Hotel Albatros in Torre Vado

The worst experience in Italy. We booked a suite (2 rooms+1 bathroom) for 2 adults and 2 children and ended up in one very small room with bunk beds. Had to argue for several hours with the front desk staff. Very unpleasant. After two days, they relocated us in a dirty apartment located in an old building across the street from the hotel. The only good thing was the coffee during breakfast.....

We were very disappointed with our stay at Albatros Hotel. Upon arrival, we found a toenail in the bed, which was obviously unsettling. When I brought it to the front desk’s attention, they denied it and claimed everything is sanitized, brushing it off without any apology or effort to make it right.

The air conditioner in our room clearly wasn’t working—it was blazing hot at night (85°F / 29°C)—and when we asked for help, a staff member came, said “it’s working,” and left. It wasn’t. My 7-year-old daughter tossed and turned all night from the heat the first night. Second night they brought us a fan. If there’s supposed to be working air conditioning why would we need a fan?

The beds were like rocks—and the sheets were literally sandpaper making it incredibly hard and uncomfortable, making it even harder to sleep. Not to mention the staff walks the halls with their carts very early and loud slamming doors. When they set up for breakfast early there are chairs dragging making it impossible to sleep in. In addition the cleaning ladies were yelling at each other while cleaning the room just across the way at 8am. This place needs to really make some changes.

The eating area resembles an elementary school cafeteria. Nothing spectacular.

I had to do a little work on my vacation and tried their wifi and it’s pretty much non existent so I wasn’t able to work.

The hotel is very outdated, not particularly clean, and the staff was not friendly or accommodating. On top of that, it’s not centrally located, which made getting around more difficult. It’s at least a 30 min walk to Pesculose Beach.

We travelled for a month all over Europe and Italy and this was by far the worst hotel we stayed. I would not recommend this hotel, especially for families.
