Hotel Garden in Garda

This is a quiet smallish hotel a short wander from the main Lake Garda promenade.
The decor is a bit dated and we had a mountain view room out the back which was quite small. The bathroom was particularly dated and the shower could do with an upgrade. Having said that it was functional and comfortable.
The pool area is large and with enough sunbeds for all. However we wouldn't recommend this hotel for families with small children, it really is a couples hotel.

We had a really nice time here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The view is beautiful and the pool is a nice place to spend hours or days. The hotel is about 2 minutes from the old part of Garda town and there is no shortage of places to eat.

Breakfast is a buffet - cereal, croissants, cake, fruit, bread, cheese - plus eggs/omelette to order. It's decent but not amazing (carnivores or eggs Benedict fiends may miss out).

Lunch is served by the pool. The menu is well priced, around €9-12 for main courses, mainly pasta and salads.

No evening meal is served but it's minutes to restaurants in town.

The pool is clean and attractive. It's about 20m long (guess). It's 0.8m deep in one half and then drops to 2.2m in the other half, so good for swimmers and non-swimmers but not perfect for either. Meaning, not ideal for lengths, and you do need to be in with young kids.

They have simple city-type bikes which you can borrow for free, and seemed well maintained. There is a basic gym with lots of weights machines (but no cardio or pilates type equipment).

There are four tennis courts but we didn't use them. In summer you'd have to be very sure you want to play tennis in heat and direct sun.

All rooms have a balcony. The front rooms look over the pool and lake. The back room views are nothing special but also fine. Our room had a safe, mini fridge, cupboards.

The hotel is pretty quiet. Thunder from the mountains and the occasional ambulance or over-enthusiastic motorcyclist was all we heard. Thankfully no music in common areas.

There is WiFi at an adequate speed for our kids to watch Netflix on the laptop.

I would not describe this as a luxury hotel. It's friendly, clean and attractive. If an extensive gym, power shower, spa etc are your thing, you might look elsewhere.

Overall, for us it was near-perfect, and thank you to the staff for your welcome and kindness. In hindsight I have only two suggestions for the owners which are (1) it would be nice to have a kettle in the room, and (2) a pump/puncture repair kit with the bikes - we had no need of one but I would always take them on my own bike at home.

Wonderful family hotel. It is not 5 star but staff work hard to ensure a happy friendly and comfortable stay. No evening meals available - but plenty of quality options available within 5 minutes walk

Lovely hotel, a little dated decor, spotlessly clean. Friendly helpful staff. Fabulous pool area, with ample sun loungers.

We had a fantastic stay at the very charming Hotel Garden. The staff are very friendly and helpful, so you feel very welcome.
A lovely breakfast is served, and there is the opportunity to enjoy a good lunch under the grape vines.
In the evening it was wonderful to enjoy a drink on the lovely terrace.
We will definitely be back next summer.

Very kid friendly! And the pool and rooms are very clean the bedding and beds are very good also a full bed, no sofa bed that is great! The food was fantastic! Very friendly staff, they would drop everything for the best for you and you family.

Beautiful hotel, family run, staff all very attentive and friendly. Rooms clean and fresh, food tasty - looking forward to returning soon!
