A brilliant hotel just outside the town. We went half board and the food was brilliant, even gave us a packed lunch on morning we left. No complaints on food good quality. Bar area and drinks was good as well. Walk from hotel to town/ local shops was 10 mins. Easy to get the free hotel ski bus to the lift each morning. But we got a ski bus pass for local ski buses as well to give us options, only 9 euros from hotel. Hotel was a little dated but no worries at all for us. We had room in loft 5th floor was huge bedrooms and lots of storage space. Low ceilings though so banged head a few times but got used to it. Had a lovely balcony as well and could see mountains, enjoyed that. Staff were attentive and kind. Spa was great, hot tubs and saunas and steam room, inside and outside. A pool. Relax areas. Paid extra to use but was reasonable price. Only issue was kids played in pool before 5pm, which is supposed to be adult only. Ruined the tranquility a little. Overall thou was a great hotel, good food and good value for money.

Disappointing dated hotel. Breakfast was ok, Buffett style with eggs, cold meats, croissants etc. Dinner had to be chosen the night before and unfortunately not always something I would choose. We ate out at a gorgeous pizza place a few times just to have a break from the food. As for the bedrooms, well to say I was disappointed was the understatement. I was sharing with a friend and we have two tiny (not standard size) single beds that would be more suited to children. I’m 5’11 and kept rolling out. Our view was the metal fire escape and the room was always boiling hot as no was to turn down the hot radiators so we had to keep the window open all night. The one pillow was thin and uncomfortable. Sadly some of the staff in the restaurant were quite rude and didn’t make it an enjoyable experience. The room to keep your skis and boots isn’t locked and located at the front where anyone could wander in! Also it was too far out of town and having to get the bus everyday was a pain. Some morning we would have to wait for the free shuttle bus to return as too many people waiting. If you don’t mind a tired dated old fashioned hotel then go ahead and book but I definitely would never return or recommend!!

With 2 families we visited this family hotel. First of all we did not get the rooms that we had booked. We were crammed into simple, small rooms. This is really a hotel where they do NOT understand anything about hospitality. Management cannot deal with customers. The food was really really bad! We weren’t even finshed with eating and the staff already took our plates. They started with changing the restaurant for breakfast and guests were still having dinner. All the hospitality rules were exceeded. Only a few people from the staff were nice and friendly. It was really dissapointing!

We stayed at Hotel Il Caminetto from 21-38th February for a week of skiing. We were family group of 8 ranging in ages from 14-61 years. We found the location of the hotel great & whilst I wouldn’t have liked to have had to walk to the ski lift there was no need. We used the free hotel shuttle bus every day which worked perfectly. We never had to wait more than a few minutes at either end! There is the option of paying for a ski bus pass but we never felt the need to use this. Our room for 3 was ample big enough with plenty of storage & a fantastic view down the valley. Our son and his partner were above the entertainment area & never had a problem sleeping. No problem with nightclub or people leaving. Breakfast was good & an amazing choice, no one ever went hungry. Evening meal was a choice of salad buffet/soup followed by a two course choice which you choose the night before. The menu gave a good variety and once again none of our party ever went hungry. If you went down after 7.45pm the salad buffet was rather sparse so could have done with a top up for those who chose to eat a little later. We found the waiting staff & reception manager lovely. Always happy to have a laugh & plenty of cutlery which was displayed in the same place daily so never a problem to find. Water came at a cost on the evening but that was no surprise as we have always paid for water at hotels on an evening. We didn’t use the spa/sauna area so can’t comment on how that was. Shame you had to pay extra, I’d rather have paid more for the accommodation & had it included. We had a great week of skiing with clear blue skies & perfect conditions on the slopes. A real pleasure to ski in such a beautiful area & come back to such a great hotel. Would highly recommend!!

Just returned from a week skiing with Crystal holidays at the hotel Il Caminetto Hotel, Canazei and had to write a review as it was a great holiday. Ignore the negative reviews, the food was excellent for those willing to eat something other than beige deep fried British food. Perhaps Blackpool would suit them better. The staff were friendly and professional and didn't all speak fluent English but guess what, you are in Italy!!! The only slight downside of the hotel is that it is quite far from the apres ski, the free hotel shuttle bus is great for mornings and after skiing but it does curtail the after dinner drinking in town, although the hotel bar did it's best to offer entertainment most evenings. The ski area is superb and the infrastructure and lift system is fabulous. Would definitely return...

Prestige Twin Room - with Half Board (7 nights). Location: Yes its about a 25 minute walk to the town ski gondola. But the buses are frequent (9 euros for the week) and right at the bottom of the (100 metre ish) ramp up the hotel. This road is never gritted or cleared of snow - so beware!. Room: What made this room a 'prestige' room was not clear - dont get me wrong - it was a nice, if compact, room. Good quality bathroom / shower, plenty of hot water, good central heating & a fridge. Not enough room though to put our suitcases anywhere but at the bedside - which meant they were in the way all the time. The single wooden chair supplied in the room we had to put out on the corridor as we couldn't open the balcony door with it in the room. Noise: Never heard any music noise despite our room being above the theatre/disco (open twice per week) - but did hear some drunks leaving the venue once in the early hours. Food: For evening meal, each day you choose 2 dishes from a choice of 8 & help yourself to desert/salad/bread/soup. Its very italian & very limited for non meat eaters. Expect lots of veal & pork - I found it all very good - but my friends did not. Staff: The man on the front desk (manager?) was devoid of any personality / conversation - not even saying thank you when we settled the tab (in either italian or english). On checkin (half a coach worth) - only a single person was performing check-in - whilst the above mentioned man messed about in the backroom. Other staff were generally fine - if unclear on what was being asked for. Most pleasant was the lady on reception - who perhaps was the only multilingual member of staff! Spa/Sauna - much better than the photos suggest - though they dont open until 1500 - and I think they only turn the sauna/steamroom on a little before as the the saunas were not worth bothering with even by 1600 (when our 60mins was up). Restaurant: Layout / organisation = shambles. Every single day have to go off hunting for a bowl, or a spoon. Waiters will clear your table but not replace any cutlery - meaning you have to go off and look for things whilst your dinner goes cold. Dont expect any free/tap water. Entertainment: Of the 7 nights in the hotel, we had 4 nights entertainment. Very italian - but its Italy! and the majority of guests are italian. Entertainment was pretty good - apart from the italian music quiz night.. Its such a trek into town - you wont want to leave the hotel after dinner and go back into town - so having a magic show, female/male singer was appreciated & unexpected.

Went skiing last week and stayed at this hotel Positives Premium rooms were good Spa was good Negatives The manager Lorenzo was extremely rude and grumpy. He even very badly swore at my colleague under his breath in Italian. Which we understood and pointed out to him. He went and hid in his office. The non premium. rooms are very small with dated bathrooms. The food is very bad, so bad I ate out 3 of the 7 nights. It is a mile from the gondola and out of town so a long way to go for Apres. And we didn't pick this hotel they messed up our booking and moved us from a hotel in town

Awful food , really bad waiter service, you felt like a real inconvenience to their lives . The manager, is exceptionally rude swearing in Italian under his breath ( which I could understand) if you asked for anything and had an absolute melt down when we asked for an itemised bill . We were a ski group of 62 and nod one of the group had a good experience of this hotel.

My family and I (5 adults and 3 teenagers) have just returned from a week’s skiing holiday in Canazei, staying at this wonderful, traditional style hotel, between Christmas and New Year. We had a large room for 4 and one of their 2 storey mini apartments, which had 2 shower rooms and a fridge. With daily maid service the rooms were kept beautifully clean and tidy. All the staff were friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, lots of choice and vegetarians (we have two) are well catered for. There is a large bar for meeting up, having a pre dinner drink or playing table top games with friends and family. The hotel itself is a 10 minute walk from the centre, but it has two mini buses and a ski bus stop 50 yds from the main door. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to come back again.

Stayed as part of a TUI/Crystal ski package. Couldn’t ask for more really - as long as you leave your skis at the rental place and walk back from the lift rather than fight to get the bus. Food is good and plentiful if a little meat-heavy. Only experienced minor disturbance from the nightclub and it was from people shouting all the way back into town as they were leaving rather than from the music itself. Overall great hotel and would return.
