Hotel Taiko in Myoko

Nice location very near to Onsen street, convenient to restaurants and everything

The hotel has Onsen, a very good facility. The hotel is very close to the Akakura Onsen Ski Area and within walking distance, only 8 minutes walk

This traditional Japanese onsen hotel is perfectly located an 8 min walk to the closest ski lift & right by the main street. Breakfast had both Japanese & Westrn options. The pancakes were delicious! Mizuki at the front desk of hotel Taiko went above & beyond to ensure that we were happy throughout our stay.  Every interaction with her was warm and welcoming. We were always greeted with a smile. She helped with our check-in, coordinated our transfer to the train station, helped with dinner reservations, lift ticlets & gave lots of great recommendations.  Her recommendation to enjoy the hotel onsen was greatly appreciated after a long day of travel. We visited the onsen after every day of skiing as well! Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, but Mizuki stood out in her customer service abilities. She should be the customer service manager. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return & spend more time at this lovely establishment that is staffed by incredible people.  Thank you very much for all your help, Mizuki & the team at Hotel Taiko D'Artagnan Heath & Ching Lin

The exterior looks old and dull, but the interior is in good condition, and the lobby is spacious and bright, with a panoramic view of Mt. Madarao. The room was a modern Japanese-style room with 10 tatami mats, but there were chairs by the window that could seat four people, so the two of us could have a relaxing time. The hot springs are spacious and have a great view. Dinner was kaiseki style and delicious. Myoko Kogen is completely empty after the May holidays, but when you walk around the plateau, you can see snow-capped Mt. Myoko and admire skunk cabbage, and the soba restaurant "Basho" at Ikenodaira Newt Pond is delicious, and there is a visitor center next door. It's also nice to relax and enjoy coffee.

This time I stayed for three nights. The hotel is a bit old, but the staff are nice and it is quite convenient.

Extremely friendly staff
My wife and I enjoyed our 3-night stay at hotel Taiko. The hotel employees were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is only a short walk to the kumado ski base. The hotel pickup drop off service was great. We gave the hotel our train’s arrival time and the driver met us with a van when the train arrived! No waiting in the cold! We liked how our hotel room was extremely clean. The included breakfast buffet was excellent too. Almost all the hotel staff we spoke to could also speak English. Would definitely recommend Hotel Taiko.

THE HOTEL WAS VERY NICE AND CLEAN. IT WAS ALSO QUITE HANDY TO RESTAURANTS, SKI FIELDS AND ENTERTAINMENT. STAFF WERE PLESENT AND VERY HELPFUL. THE HOTEL IS A LITTLE OLDER NOW.
THE MAIN ATTRACTION IS THE ONSEND.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Taiko. It is conveniently located near the ski lifts and the main st. The staff are welcoming, and always helpful. Our suite (Room 7/11) was huge for two people and the views were breathtaking. The buffet breakfast offered a great variety of Japanese and Western food.

We thought the room was lovely and well sized for Japan.

Staff were very friendly and rooms kept very clean.

We enjoyed using the onsen, known as one of the best in the areas.

We were also very happy with the selection at breakfast each day.

We also enjoyed the bar downstairs and the drinks and small bites they had to offer.

We would definitely stay here again next time.
