Hotel is well located and room looks nice and mostly clean (some mold around bottom of the shower) but the service is poor. The lights in the room lose power around every 45 minutes requiring the circuit breaker to be flipped and reset them which is ridiculous. WiFi signal is terrible and even when a signal is available the speed is very very slow. Staff are nice but speak almost exclusively Italian. There is no "do not disturb" sign for the rooms and staff are very persistent calling and banging the door simply because they want to clean on the first day. The street outside is very noisy and the room lets in a lot of noise. If you're a heavy sleeper just looking for a central place to sleep at night with a nice bed this hotel is fine but if you will spend some time in the room during your stay I would look elsewhere as better can be had for the same price.

CAUTION: if you're planning a trip to palermo, sicily, do not book a room at the Hotel Gallery House! for whatever reason it's got very good ratings on some booking websites, what you actually get, though, is what you can see in the pictures attached to this post.

first of all, the place is not what you'd expect when booking a HOTEL: it's not a seperate structure but rather one level of a huge commercial building. after we complained to the staff about the condition of our first room, we got moved to a supposedly better room, but as it turned out the second room was just as run-down as the first one was. particularly the bathrooms were totally unacceptable: the toilet seat fell of the bowl. the shower cabins were not properly sealed, everytime we had a shower the bathroom ended up being completely flooded. the wallpapers, the windows and the furniture looked more than shabby and many items were not fully functional.

furthermore, none of the rooms had a ceiling light. there was no safe in the rooms. in the morning, staff would chat loudely in the hallway which made it impossible to sleep in. on the third night, ultra loud music on another floor of the building kept us from sleeping until midnight. after another fruitless complaint, we checked out the next morning since we couldn't take it anymore.

Room itself looks decent enough. Our room did not have cups, mugs, tea and kettle like other rooms. You need to lift the shower door up yourself as it is drooping and will not close. The shower has mould everywhere to the point that one of this hinges is damaged and makes a loud cracking noise. The power occasionally cuts out and you need to turn it back on yourself (probably need to stay with two people so you don't get stuck in the dark in the bath room). The wifi struggles to maintain connection.
