Staying in a cave room but having an entryway in the room with windows out on the gorgeous Matera scenery is perfect. We also had a porch with chairs to sit outside. The breakfast was amazing! Fresh and delicious food served to us by the most welcoming people you could ask for, Angela and Agnese. We also had a wonderful piano player, Gianni, at breakfast every day - now that's a first for us!. If we went back to Matera, which we hope to do some day, we would stay here again. The only negative is WiFi is not reliable in our room. Unfortunately across all of southern Italy our 5g T-mobile plan didn't work either so we used physical maps. We stayed a week and so were able to see a lot of this magnificent area. Most people only stay two or three nights and I feel that is not enough.

This hotel was absolutely amazing! Staff, owner, location all fantastic and right in Sassi! Breakfast every morning was exceptional. Bedroom is a cave. Bathroom, beds all perfect.

From the owner to his entire staff, the service was BEST in class! We will cherish our memories of our time at this beautiful hotel but more importantly the people we met!

Beautiful hotel in the perfect location if you want to be right in the Sassi di Matera. Great restaurants and shops nearby, staff were all very friendly.

A nice boutique hotel with friendly staff at a good location with restaurants nearby. We booked two rooms - the room on 2nd floor is good but the one on ground floor smells a bit of mould. Perhaps because it’s inside a cave. Breakfast choice is limited with fruits, toast with tomatoes, and cakes. You can order boiled or scrambled eggs as this is the only hot food they serve. We are fine with that but more as fyi.

You can experience the ancient cave hotel, all the staff are friendly, the breakfast is delicious and there is nothing lacking.
