Wow, what a great place. It's a hot spring hotel with traditional Japanese rooms that are comfortable and spotless. There are no attached bathrooms as you are meant to use the hotel spring and showers on the ground floor. The decor is lovely with hardwood polished floors and inspiring decorations. Excellent value. Walking distance to all the nearby onsen, and it has a free tattoo friendly Onsen for guests. Paid ¥1600 for a tent in an air-conditioned room. You get a nice comfy futon setup and linens are starchy clean.

We had a great time at matsukiso! First we stayed in one of the indoor camping tents where we had a much better night than we thought we would have( the room has two big aircons and also a window you can open) Upon arrival we were welcomed very kindly by the owner/manager. We decided to stay two more nights and got an upgrade to a Japanese style private room with lots of space that we really enjoyed...

I used this hotel for one night with a friend during a trip to Kyushu. I can honestly say that the accommodations exceeded my expectations. Some parts of the hotel look old if you look closely, but it is excellent value for money. The hot spring was achiatic and very pleasant.
