Simsan Hotel in Chennai

Very badly maintained & run down property. This used to be an excellent hotel many years ago but now run down & in very bad shape after change in management & name. There are much better options in the vicinity & now it's better to avoid unless there is no other option available.

I will share my experience 1st we went as a family for that hotel as the building was big and reception lobby was great but after booking the room only we came to know it was not a hotel for family members. Staffs are rude, reception people are very rude. Then room was filled with cigarette smell as it is centralized ac, ac didn't cum but cigeratte smell came very well, tv didn't work, floors are not cleaned & when we complained they r giving reply in a rude manner and arguing with us toilet was built in an ancient period and room was very dirty. Then restaurant in simson was very expensive but if u ask the menu they will reply us in a threatening way we don't have. Not my family alone faced this problem people who were there also telling this place is not a place for family members. I haven't seen any of the hotel that staffs are ordering and rude to customers. Better don't go believing the lobby and big building they are cheating us...

Stayed in the hotel in August and had bitter experience with the staff. From extra beds to water bottle - you have to ask everything and they take at least 30 minutes for each request. Room wouldn't be prepared for you prior.

Rooms: it's a very old hotel with renovated exterior and party hall. For the rooms - smelly and old. Bathrooms are rusty and can see molds. Even the flush didn't work. Room haven't been cleaned for a long time and catched dust everywhere. So, couldn't use the cupboard and had to leave luggage on the floor. If anyone concerned, TV was fine.

Food: Food was OK and there is a complimentary breakfast. They serve food to the room. But it takes unreasonable time to prepare even a simple food like dosa. You had to call the restaurant multiple times.

Staff: Above all, the staff are the worst. I have ordered food and asked for bill. They refused to provide one and during checkout I insisted to get one. After fued with restaurant and reception staff, they provided the bill. It took almost 30 minutes to get a duplicate bill. They don't coordinate well, so it's upto you to walk between offices. I recommend to check-out early to accomodate these people. They're just slow and ignorant.

Locality is good, 15 minutes from KMBT.
