Both breakfast and dinner were substantial, and a special highlight was being able to try the local specialty, 'Jigoku Mushi' (hell-steamed dishes), cooked with 98-degree hot water directly from the onsen

The twin room was 26 square meters, clean and tidy. I stayed on the 16th floor, where I could see Beppu Bay to the left and trains arriving and departing from the station to the right

Kim at the front desk was very nice and helped us with changing to non smoking room without much hassle. Deserve 5 stars

Single room typical Japanese style but a bit narrow to accommodate 24” luggage with both sides fully open

Buffet has good spread, but the meat stew serving was limited, after 8am there’s no more meat in the stew, left with the carrots, lotus roots etc. should refill as the buffet ends 930am

This traditional Japanese hotel is conveniently located a 5-6 minute walk from the JR station, and it's popular among Japanese guests. While the facilities are a bit dated, the service remains warm and friendly

There was a definite air of old seaside town about the place and it was very chill - the onsen in the hotel itself was very nice and wasn't at all busy when we were there

The room's window opens to an unobstructed view of the blue sky, and the hotel's hot spring is very comfortable. The space isn't large but it's cozy, very clean, and quiet.

The breakfast however did get quite crowded with tour groups so going down later worked the best for us - if you had to go in peak time there was often a queue

The room was compact but very comfortable and had all the things needed for a comfy stay. Staff were lovely and the japanese pj's provided we're a nice touch

Fantastic location for traveling around beppu as well as arriving from Fukuoka and leaving to Oita airport. The hotel is right next to both bus stops

Excellent value for money, convenient for transportation and shopping, and the hotel facilities and surroundings were all great. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Beppu

I liked infinity bath on the 7th floor, but due to the strong wind I could enjoy it for long time. However sunset and full moon were do beautiful and bath was comfortably hot

Very good selection for breakfast and dinner, convenient onsens, amenities of good quality and wide selection of shampoos, face cleansers, creams, etc

There are table tennis, billiard, massage chairs and gaming machines in the basement, omiyage shop. I liked choose of sizes and colors of yukatas too

The ryokan style room is very spacious with beautiful sea view. We loved the indoor & outdoor onsen. Good spread at the buffet dinner and breakfast. A very relaxing stay! There is also a DONKI nearby the hotel.

The breakfast and dinner were good, not 5*, but certainly you can find some nice food to fill you up

The staff at the entrance provided us with a parking pass and a map, but the pass didn't work when we tried to use it. We eventually circled back to the hotel's main parking area and, thankfully, found an available spot

Although the hotel is a bit old, it's clean and tidy. The complimentary afternoon tea and desserts were especially delicious. The indoor and outdoor onsens were very comfortable. Overall, I had a great experience

The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable! The bath was also spacious and filled with natural hot spring water, so I enjoyed it. The soundproofing was also solid, so I wasn't bothered by noise from next door

the central heat in the room was too much, had to open window a bit. free pudding and ice pops aren't really our cup of tea, but it was a great gesture. onsen was great experience, room is spacious for 4 of us

More than anything, there were lots of services provided, such as tea time service and pudding and alcohol service in the evening, so I was very comfortable throughout my stay!

The service was warm and attentive, and the location was convenient – less than a 10-minute walk from the station. There's also a bus stop right outside for buses to Yufuin

The free afternoon tea everyday is a big plus. It's also close to the station, walk 5-8mins only. A Lawson is within 5 mins. Hotel is classy and clean.

The breakfast selection was quite good. The only downside was that the hotel parking lot was across the street. It just so happened that it was raining heavily the day I arrived

Good location for traveling by car. Thanks to this, the view is good. I made a reservation that included children, but I almost had to pay more because it wasn't properly marked

I stayed here because I had to go to the ferry terminal early in the morning. It was very convenient, with Toyoken (a famous chicken tempura restaurant) nearby and a supermarket within walking distance

The hotel is a bit old, but the staff is friendly and the accommodation is clean. Above all, the parking lot is large and parking is free, making it a great place to travel by rental car.

The biggest miscalculation was dinner, and I heard that it comes with a seafood bowl, but within the price of about 8,000 yen (including Rakuten coupon), I was prepared for a seafood bowl alone, but I usually set meals such as toriten and chawanmushi

The bath is indoors, but it was very clean and nice. I was able to watch YouTube on the TV in the room

Great location near Station . Free hot spring really clean and safe. Near by the hotel got station market just a few minutes walk good to buy something fresh interest local food . Breakfast healthy and good quality food.

The hotel was great — we loved the onsen and the breakfast. Special shout-out to Otake for being so friendly and helpful, making our stay extra comfortable and at ease

This hotel provides all the amenities that required by guest. Bakeries served during break are freshly baked, crisp & hence delicious

Good hotel close to the railroad station. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was at the smaller side and for 2 people would be hard to move. Pillow was rock hard but they have more pillows at the reception

Washing machine is reasonable priced at 200 and dryer is free! Appreciate the amenities and service!! Slight negative is the carpark and a 3 mins walk for 1200 per night

For breakfast, we had to take a golf cart to a sister hotel next door, which was a minor inconvenience, but the food quality was still good. The only area for improvement was the hotel's pick-up and drop-off service

Unlike traditional onsen hotels, the staff didn't help us with our luggage to the car or put it in the trunk, nor did they help clean our car's rearview mirrors (I'm not sure why, but after spending a night in the outdoor parking lot, the rearview mirrors were quite dirty)

It’s a little inconvenient that breakfast was located in the sister hotel next door, but the hotel had arranged buggy for transport which the kids are happy about it

I’m glad that we chose Amane Gahama for our family vacation because it’s spacious and the private hot spring was awesome with both in and out door options

The hotel room was absolutely fantastic and very spacious. The design of the living room, bedroom, bathroom, and balcony was incredibly thoughtful

The infinity pool isn't very deep, making it suitable for children. It was still a bit chilly in March, but luckily, there's a warm pool nearby where you can soak for a while. The restaurant offers great value for money

Breakfast is also quite refined, offering both buffet and à la carte options

The outdoor onsen facility provides the beautiful ocean view. In the meanwhile, their SPA is nearly the best treatment which we have experienced. This hotel is highly recommended for the stay when you visit Beppu

Remember to exit from the West Exit (this was told to us by the hotel shuttle driver; apparently, many international guests wait for a long time at the East Exit only to find out it's the West Exit)

This is our 2nd time to stay at this hotel. ANA intercontinental Beppu maintains its quality standard. The room is clean and comfortable with good view. The restaurants offer the delicious food

Dinner was superb; we had Japanese cuisine in an elegant setting. The Japanese chef was very professional, and the dishes were outstanding. Breakfast was semi-buffet style and also delicious

The proximity to Beppu Station is a huge plus with free parking! We used self automated check in and out hence can’t really review service of the hotel; the room, while compact, was very clean and had everything we needed

Went with a friend this time. They have free hot springs/baths, and it wasn't too crowded. The best part is it's super, super cheap and the location is very convenient, easily accessible whether you have a car or not.

All front desk staff I spoke to spoke English! Check out was done easily by giving the card back to front desk and confirming room number and number of people. Didn’t state a preference so i got a smoking room

Breakfast is 6:30to 9:30 just present card key to restaurant staff. Overall, would book again for the next Beppu stay. I might even get to try the onsen next time

When i entered there was a lingering smoke smell but it was a quick fix with the air purifier available. Amenities are available by the 2 floor elevator where the reception is

Good location being right across the bus and train station. The staff are nice and accommodating. Went there earlier than check in time but I was able to leave my luggage

Having an open-air bath right in the room, where you can soak while enjoying the scenery, is incredibly relaxing. The hotel is within walking distance of several 'hell' attractions, which is super convenient

Plus, it came with its own small indoor and outdoor hot spring baths! We opted for Japanese cuisine for both breakfast and dinner, and it was absolutely fantastic—so rich, delicious, and nutritious

The location is conveniently located near to the Hell valley tourist spots. Pick up from the Beppu station was punctual and drop off after check out to station makes travel relaxing

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Beppu! The views are absolutely stunning, with rooms nestled halfway up the mountain offering panoramic sea and cityscapes

From the moment you enter, several staff members greet you, guide you to the check-in area, and then escort you to your room for a room tour

Dinner and breakfast were good; perhaps not the absolute best 'one-night, two-meals' experience I've had in Japan, but still very decent

It was a buffet feast with lots of selection, such as snow crab, Oita wagyu beef. Service at the restaurant was superb. It's next to a convenience store and there's free parking for hotel guests

The hotel has a coin laundry, which is helpful for travellers who need frequent clothes washing. It might seem a bit pricey to include dinner, but please include it

The drinks at the dinner buffet were very satisfying, the food selection was average, with snow crab available seasonally, although the steak was of slightly subpar quality

This place is between Beppu Ropeway and Hells of Beppu, so plan your route properly, if not you will end up going up and down the mountains numerous times

The hotel is in the hot spring area, a 10-minute walk to Umijigoku. There is a bus stop at the door of the hotel, and the location is convenient. The internal facilities are new and clean, and the rooms are tidy

For my one-night stay in Beppu, I chose Meimatsu Oetei. Although it's an older hotel, it's incredibly well-maintained. The Japanese-style room was advertised as 15 sq m, but it felt much more spacious in reality

While the building and rooms are recognisable a bit older it is well kept and clean. The staff is absolutely top notch and the food was very tasty and of good quality

This was the only place in Beppu I could find that had hot springs and let solo travelers book a room for my timeframe. Would come again! Also kudos for the pianist playing ghibli songs in the evening

There are public baths on both the rooftop and the 3rd floor, with separate facilities for men and women. Swimsuits are not allowed, nor are mobile phones

Nothing but good things to say about the hotel, it is one of the best stays I´ve had anywhere and a hotel with excellent value

I booked the one-night, two-meal plan, and the food was incredibly generous – I even had a lot of beef leftover from dinner the second night, which was a shame! The staff were all very friendly, and the sea view was absolutely stunning

The chef's craftsmanship and menu design made us feel that it was well worth the money spent this time! ! Although the dining space for breakfast is not large, every dish is very delicious! The room condition, kaiseki, and breakfast were all comfortable and enjoyable!! The shuttle bus seems to be assigned once an hour and I think you need to make a reservation in advance! I think it would be better if there were a little more Korean guidance!

My friends and I are very satisfied with this hotel. We were a little worried at first because the room facilities still maintain the old style (key-operated doors, traditional old-style tatami mats and paper doors)

The hotel's lobby and public spaces have all been transformed into a modern style, and not only free drinks are provided (there are even draft beers for you to drink). I personally like and recommend this hotel

Free sake is available in the lobby which is always a plus for me. The various public onsen pools looks inviting, but we didn't get to try them due to their "no tattoo" policies

Great place to take kids. You can eat in your room for dinner (delicious, btw), breakfast buffet has pancakes and other kid foods, AND they have a kids room full of toys.

I'm not sure what the reasoning was. To take a bath, I had to carry a basket out and go to the main building. The slippers provided were also very slippery. It was very inconvenient, especially in the cold weather

No on site car park and have to use a nearby car park which is 600 yen per entry. The don’t clean the room daily but can change your towel if you want

However, transportation in Miyazaki is quite inconvenient; you need to book a taxi in advance to get back to the station from the hotel, as it's hard to hail one from the street

The hotel room is a little small and bed is soft but overall still quite good for location and front desk service.

It's a bit of a walk from the station, and dragging luggage was a bit tough

When I booked, it only showed the room, not that it was in an annex building. We ended up being placed in the building next door, which had much simpler facilities and was significantly smaller

I booked the full board package. Room has ample space and a wonderful view to the sea! Dinner set was delicious. A very relaxed environment, nice getaway vacation stay.

Overall, the standard is incredibly high! It's perfect for a relaxing getaway. The public bath facing the sea 🌊 is an absolute must-try

You can give the Japanese set dinner a try; don't set your expectations for the taste too high, but the ambiance is quite nice

Breakfast was just okay, not particularly delicious, but not bad either – pretty uninspired. The only downside was the hotel's somewhat remote location

Very close to train station. They rent e-bikes for a good price. 1500 yen for 6 hours or a little more for the whole day. Was able to cycle to all the sights and tackle the hills easily.

While it's true they are adjacent to the elevated rail, in practice this isn't really a problem for all but the most sensitive travellers because of frequency and limited use at night

A business hotel that is just 4mins away from beppu station. Staffs are friendly. Breakfast is delicious. Room is very clean. Price is reasonable. Totally recommended.

This hotel is super close to Beppu Station, just a short walk away, yet surprisingly, there's no noise. The room was clean, and so was the washing machine

This hotel has such a romantic, old-style charm. The bedroom was incredibly spacious—we even managed to have a family supper for 8 people comfortably inside! The onsen is also very nice and relaxing

I had a great time because of the clean interior and comfortable bathroom. The open-air bath was especially nice and it was a good place to stay

The food was good both in the evening and in the morning, but the bathroom, toilet and washbasin were all in one place and there was a step between the bathroom and the hallway, so there is room for improvement.

I don't like this hotel in Beppu. It's too old.

We booked a room with a private hot spring bath and a two-meal plan (dinner and breakfast). Being able to enjoy the sea view while soaking in the onsen was wonderful

I chose this seaside hotel to enjoy the sunrise and sunset while soaking in the hot spring. The two meals included were decent, and the seafood was fresh. The mentaiko for breakfast was a local specialty

The room was very spacious, more than enough for two people; it actually felt a bit large for just myself. It was approximately 10 tatami mats in size (excluding the bathroom, separate toilet, entryway, and balcony)

However, as other reviews mentioned, the front desk staff are mostly older aunties and uncles, and their service attitude was just average, though it seems to be pretty standard for service staff in the Oita region

Right across the first road from the hotel entrance, there's a large shopping mall with a supermarket, Muji, Starbucks, and everything you could need. However, most seaside hotels tend to be older

This one has been renovated and feels quite new. You have to lay out your own futon on the tatami mat (mine was a mess!), so for elderly guests with mobility issues, I'd recommend a standard bed

Cons - hotel is situated about 7km from the main sightseeing area of Beppu (Kannawa). If you don’t have a car, taxi is about Y3000 each way. If you do have a car, parking around Beppu is not too hard

His attentiveness, compassion, and genuine kindness made a difficult situation much easier for me. Thanks to his understanding and caring nature, I was able to secure shelter when I truly needed it

Pros - great facilities including views, parking, good sized rooms, helpful and friendly staff, pool and onsen, ping pong room, huge buffet breakfast and dinner in a huge dining hall, kids activities, 7-11 convenience store short walk away, bath in the room
