Location

Fosshotel Westfjords is situated at Aðalstræti 100 in Patreksfjordur, Iceland, positioned right by the fjord with views of both the sea and surrounding mountains. The hotel lies on the edge of town, approximately a 10-minute walk from the center where local restaurants and groceries can be found. It is also close to the harbor, making it convenient for exploring maritime activities. The nearest airport, Isafjordur (IFJ), is 66 kilometers away, accessible by car. The hotel’s location provides easy access to natural sights in the Westfjords while being integrated into the small town environment, with a gas station nearby. Guests should note the proximity to the highway and flagpoles outside, which can be noisy in windy conditions.

Tips

  • Book rooms with fjord views well in advance to secure the best views, as these tend to sell out early.

Perfect! From the first moment i entered the room i felt like crying for my happiness.
It is true i had been camping the last week before that but, the rooms are warm, there is a kettle and some coffee and tea, maybe the shower would be great to have like a door of glass and not a curtain.
The breakfast was out of this world as you can imagine by the pictures.
Overall the room could not have been better and the service was on point.
All the tourist attractions are nearby and the town feels lovely with the views upon the sea.
I would without a doubt repeat a stay here for sure.

A nice hotel conveniently located near restaurants, groceries, and the harbor. Wonderfully friendly staff. Large rooms with private baths. I didn't pay for the breakfast because it was ridiculously expensive for what is offered, so don't know if it is good. Overall, a nice hotel in a lovely town.

Very nice hotel in a lovely location with great views. The evening meal was good as was the breakfast too. Staff very friendly and helpful. Not much in the local town but there is a little restaurant worth a visit. The rooms are well-equipped and clean, though a little soulless. As we found in quite a number of hotels, unless you are travelling on a coach tour it is harder to get the best view rooms as they are all booked up; independent travellers need to book such rooms well in advance (although we did book in January and stayed late-July, but even then had a rear view - which was okay - because they "were all booked up". So, all in all nice-enough.

The hotel is simple yet elegant. Nordic hotels often appear simple, but once you enter, you're completely comfortable. Compared to hotels in Asia, the rooms seem quite spacious, but considering this is a remote fishing village in the Westfjords, having such a modern and comfortable hotel is a luxury in itself. The hotel restaurant is amazing. The menu is simple, and we ordered the usual lamb and fish dishes. The meat was tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned. It was truly delicious. The service was also excellent. We had come from a long distance that day, and the restaurant was supposed to close at 9:30 PM. However, the front desk, the restaurant, and the kitchen were waiting for us, patiently serving us. It was truly touching.

Wonderful location. Convenient and easy parking. Definitely, one of the best 4 starts hotels in Iceland. Will return.

Good chain-hotel, clean, and you get what you expect from Fosshotels. The drawback is that the breakfast is OK, but not always quality ingredients, also the dinner was very expensive for a small portion and not even good quality. p.s. In the town is a much better place for dinner.

The hotel is on the beach, with a highway just outside the door and a large parking lot. The environment is detached and integrated into nature. It is located on the edge of the town, and it takes ten minutes to walk to the central restaurant. Please note that the town has two floors.

We had a nice room, more sockets would be nice though. But bathroom etc. was fine.

Great hotel. Rooms were nice and a great welcome by the reception staff.
I forgot the name of the bartender. He just started here two weeks ago and came from Poland. Definitely a keeper. I would hire him if I had a restaurant. He gave a great guest experience and knew what hospitality means

While traveling in Iceland, my family and I used this hotel as base camp (four nights!) for our time in the Westfjords and we were so happy we stayed here! I say this mainly because of the AMAZING staff! But we also enjoyed the hotel's setting by the water and the food in the restaurant. (I highly recommend the Arctic char!) Our room was clean, adequate, and had a lovely view of the mountain behind the hotel, which we had the great fortune to see in all kinds of weather including rainbows and snow!

But let me go back to the staff... Because we were there four nights, we had a wonderful opportunity to connect with the staff, many of whom had just arrived to start their season. We experienced exceptional hospitality from Anne, Dora, Hubert and Sam, among others. These four wonderful humans were so gracious and went above and beyond to make sure our time there was enjoyable and comfortable. Super special shout-out to Anne who helped us repeatedly with weather and road conditions and recommendations for adventures. In fact, it was sad when we checked out the morning of our departure and had to say goodbye. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It was the perfect place to call home for four days in beautiful Patreksfjörður!
