuff my grandma cooked for me when I was a kid and when chicken tasted like chicken. On top of that, we had the most wonderful service from the host, she went out of her way for us to feel welcome. We will be back (tomorrow, and then next year).
The coffee shop near by serves great bakery!
The steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare, tender and flavorful. The potatoes had a wonderful crispiness and were cooked to perfection. The cabbage roulade, paired with crispy bacon, was absolutely to die for.
Service was equally memorable. My server, Cristina from Spain, was funny, friendly, and extremely helpful when it came time to choose from my options.
For dessert, I had the crème brûlée, which was also excellent. The custard had just the right thickness, the sugar topping was caramelized to a perfect golden crunch, and the rhubarb integrated into the custard provided a bright, balanced flavor.
