Great location to get right onto the slopes and ski back at the end of the day. Staff were friendly and they hired English speaking people which is useful for non Japanese speakers, but they seemed a bit disorganised and there was some miscommunication which caused a few problems. I also think it was a little expensive seeing as they will squeeze up to 5 futons in a room I would say is suitable for 2 or 3 at most and there is no bathroom in the rooms (just a toilet), but I guess you're paying for the location. The onsen is free, but very small and not particularly nice inside.

We have just spent 9 nights at the Akakura Central and enjoyed every minute of it. It is a bit dated and could do with a little refurbishment but all the staff were so friendy and helpful that we would be back in a flash if we could. Hayden Eden and Fred spoke both English and Japanese and really made us feel welcome and helped us understand the Japeneese culture. Lovely breakfast was served every morning and we really enjoyed the special dinner that was included. Great access to both the snow and a variety of local restaurants. Thanks for having us.

Just a short walk to the ski lifts and restaurants all just down the road. This place was perfect. Multiple Onsens to relax in. Will stay again.

This hotel is quite old and outdated. It could use a facelift. I would say probably overpriced for what it is.
The rooms are also quite strange - my wife and I’s room was split into 2 across the hall way. One side the tatami / sleeping area, the other side the family room and bathroom. The location is amazing so that’s the only reason I would stay here again, but this hotel is quite old.

The hotel is very close to the ski resort, which is very convenient. Our family of four had a slightly unusual room; the bedroom and living room were separate, but to get to the living room, you had to go outside to a public area, which was a bit inconvenient because you might run into other guests. Therefore, you had to be properly dressed before going out. It felt a little awkward.

The breakfast food was acceptable; the variety was usually consistent, but you definitely needed to eat enough before skiing.

There are three hot springs, but the largest one is usually not open to hotel guests at midday, perhaps it's rented out to guests outside the hotel. However, this doesn't seem to affect skiers much, as they usually go skiing around midday.

Staff are very kind and helpful, super friendly, love the ppl and the vibe. Breakfast food was good, apple juice is a highlight. the 3 onsens available were nice, ppl could spread out

We stayed as a family, difficult to control the temperature in the room with the heaters being inconsistent, luckily we could move to a different room.
The drying room for gear downstairs did not have a space heater to dry up the gear, that would have made organising your gear a lot easier

The hotel's outlook/renovation is to a point it felt like travel back in the early 80's or in a move set. Even all the details as big as the sofa and as detailed as the mat to put the vase in the room. So if you are looking at an old style japanese place there it is. We booked two rooms for a family of 6 and we love the space-  there is a tatami room and also a living room accross which is perfect to handle skiing items. There are 3 onsens and we tried all. One is big and the other two is small (if you prefer some privacy). Breakfast is nice. If you a looking at a tranditional japanese experience - this is the place. It's a small walking distance (less than 5 mins) to the ski lift at the Akakura Onsen ski area.

A much older hotel, we had go pay to upgrade our room to a bigger room as there was limited space for ski luggages.

The waiters are very enthusiastic and the hot spring is great

Great location in the middle of town. Faculties are quite old though. Our area of the hotel had an issue with the boiler so not hot water in our room. Does have a very cool onsen that’s outdoors.
