This is such a beautiful house! Nice, clean, with so many pretty details, comfortable. The small garden is beautiful, and the bathroom is just great! We had plenty of room - the house could offer beds for 8, and we were only four people. Everything worked, and there are really good instructions for the house and many information available about the city. Only downside is the price - it's really expensive. Still, would love to stay longer next time!

We found the Machiya to be amazing. Coming from Tokyo, you will think you are in a mansion. The staff did a great job to help coordinate our stay and we would highly recommend staying here. The Machiya is a fantastic balance of modern and traditional. We love the tatami rooms as well as the western room. A perfect mix. The Machiya is a bit of a walk from the station but not bad, and you can get to the historic districts by just walking along the river one street over.

Really neat hotel! If you want to experience living in a Japanese home with a rich history this is for you. Keep in mind though that this is a Japanese home and not a hotel so be sure to read the instructions provided by the staff on the table. I didn't do this and I couldn't figure out why there was no hot water. The 1st page of the book shows you how to turn on the hot water heater! After that, all was well.
Pro's: Beautiful home and a unique experience with friendly staff! I love the heated floors!
Con's: Walls are thin and sound travels, may not be the best options for families traveling with loud children. The directions provided are outdated but still functional.

A very pleasant stay at Ginnoma! The staff were extremely helpful and arranged all our dinner reservations during the New Year holiday period. The machiya is pretty, very well maintained and provisioned. Will come back in a heartbeat!
