Palazzo Margherita in Bernalda

I had dinner here once and coffee a number of times. Dinner was by father the best I had in Bernalda. Atmosphere, decor and music was divine. And outside seating was my favourite in Bernalda for musing and people watching. The only thing that would have made me like this place more was if the jukebox have been working, which apparently it will be soon!

This is a one-of-a-kind property that exceeds expectations on all dimensions. A jaw dropping gorgeously restored villa that dates back to the late 1800’s. The food, management and staff all are perfect. Literally planing our next visit as we walk out the gate. 10/10.

We visited the Palazzo Margherita in September 2014. There really is no better place to stay in all of Italy. The staff and the facility are fabulous. It is somewhat hard to believe such a fantastic place exists in a quite town in southern Italy given that this part of the country is mostly neglected by the typical tourist.

The rooms are to die for. The food is fantastic and authentic. The staff and management are extremely gracious and attentive but will leave you to your own as well. They will arrange whatever day trip plans you have and also give you their suggestions while packing your beach bag with towels and water or provisons for a countryside tour. This is the real Italy and their is much to experience and see within a quick trip from Bernalda.

Make sure you visit the ceramics mecca about an hour away. Story has it a family with orginally one cermaics business has sprouted into seven or so. We lost count, but they are all within blocks of each other. The brothers have all set up their own shops. All their works are fantastic and different from each other. We shipped several platters back home.

You could stay inside the Palazzo's grounds all day relaxing by the pool, but you should get out and walk around or bike beyond the town into the countyside. If your lucky they might arrange a local to walk you through the older part of town and provide you its history. We did and many doors were opened to us to taste foods they were cooking, to buy home made pastries, vegatables and sundried tomatoes we brought back to the hotel's kitchen that they included in our evening meal.

I hoping the nearby park bocce courts are fixed up when we return. Can't wait!

Just great and unique! You really do feel like it's yours, the whole experience is like a big family home, wonderful rooms, real Italian town, not affected by tourists, great food, but above all its so friendly. Great for a couple of nights in a trip.

My wife and I spent a few nights here at Palazzo Margherita as beginning of our honeymoon. This place is literally a heaven on earth, a piece of paradise hidden in the south of Italy. Absolutely stunning experience from the beginning until the end of stay. The place, The staff, The service, The food, The garden everything is impeccable. This place encapsulates the best of Basilicata and the Coppola legacy. It is our honor to watch movies in the room where Coppola family used to be in, also a dinner under the same gazebo where Sofia Coppola has her wedding. As a longtime fan, we could not ask for anything more… I spent over one year travel around Italy, and cannot think of any place that can do better than this. We will come back here again someday.

Palazzo Margherita was an amazing stay - I didn't want to leave! The staff are so helpful and kind, the food is amazing (especially the potatoes) and the rooms were so nice! Pasta making was a great experience and now I know how to make it at home. The garden outside is amazing as well as the pool. I would definitely go again if I had the chance. Five STARS!! 🤩🤩🤩

First clients after 18 months of closing and the experience was fabulous… never seen a service and palazzo like this one. So peaceful. We came 2 nights to have a break just after our wedding in Puglia, and the staff was so welcoming.
Its a 5* experience, but you feel like at home. Breakfast is very good.
Thank you we will come back to visit the region!
