Spectacular Views of Mt. Myoko
First of all, the views of Mt. Myoko from the room, the large communal bath, and the open-air bath are spectacular. If the weather is good, it's an exceptional stay. The room was spacious for two people at 29 square meters, and it was clean and functional, so we were very satisfied. The only drawbacks are that, as of August 2013, there are no electric vehicle charging...
Very nice view from your room. Will come back again
Near the hotel there is a beautiful landscape, mountains and forest. Good breakfast, lots of different fruits, European and Japanese cuisine.
Amazing views and very relaxing atmosphere.
Nice Place. Peaceful. Amazing view. The light illumination here (June to November)with almost 1.5 millions lights are breathtaking.
Probably the best resort to chill in Niigata city. I loved it

First time to stay at such seasonal hotel for snowboarding with friends, facilities and hardwares are in decent quality, highly recommend the breakfast there.
Really nice hotel, nice staff, very clean and comfortable. It has coin laundry machines which comes very handy. Breakfast is good and it's on the cooked food side, not much like pastries or fruit. There's parking places available for the guests too.
Very good value for money hotel. The breakfast is good too. It's better to have a car if you stay in this hotel.
Great breakfast. Distance a bit far from Arai station. Very clean
Location is convenient and service is good

Hotel is perfect location to walk to food and the mountain. The onsen is well maintained and hardly anyone there. Breakfast is everything you could want with amazing service and smiles. However the most important part of this place is the staff… All so kind, bright and going above and beyond to help in any way. I would never stay anywhere else.
Kogakuro Onsen was one of the best hotel experiences I have had. Located close to the main street of Myoko, Kogakuro has the perfect mix of sophisticated customer-centric service and warm inviting generous cultural hospitality. Mieko and the team were wonderful and make your trip easy and very special. The rooms were spacious with delightfully simple Japanese furnishings. Breakfast was everything...
I will definately return to Kogakuro. We had a great holiday in Myoko Kogan and this accomodation had alot to do with it. The hotel is an all round balance for location, great staff culture and comfort. We took 2 rooms with our teenagers in one, at one end of the building and with us at the other end. Our rooms were comfortable, quiet, warm, clean and pleasantly extra spacious with great views and...
Outstanding memorable stay. Onsen is lovely, with delightful amenities. Open overnight, it offers a great respite soak after a long day of ski. It is within a 10min walk to the ski lifts (with 3 kids along) and <5min to main street where everything is. Pacing expectations that this is a traditional older establishment, the rooms were very warm, clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast spread was...
This might be one of my favourite hotels i've ever stayed in. Our family of four (including two adult children) spent a week here and we LOVED it. The traditional Japanese bedrooms are so comfortable with their own bathrooms, great heating, really comfortable bedding and huge window that looked right out over the Akakura ski resort. The highlight is definitely the owner/ manageress Meiko and her amazing...
Amazing staff and lovely old place with nice onsen on site. Good breakfast in the morning and right near free shuttle to kanko/onsen ski fields. Nice buffet breakfast every day and they do a great dinner too

Really clean and the service is excellent! The hotel is also very kids friendly.
Great location with superb views from the room window. The breakfast and dinner buffet spreads were excellent. Although there is no private shower in the room, the shared shower facilities were clean and well maintained.
Prime hotel that has premium facilities, rooms, onsen and service. The hotel provides shuttle to various ski resorts in the Myoko region and has a good breakfast buffet. The buffet dinner is not very good and relatively over priced for what was served.
The stay was absolutely comfortable. Good onsen and nice breakfast. Bedding was solid as well. The friendly staffs also assisted with restaurantsreservations too.
The rooms were spacious; we booked one Western-style and one Japanese-style room. The hotel's public bath was also very comfortable, and it wasn't crowded during our stay, making it a wonderful place to soak after skiing. The hotel is also not far from the ski resort, about a 10-minute drive away. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money.
Nice resort with spacious room and has basic facilities that are well maintained. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Will recommend to friends and family who wish to visit Myoko.

Excellent non-smoking room with no lingering odor, in a great location.
Great for self-drivers, it's like a service area. Convenient for both Myoko Ski Resort and Joetsu city center. It's clean, and the beds are comfortable. After skiing, you can use the large public bath. There's a convenience store downstairs and multiple restaurants.
The hotel is located right next to the Michi-no-Eki Station interchange. Nearby are Yoshinoya beef donburi, a few simple restaurants, and a Lawson convenience store. A simple buffet breakfast is provided, and there's also a public bath. The rooms are spacious, but the bathrooms are small. The windows are grimy and appear to have never been cleaned. It takes about half an hour to an hour to reach the...
Located in a service area, this is a very Japanese-style express hotel. It's clean and tidy, with great service. The breakfast is delicious and adequate. There's free coffee and wine in the afternoon and evening. There are washing machines. There are several restaurants nearby, and a Lawson is across the street, which is very convenient. Many Japanese office workers stop here on business trips.
Good onsen, great service, happy.
This hotel is located on the grounds of Roadside Station Arai on National Route 18. There is a convenience store across from the hotel, and a restaurant, seafood direct sales store, and souvenir shop are a short walk away. Breakfast is included, so you can eat dinner at the restaurant or take out sushi or seafood bowls from the direct sales store and eat them in your room. The rooms are bunk bed style...

Fantastic authentic Ryokan with lovely outdoor Onsen. Drop and collect you from any nearby ski field in Myoko. I would return here. I left my kindle behind and am struggling to get in contact to get it back please! Have tried email and phone. Please reach me on sophwestgarth@gmail.com or WhatsApp +64276880505, would really appreciate it!
Very clean. Older but charming. Exactly what I wanted. Delicious restaurant on site to use if you get snowed in or just want a fantastic meal. Onsen was also great.
Very old ryokan, even the wallpaper fell off here and there, but feels quite original and ancient, the onsen too, I wouldn’t rate it as a super good stay, but for the price, I would say it is quite worth it
Myoko Onsen, where Kofukan is located, has many abandoned hotels and buildings, and only one restaurant was open. It's easily accessible, just a ten-minute walk from Myoko Kogen Station, and the hot spring water is gentle on the skin, so I'd like to return.
Come here for the best experience. So cozy. Small mountain town. It’s not the four seasons, it’s much better. Family owned. Lowkey. Come and enjoy yourself.
Absolutely amazing stay! The onsen is incredible. The room with a mountain view was fabulous. So quiet! Incredible dining options a few blocks away. Just wow. The 4th generation owners are the kindest hosts. The free shuttles to ski and to the train station are so convenient. You are lucky to stay here.

Good place for family/leisure skiing, great dinner with hotpot. Cozy house feels like home.
The room is big enough but the bathroom is too small. Heater in room works great but all around hotel is a bit cold. Bad mobile phone and wifi network.
Good experience. Staff so good.
Far from train station. Hetel have free bus to pick up.
Ski in and out.

Soaking after skiing helps you recover your energy
The rooms are clean. Breakfast is average.
Although the hotel doesn't have an elevator, most rooms are on the second floor, which is convenient.
The hotel is located near the ski slopes, which is very convenient. Ski equipment is available for rent at the front. The rooms are large and can accommodate 4 people with the addition of a Japanese-style extra bed. Cleanliness is good, although the bathroom is small and cramped with no external mirror. Just a short walk to the ski lifts and restaurants all just down the road. This place was perfect. Multiple Onsens to relax in. Will stay again.
This hotel is quite old and outdated. It could use a facelift. I would say probably overpriced for what it is.
The rooms are also quite strange - my wife and I’s room was split into 2 across the hall way. One side the tatami / sleeping area, the other side the family room and bathroom. The location is amazing so that’s the only reason I would stay here again, but this hotel is quite old.
The hotel is very close to the ski resort, which is very convenient. Our family of four had a slightly unusual room; the bedroom and living room were separate, but to get to the living room, you had to go outside to a public area, which was a bit inconvenient because you might run into other guests. Therefore, you had to be properly dressed before going out. It felt a little awkward.
The breakfast...
Staff are very kind and helpful, super friendly, love the ppl and the vibe. Breakfast food was good, apple juice is a highlight. the 3 onsens available were nice, ppl could spread out
We stayed as a family, difficult to control the temperature in the room with the heaters being inconsistent, luckily we could move to a different room.
The drying room for gear downstairs did not have a space heater...
The hotel's outlook/renovation is to a point it felt like travel back in the early 80's or in a move set. Even all the details as big as the sofa and as detailed as the mat to put the vase in the room. So if you are looking at an old style japanese place there it is. We booked two rooms for a family of 6 and we love the space- there is a tatami room and also a living room accross which is perfect...
A much older hotel, we had go pay to upgrade our room to a bigger room as there was limited space for ski luggages.

We stayed here for 4 nights during a snowboarding trip to Myoko and had a great experience.
The resort is slightly out of the way, but the extra 15-minute drive from the Akakura Onsen area was well worth it. The surroundings were peaceful, and it felt less crowded.
Meals were generous, delicious, and always served hot. The amenities were excellent, and the ski run was well groomed and ideal for beginners...
Stayed 6 nights with a couple of friends in 3 rooms and we had an absolutely comfortable stay!
The staff were really helpful when they learnt that we were rented a 2WD and offered to shuttle us to and from Sekiyama Station on days when the weather was bad. Huge thanks to Mr Wang & Mr Noguchi for the impeccable service!
It was super convenient as a base for skiing too as the hotel provided rental...
There are ski resorts near the hotel, but they are less challenging and more suitable for families. If you want to try other ski resorts in Myoko City, you'll generally need to drive at least 20 minutes. The hotel is located far from the city center, so driving is the only recommended option.
The hotel rooms are of moderate size and have all the basic amenities. The hotel staff are friendly.
Love the place as it’s a cozy hotel. Simple slope for beginners skier is good. Food not bad. Though more ala carte food would be nice as hungry after skiing. Rooms have great view and simple
Good service for the price. Dinner is ordinary, perhaps needs to improve quality rather than quantity. Breakfast was good.
Spacious and well equipped and decorated room with mountain view. Dinner and breakfast are value for money. Mr Wang of the restaurant from China is friendly and helpful.

Nice location very near to Onsen street, convenient to restaurants and everything
The hotel has Onsen, a very good facility. The hotel is very close to the Akakura Onsen Ski Area and within walking distance, only 8 minutes walk
This traditional Japanese onsen hotel is perfectly located an 8 min walk to the closest ski lift & right by the main street. Breakfast had both Japanese & Westrn options. The pancakes were delicious! Mizuki at the front desk of hotel Taiko went above & beyond to ensure that we were happy throughout our stay. Every interaction with her was warm and welcoming. We were always greeted with a smile....
Hotel in a small village you can't ask for too much dude
The exterior looks old and dull, but the interior is in good condition, and the lobby is spacious and bright, with a panoramic view of Mt. Madarao. The room was a modern Japanese-style room with 10 tatami mats, but there were chairs by the window that could seat four people, so the two of us could have a relaxing time. The hot springs are spacious and have a great view. Dinner was kaiseki style and...

Kaz and his wife are amazing hosts. Everything was excellent!! Going back next jan without a doubt.
Fantastic place, they looked after us very well and location was great — ski in and ski out.
This has been an amazing experience. The host picked us up from the station to bring us to the beautiful villa. It is a family run lodge and you are treated like family your whole stay. They helped with recommendations, lift passes, meals and lifts into town even know it only a short walk. We couldn't find a lift to our next destination when we were checking out and our host help arrange a transfer...
If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is the place to be. This lodge has been in operations for over 40 years. Kaz and Moko, the hosts, are amazing. They're very kind, helpful and hospitable. They make us feel at home. Their Nepalese staff, Kaji, has conquered the Everest 4 times enchanted us with amazing stories of the Everest. Food is delicious, (especially the Japanese curry...
Amazing place to stay in Myoko. Kazu and the team are so accomodating and a joy to be around. Lovely food and on an unbelievable spot. I would give 6 stars if possible

Very convenient from Tokyo station!! (Tokyo to Nagano station via Shinkansen > Nagano station to Myoko kogen via local train).
