Don Milani in Matera

SCREAMING HOST. Appartament smells bad like a house of old people. The owner of 70-80 years old and he lives in one of the rooms. The water is super cold (no hot water). When we complained to the owner, he said he doesn’t turn on hot water on purpose to save money (“it’s healthy to have a cold shower”). Horrible when you need to wash your long hair and it takes time.

The fridge works only when the light of the room is on, super noisy. Can you imagine to sleep with light? You have to choose or working fridge or normally sleeping. Useless.

The owner is the most disrespectful person I’ve ever met in my life. I’m always super friendly, he always responded in a rude way. You can clearly see that he hates to host in his apartment tourists.

I messaged him in the morning at 7 am saying we would come back for the check out at 11. He started to attack me saying that the check out was at 10. So why on booking it says at 11?? It’s an important detail since we planned to visit a museum that opens at 10 before doing check out. When we came back to the room to do check out at 10 as he rudely asked us, he started to SCREAM AT US. How dared we were to think to do check out at 11? THE HOST IS CRAZY! Seriously! We would be absolutely right to do check out at 11, because it’s what we payed for. He didn’t even thank us, he screamed at us. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

The property is a bit dated, consisting of two rooms in an apartment shared with the elderly owner.
There's little privacy, but most importantly, the bathroom isn't ensuite, so it's very small and not very clean.
The location is convenient because it's close to the Sassi.
The owner (Mr. Mimmo) was very kind.

The B&B is a very neglected, old-fashioned house located near the historic center, easy to reach, and managed by a man who lives on the premises. There's an unpleasant musty smell and it's not very clean.
There's no privacy when using the bathroom, nor in the rooms. It's a very dated apartment. We had booked a double room and were given a twin room. The bathroom is very small and definitely uncomfortable.
We preferred to leave before checking in.

Beware the landlord is extremely rude, he is not used to receive guests.
