Beppu, 5-17 Chuo 🧭 Map
Clean room and convenient location, convenience store right opposite of the hotel. The room is spacious as well. We were lucky to have a room that can see the fireworks from our hotel room window. It was a nice stay.
Everything was very good, except the temperature in the room, because it’s super warm in winter, and it can’t be controlled in the room. Hotspring was very nice!
Kim at the front desk was very nice and helped us with changing to non smoking room without much hassle. Deserve 5 stars
The twin room was 26 square meters, clean and tidy. I stayed on the 16th floor, where I could see Beppu Bay to the left and trains arriving and departing from the station to the right. Both breakfast and dinner were substantial, and a special highlight was being able to try the local specialty, 'Jigoku Mushi' (hell-steamed dishes), cooked with 98-degree hot water directly from the onsen.
Hotel has nice hot spring. Single room typical Japanese style but a bit narrow to accommodate 24” luggage with both sides fully open. Buffet has good spread, but the meat stew serving was limited, after 8am there’s no more meat in the stew, left with the carrots, lotus roots etc. should refill as the buffet ends 930am. Like the hot noodles.
The location is decent, about a 5-minute walk from the JR station. The hotel facilities are a bit old, but the cleanliness is acceptable. The room didn't have much of a view and you could hear the train. The onsen and breakfast areas were very crowded. This Kamenoi wasn't as good as the one we stayed at previously in Toba. The hot springs in Beppu are definitely worth visiting!

I have been here several times because they have an amazing spa/Onsen! Location is very central and super clean
A lovely relaxing hotel right on the Beppu beach road. There was a definite air of old seaside town about the place and it was very chill - the onsen in the hotel itself was very nice and wasn't at all busy when we were there.
The breakfast however did get quite crowded with tour groups so going down later worked the best for us - if you had to go in peak time there was often a queue.
The room...
The room's window opens to an unobstructed view of the blue sky, and the hotel's hot spring is very comfortable. The space isn't large but it's cozy, very clean, and quiet.
Excellent value for money, convenient for transportation and shopping, and the hotel facilities and surroundings were all great. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Beppu. I hope more Chinese-speaking tourists choose this hotel.
The room was quite clean, and it even had a hot spring. The surrounding area is very convenient with plenty of food options. It's right next to the Oita TV Tower and not far from the JR station. The yakiniku (grilled meat) and tempura places nearby were absolutely delicious.
The hotel is right next to Beppu Tower, and Beppu Station is also very close. It looks really nice at night. There are two supermarkets nearby, which is convenient for buying food, and it's also easy to get to several hot springs. I'm writing this review a long time after my stay, so I've forgotten if there was a hot spring in the hotel itself.

Beppu, 10-2-33 Ishigaki-Higashi, Beppu-shi, Oita 🧭 Map
I stayed here because I had to go to the ferry terminal early in the morning.
It was very convenient, with Toyoken (a famous chicken tempura restaurant) nearby and a supermarket within walking distance.
The bath is indoors, but it was very clean and nice.
I was able to watch YouTube on the TV in the room.
The breakfast selection was quite good. The only downside was that the hotel parking lot was across the street. It just so happened that it was raining heavily the day I arrived. The room was spacious and the view from the window was beautiful. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time.
The lady at the front desk was very kind and said she would like to stay again with her children.
They were very kind, thank you very much.
It was a fun trip.
I stayed in a smoking room. I'm a smoker so it was good because there are only non-smoking rooms available these days.
The breakfast was also delicious and I ate too much.
The hotel staff were always smiling and helpful so I was very satisfied.
Triple room for a family of four.
The hot spring is only an indoor bath, but it's great value for money.
I recommend not ordering breakfast, but looking for a place that serves breakfast instead!
The hotel is a bit old, but the staff is friendly and the accommodation is clean.
Above all, the parking lot is large and parking is free, making it a great place to travel by rental car.

This hotel has such a romantic, old-style charm. The bedroom was incredibly spacious—we even managed to have a family supper for 8 people comfortably inside! The onsen is also very nice and relaxing. A wonderful choice if you like a classic feel and plenty of room.
So nice, quiet, clean room and has a good service for the customers.
The food was good both in the evening and in the morning, but the bathroom, toilet and washbasin were all in one place and there was a step between the bathroom and the hallway, so there is room for improvement.
I don't like this hotel in Beppu. It's too old.
The neighborhood is quiet and suitable for a family of 4.
Washing machine is free, but you need to buy detergent (it's good to prepare detergent)
Rooms are spacious, but they are old.
Open-air bath has a nice view
Beppu Station shuttle is available for free, but the last stop is 5pm
I had a great time because of the clean interior and comfortable bathroom. The open-air bath was especially nice and it was a good place to stay. As for cleanliness, the foreign substances in the sink area were not cleaned well. Other than that, it was a really clean place to stay.

No on site car park and have to use a nearby car park which is 600 yen per entry. The don’t clean the room daily but can change your towel if you want. We left our trash and dirty towel outside, they don’t replace with new trash bag or put new towels in bag n hang outside door. So hv to collect from reception personally
When I booked, it only showed the room, not that it was in an annex building. We ended up being placed in the building next door, which had much simpler facilities and was significantly smaller. I'm not sure what the reasoning was. To take a bath, I had to carry a basket out and go to the main building. The slippers provided were also very slippery. It was very inconvenient, especially in the cold...
The hotel room is a little small and bed is soft but overall still quite good for location and front desk service.
It's a bit of a walk from the station, and dragging luggage was a bit tough. A taxi costs around 850 yen. However, transportation in Miyazaki is quite inconvenient; you need to book a taxi in advance to get back to the station from the hotel, as it's hard to hail one from the street. Other than that, everything else was good, and breakfast was included.
Absolutely love the roof top pool and onsen at the next building. Love the view. Will stay again because of it. Near to station as well.
This hotel offers incredible value for money – it's so good, I almost want to keep it a secret!
However, I've seen a negative review claiming someone couldn't get back into the hotel at night, and I want to clarify that. That person's review is completely baseless. The only reason they couldn't get back in is because they forgot their room card. While staff at the annex building do leave at 11 PM...

Hot spring hotel. Both indoor and outdoor hot sphring. Nice people. Buffet breakfast serves with both Japanese and western food.
I find this hotel to be of great value. They have a free parking lot for guests, give out a 500yen coupon for the convenience store nearby as a gift and their rooms are huge. The view from the rooms is good too! You can see the mountains and the public baths.
The only thing about this hotel is that it isn’t authentic. Their outdoor bathing area allows people to wear swimming costumes. But it was definitely...
As part of a tour group, I wasn't sure what to expect, but our stay at this resort exceeded my expectations! The entire property felt brand new, and the amenities were thoughtfully provided for. The hotel service is very good, the room is clean and tidy, and the sea hell is nearby

No frill hotel but meet all your needs. The important thing is that it is close to the bus station that takes you everywhere.
The location is super convenient, just 200 meters from Beppu Station. It's a standard compact Japanese hotel, nothing to complain about.
A business hotel that is just 4mins away from beppu station. Staffs are friendly. Breakfast is delicious. Room is very clean. Price is reasonable. Totally recommended.
A quiet business class hotel located just meters outside the JR Beppu station, within close walking distance of day use onsen, shopping, and dining. While it's true they are adjacent to the elevated rail, in practice this isn't really a problem for all but the most sensitive travellers because of frequency and limited use at night.
Very close to train station. They rent e-bikes for a good price. 1500 yen for 6 hours or a little more for the whole day. Was able to cycle to all the sights and tackle the hills easily.
Hotel staff very nice and english support is perfect recommend for traveller location close to beppu station around 150 meter

The room was enormous, and you could enjoy the ocean view from your room. The public bath on the 6th floor had a great view, and the 1st floor was also nice. The outdoor bath on the 1st floor had a landscaped area, was even larger, and there was also a dry steam room. The breakfast and dinner were incredibly filling, and I couldn't finish them all. The hotel is very close to the White Pond Hell, just...
Go to Beppu Station's west exit, on the left, at Station 3. Take Line 1 bus 🚌 to the last stop, Kannawa. It's a two-minute walk to Sansuikan. It's so convenient. From Sansuikan, walk left for about eight minutes to Umijigoku 😊. Umijigoku isn't big, but it has a foot bath where you can soak your feet. An hour's worth of exploration is enough. Beppu is a rural area, so don't expect great restaurants...
The rooms are very clean and a must-see for a stay with two meals. Right next to the hotel are White Pond Hell and Sea Hell, a 15-minute walk away. Blood Pond Hell and Tornado Hell are also easily accessible via bus number 16, which takes 15 minutes.
The hotel is in a great location, just across from Kannawa Station from Fukuoka Airport. While the hotel is older, the rooms are clean and the service is excellent. The public hot springs are large and private, so you can enjoy them privately. You can even watch the sunrise from your room.
Since I had to stay one night in Beppu, I had no choice but to choose a place close to Kannawa Bus Terminal.
First of all, the cons that I remember are:
✅️A room that was tricked into saying it had an ocean view
✅️A unique smell
✅️Noise between floors and hallways
✅️No place to enjoy (at night) around
The good points are:
✅The large bath on the first floor (better than the 6th floor)
️✅️A clean open...
The room is a sea view room! There is no crowd at all for the 4 of us!
The open-air hot spring is amazing! Enjoy the sea view and the breeze!
The hotel is just on the roadside, very close to Beppu Onsen!
The fried chicken nearby is super delicious! I want to eat more!

The hotel room was very spacious with a great location and sea views. There were many dining options nearby, and the service was excellent. The bathhouse was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The cleanliness was also top-notch. I had a really good night's sleep on the floor in the Japanese-style room.
Nice hotel. Although a bit old, it is very clean and well-maintained, with all the necessary facilities. The onsen was fantastic—great temperature, nice room, and very convenient to enjoy. Breakfast buffet was excellent with good amount of variation and it's warmly flavored. The sea view from breakfast venue was beautiful.
I've stayed here before, and this time I brought a friend and booked a larger room. It's a historic inn, but the building and decor don't feel old at all. The Japanese-style room has a really nice vibe, and the smell of the tatami mats is so soothing. The room itself is incredibly spacious; I honestly think three or four people could comfortably stay in that one large tatami room. On the top floor...
Front desk lady was nice and helpful, though not many staff around... the hotel was efficient. We enjoyed the bath and was lucky to have parking space right in front. Had dinner within walking distance from hotel. Sea view was bonus.
Great location, amazing view facing the harbour. The dinner and breakfast both outstanding featuring local cuisines. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again! Exceptional experience!

The Best Hotel Experience for a Solo Traveler in Beppu!
As a solo traveler who has explored Japan for years, I can confidently say that this hotel stands out as the absolute best I've experienced so far. From the unbeatable location to the superb amenities and, most importantly, the incredibly caring staff, my stay was nothing short of perfect.
📍 Unbeatable Central Location
The convenience of this...
The housekeeper at Aile hotel is very friendly... It was raining on the day I arrived... There was no parking space - he also took me to a nearby parking space - Parking... Thank you very much... There was also a thank you letter when I checked in 🙏
The hotel is in a very good location, close to the bus station, JR station and several large shopping malls. The hotel hot spring is also good, but the outdoor hot spring is not satisfactory and the facilities are very simple. The room is big enough. The only regret is the breakfast. The American set meal and a hamburger are enough to fill you up, but it doesn't feel like Japan. It's okay to eat it...
I booked a single room, but the clerk said it was full that day so I upgraded it to a double room for free. The room was a bit old, but spacious and clean without any odor.
The only drawback was that the check-in time was too late (15:00~), and even if you check in a little earlier, you still need to pay extra.
Staffs: very friendly and helpful, from different countries, English available.
Room: super big with sea view, clean, great great great
Location: YOUME shopping mall and and a department store next to the hotel, 5 mins walk to Beppu Station, bus stop to the main hot springs opposite to the hotel, great great great.

The hotel's location is a bit out of the way. The ocean view from the room was okay, I guess. You're required to take off your shoes when entering the hotel, but they don't even provide disposable slippers, so the service is pretty mediocre. While the building and rooms are recognisable a bit older it is well kept and clean.
The staff is absolutely top notch and the food was very tasty and of good quality.
This was the only place in Beppu I could find that had hot springs and let solo travelers book a room for my timeframe.
Would come again!
Also kudos for the pianist playing ghibli songs in the evening.
Nothing but good things to say about the hotel, it is one of the best stays I´ve had anywhere and a hotel with excellent value. The hotsprings were excellent with ocean and mountain views, and food was above and beyond our expectation. The hotel tatamis were comfortable and the staff were highly professional. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone coming to Buppa. I hope to return again soon!
This Japanese-style hotel offers amazing value for money, especially with its beautiful sea views. I booked the one-night, two-meal plan, and the food was incredibly generous – I even had a lot of beef leftover from dinner the second night, which was a shame! The staff were all very friendly, and the sea view was absolutely stunning.
This hotel is so different with the other resort styles I’ve ever been to.
3 reasons I recommend this hotel:

2. Roof top onsen where I experienced starry night and sunrise of this southern Japan area
3. Free music concert every night that is totally above my expectations where my family had a great time gather together and listen to the...

I Strongly Recommend Improvement, But the Food Is Wonderful
I recently stayed at Beppu Fuuga, and while there were some very disappointing aspects regarding the service and facilities, there were also some great points.

Very nice hotel. I've spent three nights here. The room was huge. The breakfast is so good, very high value. They change the main dish every day. A huge variety of food to eat. Well. You can definitely find a better place to go with way less money. Small room and dirty AC and smelly. Private bath is okay but way too small and not clean and meal is okay but could be better. I won’t recommend this place to anybody. Go to a hotel instead.
Awesome service as expected from a Japanese Ryokan.
There was a lot of food and it was delicious. The sake was great as well with a fruity flavor.
To take a shower you do need to use the familiar public onsen once available but still a great experience
The public bath for day trips is 500 yen. 11:00-16:00 Shampoo and conditioner available. Towels can be borrowed for free. A hair dryer is also provided. Family bath is 2000 yen.
The large public bath has an open air outside, but it was a little lukewarm and it would have been nice if it was a little warmer like the indoor bath. This is where it gets a little sad.
Both the dressing room and the bathroom...
Stayed one night.
The word of mouth said that only 3 out of 5 baths could be used.
When I went there, all five family baths were ready to use.

Very good onsen hotel with great food and hospitality. We have enjoyed the stay and plan to go back soon.
It's a historic hotel with a hot spring culture. Located on a mountain, it's inaccessible by public transportation; a taxi from the station costs around 100 RMB, but calling a taxi is convenient. The hotel has three private hot springs, marked with round signs outside. You can enter when you see an empty one, but there will be someone inside. Most rooms have private hot springs, and they are very nice...
The food is incredibly tasty, the service is excellent, and the rooms are spotless. There are various private hot springs available for guests. Overall, it’s a great experience.
Having family bathing facilities was a definite highlight. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. I was so glad I could enjoy such a pleasant night's stay. I'd love to come back again.
The staff were incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, proactively helping with our luggage. The hotel facilities are excellent, and the private onsens offer a high degree of privacy. Each onsen also has its own unique character and is not crowded. I highly recommend the Yakushi-no-Yu.
One area for improvement is the lack of blackout curtains in the rooms; I was woken up by the sun around 5 AM. Additionally...

I was solo traveling and don’t speak Japanese, but the staff was amazing and made everything easy for me! The dinner and breakfast were very good too and I enjoyed the private bath as well. I would definitely stay here again!
It was a very pleasant inn. The view from the entrance was great, and although I had a room facing the mountains, I could see the view from the entrance whenever I wanted. I also enjoyed the night view from the entrance while eating ice cream after taking a bath in the hot spring. The food was also very good, and I was satisfied with both the appearance and the taste.
It was fantastic and so comfortable. The only mistake I made here was not booking another night.
Definitely book the set meal that includes breakfast and dinner!! You'll be stuffed, with everything from sashimi to hot pot. The dinner drinks are also reasonably priced. I'll definitely come back 🥹 The morning bath is completely empty, a private bath experience. The hotel can arrange pick-up and drop-off at Beppu Station, which is very convenient.
A truly perfect experience, highly recommended!
Extremely high value for money!!! The dinner selection was so extensive, we couldn't possibly finish it all.
The service was also excellent!

The hotel is located on a mountain, offering stunning views. However, it would be quite inconvenient if you don't have a car. The room has its own hot spring bath and a balcony, providing a quiet and comfortable environment.
Great services, great accommodation
The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, so it's more convenient if you're driving. We booked breakfast and dinner, and the food was absolutely amazing; you definitely have to try it if you stay here. My favorite part was the private hot spring in the room. I'd come back again if I get the chance.
The location is pretty good because it’s private. It’s suit for guest comes with the car. About 15 mins drive to downtown.
The room was big with private onsen, clean and simple.
The facility is only the public onsen, which is indoor with no view. The breakfast is quite basic, the taste could be more outstanding.
I stayed here in 2024 and had a great experience! This time, however, it was a bit disappointing. The facilities are starting to show their age. The food quality is excellent (half-board with dinner and breakfast). The private onsen in the room is definitely a highlight.
Overall a great place to stay; excellent food, beautiful architecture, nice views, private onsen in room. Some suggestions on what we would have liked: more pillows, thicker towels, some welcome snacks

Good service, delicious food, convenient location
location is not ideal without personal transport, have to arrange private pick up or taxi from train station. Room has private onsen but it's not comfortable or inviting as it's a bath tub... not your typical outdoor- pool like tub , so a little disappointing.
food was well presented and tasty. Nothing to offer in the neighbourhood.... so practically, sleep, bath and depart
The hotel location is chosen to be less beautiful on the residential side, the room lighting and layout is darker and old not beautiful enough, one night two meals is very good, if you can bring your own alcoholic beverages is even better, service attitude is good but can still have greater room for improvement,
The hotel offers a shuttle service to Beppu Station, which must be booked two days in advance. Do not follow the directions to Beppu University, otherwise you'll waste an hour traveling just one stop. The hotel is located between Beppu University Station and Beppu Station. It's 3 kilometers from various hellish tourist spots and 1.6 kilometers from Kourō Onsen (Gourd Hot Spring), both within walking...
Having a private onsen in your room is awesome! But the hotel itself is in dire need of renovation. The floors in the room are scuffed. The wallpaper in the hallway is peeling. And the shower glass is caked with film. This can definitely be cleaned, but alas. Breakfast and dinner are delicious, but very long. Dinner lasts about two hours, with very long breaks between courses.
Unfortunately the room was super moldy and it was ruining the experience. We stayed there for two days. The first day, the dinner was delicious and so was the breakfast but the second day, the food was not as great and the breakfast was served as a Western style, was much less in portion compared to the first day.

Beppu, Myoban 4 Kumi 🧭 Map
I spent two nights near Beppu Station and one night at Okamotyoya Ryokan.
It is a bit of a distance from Beppu Station.
While the facilities are a bit dated, it seems to be well-maintained, and the service is even friendlier compared to the hot spring hotels near Beppu Station (which are also very friendly).
This is the perfect inn where you can fully enjoy Myoban Onsen.
It is a bit of a walk to get to the inn and the hot spring facilities, but there is a roof and the atmosphere is nice so it's not a problem.
The staff were also polite and pleasant to deal with.
The room I stayed in was probably the cheapest one, but I'm really glad I stayed at this inn.
The large public bath is open from 7am to...
The hotel took the initiative to take the luggage, communicated in English, and the food was good. The most important thing is that the hot spring ♨️ pool is large and it is convenient for self-driving and taking photos.
There is an open-air bath on the first floor and an indoor bath on the second floor, both of which were spacious and comfortable. The hotel has two private hot springs: a milky sulfur spring and a clear simple spring. The sulfur spring in particular had a pleasant hydrogen sulfide scent and was just the right temperature for relaxation.
The sulfur spring apparently has a peeling effect, gently removing...
Pretty good ryokan near Beppu where you can try onsen steamed food for dinner. The onsen is spacious and has a strong egg smell which takes a few weeks to wash out of your clothing. There are relatively few guests in the ryokan (more seem to visit for day use of the onsen). The staff are mainly from the nearby universities and can speak english well.
A traditional Japanese-style hotel. The outdoor hot spring water is milky white. The hotel is very quiet. You can get off at Alum Station, which is very close to the station. If you stay in Beppu for two nights, you can consider staying here. Breakfast and dinner are sumptuous
