Villa Bellavista Alba in Alba

I booked and had to pay in advance for 4 nights here. I usually don’t like to do that but the reviews were all so good it seemed like a great place to stay so I did. Unfortunately I had rented a SUV and the agency gave me a large Hyundai. It was not the best for Italian roads. I’m used to driving in Italy. I’ve driven all over including the Amalfi Coast numerous times. However when I saw the roads approaching this place some of which were partially dirt I wished I was at Amalfi. We arrived at Bellavista tired from the experience. Lorena greeted us and she is pleasant. She is proud of the facility as she also lives there. She and her husband renovated the place. The views are nice. She had made dinner reservations for us which entailed going down the other side of the mountain, up another mountain to a quaint tiny town I never would have found. Dinner was wonderful. The drive back at night was an adventure I never wanted to repeat. My wife was in tears. I’m a New Yorker and used to difficult drives but this could potentially be deadly. I told Lorena the next morning we had to leave and why. I offered to pay for 2 nights but wanted 2 back. She said no, you paid for 4. IF I can rent out the room I’ll give you a refund. I was upset and said now I know why you make people pay in advance and we left. Do yourself a favor don’t pay in advance if you book this place
