The rooftop terrace and bar are highlighted as great social spaces with nice city views. Guests appreciate the availability of earplugs to manage noise and the secure self check-in system. Shared kitchen space can get crowded and cleanliness depends partly on guests’ behavior. Some rooms facing the street experience significant noise from traffic and nightlife. Storage space in dorm rooms is limited and some amenities like bedside reading lights are missing. Lockers under beds sometimes do not function properly.

Hi Eco Hostel has a great atmosphere for all ages, we found it a lovely place to meet people and enjoyed the cafe bar and kitchen areas. Our superior double room was very comfortable on our first stay, but the double room was less comfortable and it was really noisy on Friday night, so we wouldnt choose it again on a weekend. But on other nights, it is an ideal place to meet people.

We stayed at the hostel from Friday to Sunday. The room was perfectly fine and clean. The shared kitchen was quite small for the number of guests and not very clean, but that was not only due to the accommodation but also to the guests. During the day, the location is great—you are right in the center and can walk everywhere quickly and easily. BUT on both nights, it was impossible to sleep until well after 3 a.m. In general, the rooms are quite noisy and you can hear the electronic locks and everyone in the hallway, and thanks to the thin windows, you can also hear all the people and the hustle and bustle on the street (and there are really a lot of people out and about, with posers revving their cars or driving through the streets with loud music every few minutes). You could overlook all of that, and the free earplugs probably help. However, there are one or two clubs nearby whose bass is so piercing that it was impossible to sleep until 3:30 a.m. Even noise-canceling headphones didn't help, as you could feel the vibration and the sounds were certainly 140 bpm. The response from the lady at the reception desk the next day, “it's just downtown,” also left something to be desired.
We had a room facing the street and were there from Friday to Sunday, so it's possible that it's better on other days of the week or at the back. But I really can't recommend this hostel. At least not if you want to sleep. If you're going out to party anyway, it's definitely a good choice. Personally, after two nights, we were so exhausted that the relaxation of the vacation was almost gone.

Wow! I really loved this location and the community was great! I have stayed at multiple hostels in my travels so I am familiar with shared spaces. I stayed in the 8 room female dorm with a shared bathroom. They provide ear plugs and all the guests I encountered were courteous. The price was phenomenal for all of the amenities. I used the kitchen daily and loved all of the community space to hang out. I was able to store my luggage upon early arrival and for my late departure. They even have a bar and esspresso/coffee. They have an amazing rooftop area as well! The staff were very kind and helpful. I was impressed by how clean and organized they keep everything. I would definitely recommend this place to any other solo travelers. 10 out of 10.

Beautiful and friendly hostel. Rooms are cleaned daily. Very friendly staff. The owner is lovely and has a beautiful dog. The bar area is a plus, full of sofas, chairs, and all kinds of games. Last but not least, a magnificent terrace overlooking the main street downtown. The kitchen is open 24/7. Super central location.

The location is excellent, with easy access to food options and shops. I stayed in an 8-bed female dorm, and the room was very spacious with its own private bathroom and a hairdryer provided. However, the storage space is insufficient, and there is no bedside reading light for each bed, which would have improved comfort.

The common area is large and very impressive, offering plenty of space to relax. The kitchen is well equipped and even provides free seasonings, which is a great bonus for travelers. Overall, a comfortable stay, though minor improvements in room amenities would make it even better.**

"LOFT-HI ECO HOSTEL AND BAR " was my residence in Reykjavik. This Hostel sits on Bankastraeti, right on the end of the main shopping street in Reykjavik, Laugavegur. This places it central to all of the major sites of the downtown area. Hallgrimskirkja church, the Harpa Concert Hall, the National Gallery of Iceland, the Sun Voyager statue and the Parliament House are all within walking distance from "Loft-Hi" hostel. Loft Hi Hostel, its Bar and Venue that brings people together has been voted as the Best HI Hostel and Best Hostel in Iceland. On the 4th floor is a guest dining hall cum kitchen that is excellent for cooking and saving expences in the World's costliest city.

Originally stayed at Loft hostel in 2021 and came back for one night while passing through Iceland on my way back to the US. The female dorms were comfortable and nicely sized for six women. Attached bathroom and shower and hooks for coats and towels, although many were too high for shorter or elderly guests, which was problematic. There are also zero trash cans or recycling in the rooms which was an odd choice. WiFi was very good in the room. Depending what room you're in, you will face the street and have some street noise. Rooms can also get quite warm with the 24 hour sun. The hostel is self check in and staff was helpful when one code didn't work to access the rooms. Kitchen is well equipped on the fourth floor but can get very busy. Overall, would recommend it but probably would not stay again. Not a bad option though if you're in town for a short period of time.

As a solo traveler, I enjoyed my stay in a female only dorm (8 beds). It was clean and I was comfortable. I felt safe. Katherina, Alice, and Carolina were very helpful. The location is at the city center and a short block from bus stop #6 (Culture House) and near the rainbow street. For tour pick up, that is the bus stop they will pick up from. There is a Kronan Supermarket a block away and a taxi line. I was able to leave my bags safely before my evening flight. To take the fly bus from the airport, you will transfer to the yellow shuttle from the terminal. I was able to walk (20 minutes) from the hostel to the bus terminal to get the fly bus to KEF.

Amazing hostel, I really enjoyed my stay here. Fully furnished, the rooms are clean and with private bathroom, the kitchen is big and with a lot of free stuffs to use, a big and nice common area, a strong wifi that allows to work remotely as I do, amazing staff, special mention for Michele the Italian bartender and Karolina. Very kind, friendly and funny :) I would definitely recommend this place and will be back.

My friends and I touring Iceland came here on a Sat night around 9pm. It was still early enough where they had an acoustic guitarist singing cover songs. It wasn't that busy and had available seating at the time. It was nice and chill and we got to sing along too! However sometime later they started taking away the tables and chairs and more and more and MORE people started pouring in! Young crowd too. We got super lucky bc a group of people left their booth table which ended up being right by the DJ. At this point the it was a packed club (which I didn't expect at all lol). As with any packed club, it was very hard to get drinks and to move anywhere in the bar, and there was a long line for the bathroom to which my friends also added that 2 chicks got in a fight (sounds kinda interesting actually). They played American Music the rest of the night and even with the negative aspects of busy clubs, I still had a grand time, but of course alcohol helps lol.

Top quality sound system, my wife and I heard the music (and revellers) extremely clearly in my hotel over 50 metres away and all night long to boot! The set was top notch with good flow and a good selection of various upbeat music, the sound system made it so clear I could "shazam" over 80% of the DJ's set!
What an experience!
11/10 would definitely not sleep again!

Don't even think of going there. The worst club I have ever been to. 200 people cramped in a place where it can hold maximum 50 People spilling beer all over the place, drunk fightings, I can go on and on.

Staff were bullies and assholes!
Bought drinks in the sports bar which was quite still at the time, and then got threatened with a beating by the bouncers if I didn't move over to the much louder club next door. That wasn't the place or atmosphere I signed up for. Stay clear!
31.12.2017 Chelsea
Went there during a non rush period (around 1430) and left after 30 minutes...our drink order hadn’t even been taken. My mom went up to the bar to try to place an order there and she said she’d send someone right over. We waited about 10 more minutes, during which the server blatantly ignored us, before we left. We got our fish and chips down the street at Drunken Rabbit— much better experience!
23.11.2017 Chris
Visited during dinner hours thirsty and hungry. Very disappointed with lacklustre service and staff that didn't seem terribly interested in being there. Food was disappointing. Only saving grace was that beer was cold. Would not recommend.
23.10.2017 Garry
Good. Enjoyed food with decent portions. Costs more than you would expect but this is iceland so not bad for here.
07.08.2017 Dennis
I thought the good was just OK. Fish and Chips is probably the best.
Service is slow and not very attentive. Not very aware of customer's needs, and sometimes feel like being ignored.
Feels pricy for the food served.

Maybe because this is a PUB, not a restaurant.

Overall, its still not a bad place to come to. But there are other places in the area that you can pay a little more to get much better food.
