Where to stay in Laugar

Stayed here for multiple days as it is a good location to go out and see the area. A warm welcome by the owner (together with some freshbaked cookies :) ). We had the smaller cabin, but was spacious enough for us (2 ppl), with bedroom, kitchen area (and extra stocked) and small bathroom (douche & toilet). We loved our stay here. Very quiet rural area, friendly host/hostess, excellent breakfast, much of it homemade, including some lamb from their smokehouse, which was exquisite. Rooms were very comfortable. Location is convenient one or two days of sight-seeing in the area. Highly recommended.

Self check-in and check-out. 2 rooms and a living room. The rooms are clean. All necessary information is in the file. We checked in at 2 a.m. and checked out at 7 a.m. It was very easy.

It was lovely and warm. The cottages facilities were satisfactory for our needs. The location was very convenient for exploring the Myvatan area. The views were fantastic, and would have been perfect for auroras. The Hot tub was excellent, easy to use and really nice way to warm up when it was -10c.

I absolutely loved staying in this cabin. The remoteness and ability to disconnect is exactly what I was looking for. The hot tub, outdoor BBQ and kitchen were fantastic. The peaceful surroundings were so nice as well as the hiking trail next to the cabin.

The pastoral setting for these cottages was beautiful. I loved taking a walk on the trail mowed into the adjacent field for that purpose watching and listening to the birds that were nesting there. I even saw an owl on one of those walks. The private hot tub was the highlight of the cottage itself, and we appreciated having access to the grill. Wonderful guesthouse in the country side, very good value for money, very clean and comfortable. Peaceful and calm surroundings, with short distance to the town of Húsavík. The little kitchenette was equipped with all you need for breakfast and simple dinner, and two fresh eggs from the farmer were waiting for us in the fridge when we arrived! :)

We had a lovely stay at Vallakot Farm Guesthouse. The studio was well-equipped and very clean. We had a comfortable night’s rest after a long day of driving. We also got to meet one of the owners who was so kind. Check out their vegetables that are grown and sold on their farm!! Highly recommend :)

The unit we occupied was between two others. So, a little like a motel, but with a lovely rural atmosphere. Lovely little table set on the deck which overlooked the pastures. At the corner of the building was a hot tub which the owner filled upon arrival with geothermal water, which was then emptied after we'd gone to bed. We stayed at Langavatn Guesthouse for one night during our trip around Iceland. Customer service was amazing, and the rooms were clean and nice. The breakfast was simple, but had everything we needed. We had a nice riverside view from our room. The receptionist, presumably the owner of the guesthouse, gave us some great tips about the local area! 10/10 would recommend!

Wow! Oli is a welcoming host and the property is sweet, natural and lovely. Tucked at the end of the road and adorned with terns the home features a hot spring in the backyard with a true hot pot, over 100 F. We took a hike up through the backyard to the alpine meadow where I sketched and admired. The private outdoor pool was amazing! A soothing temperature to swim a few short laps. I look forward...

A little piece of heaven, Haraldur is the perfect host that makes you feel like home. The house and rooms are well decorated. There are 3 bedrooms and a big shared bathroom. The best of it is a swimming pool and a natural SPA of about 40 degrees. It is worth going!

We were very pleased with this place. Very warm and cozy, friendly staff. They have a Hot Tube, included in the price of accommodation. Breakfast is standard, but the pancakes are very tasty, they do not have time to fry them, they eat everything 😅 I would like to stay longer.

One of the best Airbnb at Húsavík! If you are lucky, get hold of Room 1. The only room with a great view! Easy check in and location is just 10mins away from Husavik town!

We cannot say enough great things about this guesthouse. Easy self check in, room was clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom spacious. The view from the porch was gorgeous. The big plus was the stocked kitchenette with a refrigerator. Not to mention the best cold water I have ever tasted coming out of the faucet. Would definately stay here again.

Quiet place to stay between Husavik and Myvatn. Remote check in was simple and the view was great. We loved the deck with chairs and table to eat dinner at with a view of the Atlantic.

The hotel has a good location and is convenient to reach by car. However, I was quite disappointed with the room assignment: as a regular guest arriving around 3 p.m., I was placed in an accessible room without being asked for my consent or informed in advance. This is not professional, and I believe guests deserve proper communication and the option to choose their room type.

Amazing hotel. The staff really do care you are comfortable and happy. Helped with my dietary issues with no fuss or drama. Breakfast was delicious and fresh, choice of hot or cold breakfast, pastries and cereals. Can not speak highly enough of this hotel.

Poor value for money We arrived for check in and given a very comfortable, clean but basic room. Parking was just outside. Only a minor downside, as you will be aware hotels are not good value for money in Iceland, but all the TVs were being upgraded so the current ones didn’t work. Good accommodation for an affordable price, which is a lot in Iceland. 5 minutes walking to the center where the restaurant and excursions are. The smell of the place was not the best, that is the only but I could tell.

This is my second time visiting Fosshótel Mývatn and I could not recommend it more. Services, food and drinks are all top notch. The rooms are immaculate. There is an incredible sauna on the third floor that you can access until 10pm and the happy hour deals at the hotel bar are an excellent deal.

The hotel is very nicely located next to Lake Mytvan and can see the sunset and sunrise from the dining room as well as the room. We saw the northern light ftom our room window.Breakfast is good and the dinner at the restaurant was fantastic.Highly recommended, one the the best hotel we stayed in Iceland.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming - taking time to have a chat each day. The kitchen was very well set up for any cooking needs. The outlook was unique and lovely to wake up to. I would stay here again.

We stayed in a campervan not a cottage, but this had everything we needed! It was about 5000 ISK for 2 people. We stayed in October so there were only about 4 other vans and no midges (bugs) that other people experienced. The amenities were nice and had everything we needed: showers, toilets, cooking tent. The toilets had the heat cranked inside so it was very warm. Showers are communal with no curtains

Cozy cabin with great views close to everything. Loft is kind of cramped but would work great for kids. Not sure why previous guests complain about the bugs as they must have came the wrong time of year, so that’s on them. Hardly any bugs here in mid Aug, perfect cool weather.

The hotel provides good service with helping the clothes washing. And u could easily pick up in the day. Soooo nice!

Nicely organized cottages. There is a common kitchen where guests can cook and clean after themselves. Bathrooms and showers are clean. Heaters are set to very hot temperature. We ended up opening our window for fresh air.

The service was excellent, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good, and parking was convenient.

The place was very clean, and it was easy to check-in. The kitchen was big and well furnished, but got a bit disappointed seeing there wasn’t cooking oil, salt or pepper. The bunk beds were comfortable enough, but the lack of privacy curtains was a bit off putting. I got to sleep in my room alone, so it’s not too bad, but I wouldn’t like having strangers come and go and just see me sleep. Finally...

The room with two bunk-beds was very small for four people. It was hot, stuffy and poorly soundproofed. We spent three nights there and EVERY night there was quite a big fat spider on the ceiling. First night - spider has rappelled on the head of our son. He awoke, saw the spider above his face and awoke all of us. Second night - daughter saw spider rappelled from the ceiling on the side around 4am...

We got stuck in some bad weather, and ran into some closed roads, and were going to arrive after check in time. However, some wonderful person at Eldá responded to my text immediately and let me know they would save my room keys and check in info on the desk for me! The people at Eldá are incredibly nice, helpful and professional. Plus the room and amenities are wonderful!

We stayed here as part of our ring roadtrip. The place is cost effective. The walls were very thin and we had a group of Spanish guests who were very lound in the same area but besides that, the place was warm and had a kitchen and very accessible.

My husband and I stayed at Elda Guesthouse during our Myvatn stop while doing the Ring Road. We arrived quite late and were placed in the extension building, not the red main house shown in the booking profile. The foyer was muddy with shoes scattered everywhere, which was fine, but when we got to the kitchen, it was overflowing with food and the fridge was full, leaving no space for our own stuff...

Nice stay of 1 night Quite central for Lake Mývatn with petrol pump supermarket at walking distance. Quite a spacious apartment with 2 separate bedrooms and a living area and a good kitchen. Early check in offered for no additional cost.

Very expensive in the restaurant. Food was okay but we were charged £60 more than expected, so bread and water must not be free here. Make sure to check your bill. That was our mistake. Great views of the northern lights 👌

I’m rating this as the best hotel we stayed at in Iceland during our 12-day trip (and just to note — we weren’t on a five-star journey!). Beautiful hotel located near Myvatn. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We signed in for a aurora wake up knock and because of that we saw a few aurora. Good breakfast and dinner. We had a lake view room and it was beautiful to wake up with the sunrise and the lake in sight.

All amenities are clean and tidy. Heartwarming services like knocking door while northern lights appear, booking a lovely dinner. It's high possibility to witness aurora with good weather conditions as no light pollution here. However there are still kinda pity that no fridge inside the room. It's probably not really required because there's also hard to find supermarkets nearby, neither the laundry...

Hotel room was good for the night. This space was very clean and close by to the town. The heated floors are a nice touch. Last minute we decided to try the breakfast buffet. For the price you t might be better to get some pastries or a sandwich at the local gas station as the selection of food was very limited.

It is a great spot to sleep, I stayed in one of the private bathroom rooms. Great views of the sunset and sunrise from the property. It is really convient checking in and out. Don't have to wait for someone to staff a desk to come or go.

Door was noicy and all sounds from corridor came in the room. Our room 25 was towards backside which was good. Rooms opposite has windows straigh to parkingplace. Aloe soap was great. Teaspoons needed that you can stir coffee. There were none. Good that you get orders how to sign in few days earlier. Not luxury, but 2 days you can stay here in mini-room. Personal was really polite.

I stayed in a twin room with shared facilities and had an amazing stay. The living room was cosy, the kitchen big and the shared bathroom clean. The bedroom was also spacious. Location is perfect, in between many spots of Myvtan. Would totally recommend

So far it was the best place we stayed in in Iceland. The room was confortable, the shared bathroom big and clean. The kitchen had everything you could need and the dining area was cosy, which isn't the case in many places. Would recommend!

No wifi working. Too small rooms with no enough hanging clothes, no shampoo or soap in the shoewr. Only three showers in the building only one hairdrayer. the reception is at daddys pizza but it was not specified and we had to call (we enter it first but no one paid attention to us)

The sleeping cabins have everything a tired traveler will need. Spacious and clean washrooms. Practical shared kitchen. Power points outside for those who wants to (slow) charge their cars. Minutes away from food. A perfect resting place for passing traveler.

House for Room 9-18 has only one shower and one toilet.

Wow!! One of our favorite stays in Iceland. We unfortunately got a flat driving to the hotel, and it was pouring rain, and we got delayed about 2 hours arriving to hotel taking away our only night experience- but the hotel was accommodating and checked us in no problem. The breakfast. Holy wow. The breakfast was a masterpiece!! As a hungry American in Iceland, this was beyond amazing lol portions...

Common areas are nice but the rooms are on the smaller scale. Sink in the bathroom was so tiny that it was very difficult to wash my face. Pillows were way too flat and had zero support. Breakfast was nice but same as everywhere else in Iceland. Dinner had a normal Icelandic price tag but don’t order the lasagna or mushroom soup.

The view is beautiful, the staff very friendly (and they know a lot about the area) and the breakfast is good. But the rooms are tiny and smell of eggs (especially the bathroom) and I don't like that you only get one room key. Also we weren't allowed to sit in the restaurant (only the small area next to it) because they waited for a group (they only filled 2 out of 10 tables).

Very nice hotel, pretty well situated when spending few nights in the area (and less expensive as well than others). Beautiful view over the lake and next to the craters' trail. Food is quite expensive but very good (no small portions). Our small twin bedroom was enough for us and had clean private bathroom. Breakfast was included and great!

Great stay for the value, ignore the haters. I'm a pilot and live in hotels half of my life. I stayed early June, so perhaps it was an early season rate, but for $140 USD I have no complaints. Not a big room, but what a view. We were lucky to have a room with a view on the lake and the sheep walking in front of our window outside. Nice breakfast and dinner, the room where you eat has a great view. Only the smell from the water in the shower wasn't pleasurable, but hey say you have this at more places in this area because of the sulfur.

A very nice place. The rooms have both private and shared bathrooms. The food is very tasty. The rooms are clean. I just wish guests would clean up after themselves, for example, after making meals, because they make a mess.

Nice cozy farmstay. The room was nice and clean but with no kitchen. However breakfast was available. The breakfast was well stocked with a good choice of food. The staff well constantly check on the food to ensure the plates were no empty. There was horses nearby and we managed to get up close to some horses.

Best hotel we've been to in Iceland with very helpful staff who even wake you up at night if Northern lights are showing... only hotel so far with this service. Their home-brewed beer is also excellent. Would love to come again!

Nice hotel in a good position. Very good buffet dinner, average breakfast. Nice and comfortable room with a view. Unacceptable bathroon with large shower but unusable tiny basin where you cannot fill a small bottle, nor wash your face. Kind and friendly personnel.

2nd trip in Iceland and 2nd time staying here. There is not much choice in the area but that does not detract from the cottages. They are cozy and close to the geothermal areas, dettifoss, etc. I stayed in the new large cottage with the hot tub but it was not worth the cost, very sparse inside. If there is a 3rd time I would stay in one of the smaller cabins.

The rooms are wooden cottage, loves the exterior. The interior is a bit with ages, yet perfectly function. Had a huge window from the room, seeing Krafla, stars and aurora from the window, love it. Shared kitchen is cute and lovely. The breakfast is super nice with perfect view of myvatn. Got discounted ticket for Myvatn Bath from them and they helped for booking, yay!

Check in windows seemed to be only 1 hour. It may have been OK to arrive after the desk staff was gone, but that was not clear in our instruction. The directions made is seem like we had to arrive within a 1 hour window. All other aspects of the visit were nice.
