Not sure how can this property be called 5 star hotel. And we are stuck for 3 more nights as cannot cancel due to third party booking

Bad stay
1. The room allotted to me was an old room which had a shared door with next room but i was also able to open it... This is serious security issue....
2. The furniture and the room itself was old and smelly
3. too manu small flies in the room which was disgusting
4. in room service food was pathetic.
5. No restaurant attached

- it’s a dated property in a very poor condition
- swimming pool with no water and dirty
- gym equipments don’t work
- breakfast quality is passable
- bath products looked like sourced from cheap place and harmful
- no Iron in all rooms , so I was asked to use what was available on the floor lobby

Spacious, clean and traditional. Restaurant is not available; Managment should think about this.

This hotel seems that it has not been renovated for several decades. Furniture, floor, bed most of them are old. And there was a musty smell in the room. AlsoI I had an unexpected water outage twice, and when it came out again, rusty water came out, so I couldn't wash and sleep until late at night. And bathtubs didn't drain well, so the water reached my ankles. It was a terrible experience for me.

Absolutely grotesque of a hotel. Service was horrible, took them 20minutes before our luggage was taken up to our room (understaffed). Bare minimal English spoken by bell boy. Hotel room was very deceiving, did not match the photos online. Linens were stained, bathroom was dirty and just horrendous cleanliness. Don't get us started on the smell. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL EVEN IF ITS FOR A FEW HOURS The intention was to freshen up and leave in a few hours (what a mistake it was!)

Very good rooms. Very good infrastructure. Very poor management. Courtesy and politeness are things not known to staff at front office and resturant. Typical governmental attitude and mediicrity. Horrible dinner at level G which was charged Rs 1500 for dry roti and some cheap veg dishes. Worst dinner I ever had in my travel across 24 countries. On the second night I ordered room service which was a bit better.

We had our Sunday Lunch at The Samavar, 24/7 Coffee Shop at Ashoka Hotel. I should admit a very Colonial ambiance of the restaurant and a good view through big wooden window, it’s a well-lighted place with a lot of Sunlight and very peaceful to have coffee!
However, the restaurant lacks modern outlook, staff & Quality of food :
1) Food : We had buffet which was laid unlike a 5 Star Hotel style. There was choice of only 2 Non-vegetarian and 4 Vegetarian. The Chinese was very Indian Style (not acceptable in 5 star hotel). They only had one choice of soup and it was very normal.
2)Live Artist : They also have a live piano player during Dinner, who is very OKAY.
3)Staff : Staff is nice and caring
Overall, It was a okay experience but would request the management to give a deep look at the overall renovation of this place and market it well to get more people to experience
