Chubu region, Myoko, 1966 Ryozenji, 944-0062 Myoko, Prefektura Niigata, Yaponiya 🧭 Map
Great location, I stayed at the Arai section, next to the Onsen, convenient. The hotel has a buffet breakfast and 5 restaurants to choose from. If you get the package deal then all of the breakfast and dinners are covered. The mountain is serviced but a single main gondola with quad chairs that take you in different directions. Casts amount of off piste areas but the piste is a little less. Stayed...
The resort is amazing. Facilities are great and clean. We will be coming back .
值得5星滑雪度假村的评级…Ski in & out Highly recommend live in Lodge building: old money style, very comfortable
Great location for skiing. It’s a short walk from the ski room to the gondola.  We enjoyed the restaurants and onsen.  This is a quiet place.  We had a fantastic week of skiing with fresh snow on five consecutive days. Nearly all of the terrain is off-piste so good snow is needed to access most runs.
Very good ski resort. Check-in after 3 PM, check-out before 11 AM.
The facilities are excellent, but the dryer is too old. It costs a lot and takes a long time to dry clothes. I'd recommend not doing laundry here. Some staff members are poorly trained and can't answer basic questions. Even when I just tried to book the shuttle bus, they gave me a lot of conflicting information, showing a lack of communication. I borrowed a locker for my ski gear, but the next day...

Spectacular Views of Mt. Myoko First of all, the views of Mt. Myoko from the room, the large communal bath, and the open-air bath are spectacular. If the weather is good, it's an exceptional stay. The room was spacious for two people at 29 square meters, and it was clean and functional, so we were very satisfied. The only drawbacks are that, as of August 2013, there are no electric vehicle charging...
Very nice view from your room. Will come back again
Near the hotel there is a beautiful landscape, mountains and forest. Good breakfast, lots of different fruits, European and Japanese cuisine.
Amazing views and very relaxing atmosphere.
Nice Place. Peaceful. Amazing view. The light illumination here (June to November)with almost 1.5 millions lights are breathtaking.
Probably the best resort to chill in Niigata city. I loved it

Excellent non-smoking room with no lingering odor, in a great location.
Great for self-drivers, it's like a service area. Convenient for both Myoko Ski Resort and Joetsu city center. It's clean, and the beds are comfortable. After skiing, you can use the large public bath. There's a convenience store downstairs and multiple restaurants.
The hotel is located right next to the Michi-no-Eki Station interchange. Nearby are Yoshinoya beef donburi, a few simple restaurants, and a Lawson convenience store. A simple buffet breakfast is provided, and there's also a public bath. The rooms are spacious, but the bathrooms are small. The windows are grimy and appear to have never been cleaned. It takes about half an hour to an hour to reach the...
Located in a service area, this is a very Japanese-style express hotel. It's clean and tidy, with great service. The breakfast is delicious and adequate. There's free coffee and wine in the afternoon and evening. There are washing machines. There are several restaurants nearby, and a Lawson is across the street, which is very convenient. Many Japanese office workers stop here on business trips.
Good onsen, great service, happy.
This hotel is located on the grounds of Roadside Station Arai on National Route 18. There is a convenience store across from the hotel, and a restaurant, seafood direct sales store, and souvenir shop are a short walk away. Breakfast is included, so you can eat dinner at the restaurant or take out sushi or seafood bowls from the direct sales store and eat them in your room. The rooms are bunk bed style...

First time to stay at such seasonal hotel for snowboarding with friends, facilities and hardwares are in decent quality, highly recommend the breakfast there.
Really nice hotel, nice staff, very clean and comfortable. It has coin laundry machines which comes very handy. Breakfast is good and it's on the cooked food side, not much like pastries or fruit. There's parking places available for the guests too.
Very good value for money hotel. The breakfast is good too. It's better to have a car if you stay in this hotel.

Nice location very near to Onsen street, convenient to restaurants and everything
The hotel has Onsen, a very good facility. The hotel is very close to the Akakura Onsen Ski Area and within walking distance, only 8 minutes walk
This traditional Japanese onsen hotel is perfectly located an 8 min walk to the closest ski lift & right by the main street. Breakfast had both Japanese & Westrn options. The pancakes were delicious! Mizuki at the front desk of hotel Taiko went above & beyond to ensure that we were happy throughout our stay.  Every interaction with her was warm and welcoming. We were always greeted with a smile....
Hotel in a small village you can't ask for too much dude
The exterior looks old and dull, but the interior is in good condition, and the lobby is spacious and bright, with a panoramic view of Mt. Madarao. The room was a modern Japanese-style room with 10 tatami mats, but there were chairs by the window that could seat four people, so the two of us could have a relaxing time. Really clean and the service is excellent! The hotel is also very kids friendly.
Great location with superb views from the room window. The breakfast and dinner buffet spreads were excellent. Although there is no private shower in the room, the shared shower facilities were clean and well maintained.
Prime hotel that has premium facilities, rooms, onsen and service. The hotel provides shuttle to various ski resorts in the Myoko region and has a good breakfast buffet. The buffet dinner is not very good and relatively over priced for what was served.
The stay was absolutely comfortable. Good onsen and nice breakfast. Bedding was solid as well. The friendly staffs also assisted with restaurantsreservations too.
The rooms were spacious; we booked one Western-style and one Japanese-style room. The hotel's public bath was also very comfortable, and it wasn't crowded during our stay, making it a wonderful place to soak after skiing. The hotel is also not far from the ski resort, about a 10-minute drive away. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money.
Nice resort with spacious room and has basic facilities that are well maintained. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Will recommend to friends and family who wish to visit Myoko.

Lunch in the restaurant was nice but nothing to rave about the food for the price, wine was very expensive and not great. Our massage after made up for everything thing though as it was amazing.
This was my second time staying at this hotel. Last time I only stayed one day, this time I stayed two. September is off-season, and booking two days in advance was RMB 500 more expensive than booking separately. This hotel is very weather-sensitive; I recommend canceling if it's cloudy or rainy for several days in a row. On my first day, visibility was very low due to heavy rain, and the fog outside...
This is my favorite hotel, and I think my July stay was my 10th. Because it's far from Tokyo, I usually stay here once or twice a year, but this year I stayed back in June and July. It takes over five hours by car, but when I arrived and took in the views from the lobby, my room, the Aqua Terrace, and the open-air bath, I thought, "Akakura Kanko Hotel is truly amazing." I ate Japanese food at Aqua...
The hotel was clean, and although many of the staff were trainees, they were relatively friendly and I thought it was worth the price. Here are a few things that bothered me: The breakfast buffet at Shirakaba had a variety of options, but none of them were particularly tasty. The French toast, which used to be made to order, was now pre-made, which I didn't feel like eating. This was my first time...
The prices are high, but you always know that it's well worth it. The best is the main building, which gives you a sense of the weight of history. The unobtrusive, unassuming renovation has made it even more comfortable. Dinner at the French restaurant Sorbier is always so appealing that I'm interested. Even if I stay multiple nights, I always end up ordering it here. I'm not sure why the popular consomm...
This hotel was a nice surprise! A warm atmosphere and a great welcome at reception. All the staff are very helpful and kind... Discreet and efficient! 3 different restaurants to vary the menus, the one in the new part is just magnificent with the view of the valley and the water basin all around. There are ski resorts near the hotel, but they are less challenging and more suitable for families. If you want to try other ski resorts in Myoko City, you'll generally need to drive at least 20 minutes. The hotel is located far from the city center, so driving is the only recommended option. The hotel rooms are of moderate size and have all the basic amenities. The hotel staff are friendly.
Spacious and well equipped and decorated room with mountain view. Dinner and breakfast are value for money. Mr Wang of the restaurant from China is friendly and helpful. Stayed the next day when there was more than 70 cm of snow in 24 hours. I was worried about the road because it was 2WD instead of 4WD, but there was no problem at all because the snow was well removed up to the nearest Sekiyama station. However, because the road in front of Kyukamura Myoko is off the main road, snow removal is inadequate, and 2DW is quite difficult due to the uphill slope. In particular...
I had a day trip bath plus lunch and spent time renting a room. The room is checked in at 10:00 and checked out at 17:00, so you can enjoy your meal and bath slowly. Just a short walk to the ski lifts and restaurants all just down the road. This place was perfect. Multiple Onsens to relax in. Will stay again.
This hotel is quite old and outdated. It could use a facelift. I would say probably overpriced for what it is. The rooms are also quite strange - my wife and I’s room was split into 2 across the hall way. One side the tatami / sleeping area, the other side the family room and bathroom. The location is amazing so that’s the only reason I would stay here again, but this hotel is quite old.
The hotel is very close to the ski resort, which is very convenient. Our family of four had a slightly unusual room; the bedroom and living room were separate, but to get to the living room, you had to go outside to a public area, which was a bit inconvenient because you might run into other guests. Therefore, you had to be properly dressed before going out. It felt a little awkward. The breakfast...
Staff are very kind and helpful, super friendly, love the ppl and the vibe. Breakfast food was good, apple juice is a highlight. the 3 onsens available were nice, ppl could spread out We stayed as a family, difficult to control the temperature in the room with the heaters being inconsistent, luckily we could move to a different room. The drying room for gear downstairs did not have a space heater...
The hotel's outlook/renovation is to a point it felt like travel back in the early 80's or in a move set. Even all the details as big as the sofa and as detailed as the mat to put the vase in the room. So if you are looking at an old style japanese place there it is. We booked two rooms for a family of 6 and we love the space-  there is a tatami room and also a living room accross which is perfect...
A much older hotel, we had go pay to upgrade our room to a bigger room as there was limited space for ski luggages.

The Wakui family have a long legacy in the area and it's a pleasure to stay at their hotel when visiting this wonderful area. A stones throw from the ticket booth and quad chair.
Akakura Wakui Hotel is in a great location, close to the Akakura Onsen Kumado ticket office and Kumado #1 quad lift, as well as the main hub of town with a convenience store, a variety of eateries, and ski hire shops. We loved our spacious corner, slope side, quiet, traditional tatami suite with futons for three people and a lovely view. The buffet breakfasts were enjoyable and set us up well for...
Great location, right next to Akakura Onsen ski lift. Older family-run hotel with traditional rooms over several storeys & tradition onsen. If you have mobility issues, request to stay level 1 & 2, rather than level 3 & 4 which has rooms in another building. Staff very helpful. They offer train station pick up and drop off. Boot and ski room is downstairs. Recommended. Will return.
They have a great room and onsen. Call and they come to pick you up at the station. The owner speaks English and extremely polite. The onsen located at B1 has rich sulfate and bicarbonate. They may smell unpleasant and make floor turn black, which people may misunderstand that onsen is unclean. But every onsen in this region has that distinct smell so it is very natural. In fact they clean onsen...

Mont Cervin is a cosy and friendly lodge run by a lovely couple, Shung and Takako. It was a privilege to get to stay here again after first stay 7 years ago. We appreciated the fact that we are dropped off and picked up at the nearby ski areas, and we enjoyed Takako’s home cooking more than the food joints in the Akakura onsen town area. The room is cosy and the heater makes it warm. Lovely memories
Mont Cervin was a highlight of our stay in Japan. We came to Myoko to ski and this was a perfect family run Japanese accommodation. The home cooking was great and the shuttle service to the resorts and buses was super convenient. It was great to socialize with other travellers in the lounge as well. We will be back for sure!
Mont Cervin up the goods This place was perfect for traveling on a budget. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate all their guests. I will definitely come again. Be sure to get their breakfast in the morning!!! They may not be next door to an onsen, but their tub is a good second runner up for a tired person at the end of a long day of snow play.
I enjoyed my peaceful stay at Mont Cervin The location is convenient to Akakura Onsen ski resort with shuttle/pick up provided daily. Even if you need to walk, it takes about 15 minutes max for Akakura Onsen. The homecooked meal offered is also very delicious.
A small hotel in a ski resort🏡The owner and his wife are very friendly👫The attic room was prepared for the three of us (can sleep 4 people in the upper room), and the breakfast and dinner were carefully prepared👍The boss drove us to visit nearby attractions the next day😎Thank you
The place is run by a lovely couple that have enough English speaking skills that it is not a big issue if you don't speak any Japanese. The pension is clean and has a cosy vibe. The owners were absolutely brilliant they were accommodating to our needs, so helpful, transported us every day to our selected ski resort, picked us up then took us every evening into town for dinner. Having the onsen in the inn was a pleasure especially after a day of skiing. Would not hesitate to stay here again, our favorite accommodation so far!!!
We had half board for 4 days. Breakfast was bread, eggs and bacon. Dinner was really amazing. 7 course meal.
The accommodation is clean and tidy, with amenities including a drying room, a shared hot spring bath, laundry facilities, a beverage vending machine, and a free tea area. Shuttle service is also available to Akakura Hot Springs and Akakura Sightseeing Ski Resort. The meals were delicious and generous in size.

We stayed in Star Hotel Akakura in December and had a very comfortable stay there. It may not look impressive as it’s not a new hotel but the room is so spacious for two and has the classic Japanese table warmer. We had a great stay at this hotel! There was a massive storm and we were stuck at a further train station, and the owner was able to pick up our large group and drive us to the hotel. The hotel was clean and quiet, and the location was close to the ski resort and to everything in town. I would happily stay again!
We came in February to go skiing. There was a ton of snow so the local train couldn’t go to Myoko and we got stuck at the stop before. The owner was so incredibly nice and came to pick us up in a van with an extra truck for our luggage. The rooms were clean and the heaters are so nice. The bathrooms were also very clean and the toilets were wonderful. The hotel gave us a discount for lift tickets....
Only the couple managing the property, doing all rooms and check in and dining. So be patient. Even they might not know much English they still provide great service and try to accommodate your needs. Nice restaurants and convenient store around though most close early. I left my kindle behind and am struggling to get in contact to get it back please! Have tried email and phone. Please reach me on sophwestgarth@gmail.com or WhatsApp +64276880505, would really appreciate it!
Very clean. Older but charming. Exactly what I wanted. Delicious restaurant on site to use if you get snowed in or just want a fantastic meal. Onsen was also great.
Very old ryokan, even the wallpaper fell off here and there, but feels quite original and ancient, the onsen too, I wouldn’t rate it as a super good stay, but for the price, I would say it is quite worth it
Myoko Onsen, where Kofukan is located, has many abandoned hotels and buildings, and only one restaurant was open. It's easily accessible, just a ten-minute walk from Myoko Kogen Station, and the hot spring water is gentle on the skin, so I'd like to return.
Come here for the best experience. So cozy. Small mountain town. It’s not the four seasons, it’s much better. Family owned. Lowkey. Come and enjoy yourself.
Absolutely amazing stay! The onsen is incredible. The room with a mountain view was fabulous. So quiet! Incredible dining options a few blocks away. Just wow. I used it on a dog and snowboard trip. The car was parked not in front of the hotel, but on the premises of Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, and the parking fee was 1000 yen per night. The dinners were epic - so many different dishes to try and incredibly crafted and presented. The breakfast was so huge that we didn’t even need lunch. We looked forward to “coming home” after a days skiing. The hosts took great care of us. I will definitely come...
朝食も夕食もおいしかった!特に夕食は、急にお願いしたのにとても親切に対応していただけました。ボリューミーでとても満足でした! また、スキーについて便利な情報も教えてくださり、気持ちの良い旅が出来ました!

At Hotel Mumon everything is well arranged. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast and comfy beds. The onsen was also great after a day on the slopes (or just in general!). Location also perfect close to the town restaurants & slopes.
Such a sweet place to stay, very old school decor and super cosy. Very close to restaurants and cafes, a couple of ski fields are only 10 mins away. Staff are lovely and super helpful.
Located about a 10-minute walk from Akakura Onsen Ski Resort, the inn is small but beautiful. The lobby on the first floor has a retro feel that blends Japanese and European styles. I regret not having dinner there this time. The staff were very friendly, and the room was quite large for one person. Although it had a vintage feel, it was clean overall. We happened to be there during a heavy snowfall...
Stayed 7 nights, amazing staff so friendly and helpful, good food (breakfast and dinner), bar, communal area. Walking distance to Akakura Onsen and Kanko ski resorts.
One of the best gelande hotels I've ever stayed in. The share space with a real fireplace ambiance is just perfect. The smell of the wood is so cozy and luxury at the same time. We stayed in the cheapest rooms, which were very usual. Unfortunately the heating wasn't turned on by the time of arrival, so it was pretty cold. Some of the rooms also didn't have windows. But there was hot water and tea ...
Good value for money, but a little basic

Kaz and his wife are amazing hosts. Everything was excellent!! Going back next jan without a doubt.
Fantastic place, they looked after us very well and location was great — ski in and ski out.
This has been an amazing experience. The host picked us up from the station to bring us to the beautiful villa. It is a family run lodge and you are treated like family your whole stay. They helped with recommendations, lift passes, meals and lifts into town even know it only a short walk. We couldn't find a lift to our next destination when we were checking out and our host help arrange a transfer...
If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is the place to be. This lodge has been in operations for over 40 years. Kaz and Moko, the hosts, are amazing. They're very kind, helpful and hospitable. They make us feel at home. Their Nepalese staff, Kaji, has conquered the Everest 4 times enchanted us with amazing stories of the Everest. Food is delicious, (especially the Japanese curry...
Amazing place to stay in Myoko. Kazu and the team are so accomodating and a joy to be around. Lovely food and on an unbelievable spot. I would give 6 stars if possible
...I debated writing a review in case I am not able to easily make reservations here in the future. Very convenient from Tokyo station!! (Tokyo to Nagano station via Shinkansen > Nagano station to Myoko kogen via local train). The family-run accommodation is on Akakura Kanko slopes, easy to stop by for a rest anytime. Coffee, lunch or dinner (dinners need to be reserved by AM as owner will go out...
