We took a group of high school students to Dalvik and stayed here. This place was awesome! The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for our day trips and the scenery was beautiful. The staff were kind and helpful and prepared great food. I would definitely stay here again!

The guesthouse was tricky to find, but a decent place to spend a day or two.

We stayed in a room that had a shared bathroom. Bathroom and Showers were very clean. Liked the lounge area with tables. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel with delightful staff. Easy to get to, lots of parking and cute rooms. The shining star is the wonderful breakfast. It's worth the money.....pay for it. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this hotel. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Our EF group had a marvelous three day stay here at Hotel Dalvik. The food and service was amazing. The staff was very friendly and the meals had a down home feel. We didn’t leave the table needing anymore to eat. It was great to come back from a long day of sight seeing to have a great home cooked meal.

Communication was excellent. Nice, quiet location. You have to fill the tub yourself on arrival which takes some time, but instructions were clear and easy. A great spot!

It is a whole unit which faces a beautiful mountain. Compact and it has what we need. It's a pity we didn't have the time to enjoy the jacuzzi. It will be great if the pillows can be more firmer.

We had a great winter stay. The views were sunning. Loved looking at the snow covered views from the hot tub. Star gazing and northern lights when it got dark. Plenty of space around the accommodation for the children to explore/ go sledging. Also conveniently located for whale watching from Dalvik

Great property just outside Dalvik. Our cottage was clean and the communication with the host was great. We really enjoyed the view of the valley from the deck and had an amazing time using the BBQ and relaxing on the hot tub. Fast Wi-Fi connection, our family had a great time here. Value for money too

Clean room, but also pretty expensive for what you get (more of a hostel than anything). Only two bathrooms (including shower) shared with the whole floor, made for a bit of a wait.

Clean, nice rooms overlooking the countryside. Common equipped kitchen, bathroom and living room. Everything we needed to cook and enjoy our stay we found. Fast wifi in room. Outdoors, children's playground and camp for tents. Very reasonable room rates, therefore we chose the room and did not use the tent :) In addition, pleasant communication at the reception desk. The most amazing campsite I have found in Iceland. Set in the grounds of an old school the facilities are very good. Free WiFi, kitchen and washing area, clean showers and toilets. The only downside was the communal showers which brought back memories from my school days. There is a wonderful trail which begins from the campsite and takes you around across a river and into a forest. Beautiful wildlife

A fabulous little hostel just across the main road from the harbour and ferry. The rooms are very tasteful & charming, the dorm spacious, and the staff are really nice. There's a small kitchen with a fridge and single hotplate downstairs, but you can visit the excellent café 100m south where the road forks, Gísli Eiríkur Helgi (from 11-18 in winter) which is a great place to hang out and watch life...

Nice bungalows at the in northern Iceland. Functional design and clean. Good for 4 people otherwise it is very tiny. The view and outdoor hottub are perfect to relax.

This is a unique property. The full kitchen is available for travelers to use to cook their dinner. If we had known, we would have brought some food to cook. Great place for a 3-4 day trip. We went in the summer and it was great for fly fishing(catch and release) or whale watching. All the staff were kind and thoughtful and there were plentiful activitys for anyone wanting to do basically anything.

Decent apartment but certainly not luxury. No soap for shower and no soap holder or any place to put the soap once we bought it from a store. Very noisy location. The worst part is that we were on the 4th floor and no one told us there is no elevator. We are senior citizens and it was difficult to lug large suitcases to our room.

The place has no toiletries even though it is mentioned in their email and the staff want pictures and proof that there are no toiletries. The place can get noisy on weekends, we never got view anything on TV we could not locate the remote

Hotel is about 5mins with car from city center. It smells nice here all the time, there is a common dining room, jacuzzi and is pretty calm. Perfect if u want to have some peace. Big parking for cars.

Pretty new hotel a short drive from Akureyri city. Rooms are very spacious and clean. There's a common kitchen, and laundry room. Hotel will only start to serve breakfast from 1 June. So during our stay, there's no meal served. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

This clean and tidy, newly renovated hotel is quite empty during the summer season. Since it’s a self-service hotel, there’s no service. However, there’s a 24/7 shared dining hall equipped with some utensils, cutlery, a fridge, and a microwave. There’s also a ski locker and a laundry machine and tumble dryer (both 24/7 and self-service), which are also free. One of our favourite hotels in Iceland.

Parking is convenient and clean. The room is relatively warm and easy to check in. The hotel will inform you of the password in advance, so you don't have to worry about not being able to find the front desk and not being able to check in even if you arrive late.

Hotel is located on a mountain and you get a great view of akureryi city and the mountain view. Conveniently located with nearby supermarkets and restaurants.

I've spent 3 nights at Akurinn and always so pleased. It is really close to downtown Akureyri and in a walking distance from so many sights. 😊 Some rooms have private bathrooms but some are shared. Staff & location were wonderful, breakfast was good. Room across the street was subpar with dirty carpet, mildew smelling bathroom & super small. My husband previously stayed in the main bldg & it was nice. Would only stay here again if I had a room in the main bldg. If I had to stay in a room across the street again, I would run away. Don’t accept a room across the street.

My boyfriend and I booked this place last minute. Price and location were both good. We were a little concerned when we saw multiple negative reviews. However, our stay was wonderful! The room was clean, some noise from other rooms were noted but nothing after around 2100. We had a direct view into the city center which was great for people watching. The room was beautiful and cozy. We ended up in a bad situation and the owners let me stay in a room after we had already checked out until the situation was over. They did their best to help even though they didn't have to. They were really kind and helpful. The location was also a big plus and they watch out for your security.

It was quite nice. However we were in the basement rooms, which is a bit uncomfortable. The biggest problem is that there were no shadow curtains, so the sun came into the room in the morning.

Guesthouse in an excellent location, clean, comfortable rooms. A couple of tips: it is difficult to check in - it is mandatory to call upon arrival. Check in time unclear, on the website it now says 6 PM, the house says 4 PM, on the phone they say 5 PM... For the rest everything was fine, I recommend the visit.

It’s a small room with full of small kitchen. We can cook a small plate in the room. The bathroom is small but not bad for a price and location.

Really reduced space, with just a common room to leave the luggage, and no receptionist. They didn't give me the codes to get in in advance, so I had to wait once I got there. It was also difficult to get in.

My first time at a capsule anything tbh, and I couldn't have imagined a better experience. The couple running this establishment have created a unique atmosphere, such comfort, and a feeling of joy to get back to home away from home. I'm now in love with the capsule concept, kudos to Japan, and this amazing Icelandic couple. Thank you for a great stay, hope to see you in Portugal ;)

Tv remote didn’t work in room, and the power outlets in the pods barely worked as well

The pods were surprisingly comfortable. The common areas were well taken care of, and beautifully decorated. There were plenty of bathrooms - sometimes a worry at hostels. It was definitely one of the best hostels we have stayed in. It is right in the center of town, so perfect location to see Akureyri.

This is my first time staying in a Hostel. I was very impressed. Staff are helpful. The common area was big and clean. I did not like the pool table. It creates a loud noise. It is difficult to rest after a long day of hiking or traveling. IMO

Great venue, great food. Reasonable prices. Loved the reindeer burger ! Happy hour lasts quite a few hours so made it affordable. We ended up eating and drinking there a couple of days.

Overall it was ok. We stayed at the fourth floor, which was quiet, but the showers were in the basement and one had to go thru the bar at the ground floor to get there. The reception was at the bar counter and it was noisy and hard to understand house rules. Lastly the receptionist wasn’t too interested or inclined to provide additional details.

There were foundation marks on the pillow cases in the room. The floor of the public bathroom was dirty and it was on the first floor. It's a stylish hostel with a bar restaurant attached, but in reality the food and drink business seems to be more active. Looking at the reviews, it seems the management has changed since before, and the kitchen for guests that was previously advertised is no longer there, and there is only a microwave and what appears to be a kettle. The room was rather small, and the breakfast selection was limited, but the location was excellent, making it easy to reach various parts of the town. The gym had many facilities, but it was mostly empty, so you could practically have the gym to yourself.

The room was spacious and well-equipped, with the heated towel rack being particularly noteworthy. It snowed on the day we checked in, and our clothes were completely soaked—the heated towel rack was very helpful for drying smaller items. The breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of options, which suited our tastes perfectly. This hotel offers excellent value for money and is highly recommended

Friendly staff and modern bedrooms with bath. The breakfast is left on the fridge in a box, which means you can take it with you either if you’re in a hurry in the morning or if you don’t want to eat all of it because it’s a big portion.

I loved staying here a couple of nights to dodge some Icelandic weather. The owner Gunnar was hilarious (very dry sense of humour) really helpful and friendly, as is his daughter Isabella (apologies for any misspelling). We had the apartment for 8 pax on the top floor - tiring climb with luggage. There was only one bathroom in the apartment but this seemed to be the norm in Iceland. Equipped kitchen and washing machine in the apartment which were great. Not all the radiators in the apartment worked though. Good location with easy access to shops and eateries.

This hotel is a combination of hostel type rooms and full hotel rooms. Hotel rooms have bathrooms. Hostel rooms share bathrooms and showers. Shared bathrooms and showers are all private units in a common area. You shower in private. Rooms and bathrooms are all very clean. Breakfast buffet has wide variety of bread, meat, cereals and fresh fruits. Right next to Botanical garden and hospital

A good use of space in the summer season. These are dorm rooms during the school year and everything was very clean. Close to main town. Breakfast spread was great in the morning. Offers to do your laundry for a very inexpensive price. Wifi worked well, no complaints. Very large rooms.

When I booked this hotel, I read not very good things for it and I was afraid. But in reality everything was good! The romm was clean, spacious, elegant, with sea- view. The staf was original, and if you wanted something they did it. The only strange thing is that the room is without tv.

Very large and crowded. It seems that the rooms serve as students housing some time during the year - so the inner furniture setup is a bit strange for a hotel. There is no soap or shampoo in the rooms.
