Lotte Arai Resort, Myoko1 / 30
8.5
Chubu region, Myoko, 1966 Ryozenji 🧭 Map
Beautiful facility, amazing staff, comfortable rooms, delicious food, and lasting memories! enjoyed my stay. I recommend trying the zip line! The shuttle from the train station was easy to find and very convenient
Great location, I stayed at the Arai section, next to the Onsen, convenient. The hotel has a buffet breakfast and 5 restaurants to choose from
If you get the package deal then all of the breakfast and dinners are covered. The mountain is serviced but a single main gondola with quad chairs that take you in different directions
It’s a short walk from the ski room to the gondola.   We enjoyed the restaurants and onsen.   We had a fantastic week of skiing with fresh snow on five consecutive days
Came here in mid-July during the State of Emergency. The whole resort was empty so it was great to not have to deal with crowds and could easily keep distance from others
Casts amount of off piste areas but the piste is a little less. Stayed for 4 night, great little starting point before heading over to Myoko

Very nice view from your room. Will come back again
Amazing views and very relaxing atmosphere.
Nice hotel right on the golf course. Good facilities to entertain a family with putter golf, disc golf, play area, cycle rental, and rental golf carts to just drive around the grounds
The only drawbacks are that, as of August 2013, there are no electric vehicle charging stations, and the dinner and breakfast buffets are expensive if requested on the day
Myoko First of all, the views of Mt. Myoko from the room, the large communal bath, and the open-air bath are spectacular. If the weather is good, it's an exceptional stay
It's also quite far from the city center, about a 20-minute drive, so once you've arrived, it's probably difficult to go back into the city for a meal

Chubu region, Myoko, Tagiri 216, 949-2102 Myoko, Prefektura Niigata, Yaponiya 🧭 Map
Aqua Dining is located in the Premium Building, with windows on three sides, offering a fantastic view. The food, both the white corn and scallop appetizer and the wagyu steak main course, exceeded my expectations
Kaiseki is fine, and the quality is excellent, suitable for Chinese palates. The special kaiseki I chose for an additional fee the next day was terrible, with a heavy sugary sauce that made it unpleasant
The room also had a slight odor due to the high humidity, which exposed the room's shortcomings without the beautiful view. The air conditioner was too loud, and the toilet was difficult to flush
The buffet has a wide variety of dishes and good taste, while the set menu is average, but the view is beautiful. I booked a room with breakfast and dinner included. Dinner was served at Shirakaba
It takes over five hours by car, but when I arrived and took in the views from the lobby, my room, the Aqua Terrace, and the open-air bath, I thought, "Akakura Kanko Hotel is truly amazing
This is my favorite hotel, and I think my July stay was my 10th. Because it's far from Tokyo, I usually stay here once or twice a year, but this year I stayed back in June and July

We were always greeted with a smile. She helped with our check-in, coordinated our transfer to the train station, helped with dinner reservations, lift ticlets & gave lots of great recommendations
We visited the onsen after every day of skiing as well! Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, but Mizuki stood out in her customer service abilities. She should be the customer service manager
The pancakes were delicious! Mizuki at the front desk of hotel Taiko went above & beyond to ensure that we were happy throughout our stay.   Every interaction with her was warm and welcoming
This traditional Japanese onsen hotel is perfectly located an 8 min walk to the closest ski lift & right by the main street. Breakfast had both Japanese & Westrn options
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return & spend more time at this lovely establishment that is staffed by incredible people
Thank you very much for all your help, Mizuki & the team at Hotel Taiko D'Artagnan Heath & Ching Lin

Prime hotel that has premium facilities, rooms, onsen and service. The hotel provides shuttle to various ski resorts in the Myoko region and has a good breakfast buffet
The stay was absolutely comfortable. Good onsen and nice breakfast. Bedding was solid as well. The friendly staffs also assisted with restaurantsreservations too.
The hotel is also not far from the ski resort, about a 10-minute drive away. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money
The buffet dinner is not very good and relatively over priced for what was served
Nice resort with spacious room and has basic facilities that are well maintained. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Will recommend to friends and family who wish to visit Myoko.
We stayed in a large "family room" which contained it's own bathroom and toilet which provided extra convenience for those with kids, but we also used the on-site onsen which had multiple hot pools and cold tubs, including a small outdoor spot

I knew I wanted to snowboard at Lotte Arai Resort but I read that it was in a very small town and basically only the resort buildings so i picked this spot because they offered a free shuttle to the nearby mountains
(Not Lotte though its a 40 minute drive and I had to get a separate bus. It was very easy though and the owner was able to help me figure it all out. If you do that route bring cash, it costs 2,000 jpy one way)
Absolutely amazing stay! The onsen is incredible. The room with a mountain view was fabulous. So quiet! Incredible dining options a few blocks away. The 4th generation owners are the kindest hosts
I didn't mind not being near a lot of food because you can buy breakfast and dinner at the property plus there was a cute local grocery store across the street I was able to try new snacks and yummy fruits at
Very clean. Older but charming. Exactly what I wanted. Delicious restaurant on site to use if you get snowed in or just want a fantastic meal. Onsen was also great.
Come here for the best experience. So cozy. Small mountain town. It’s not the four seasons, it’s much better. Family owned. Lowkey. Come and enjoy yourself.

Akakura Hotel, Myoko1 / 10

Chubu region, Myoko, 486 Akakura, 949-2111 Myoko, Prefektura Niigata, Yaponiya 🧭 Map
Our family of four had a slightly unusual room; the bedroom and living room were separate, but to get to the living room, you had to go outside to a public area, which was a bit inconvenient because you might run into other guests
Therefore, you had to be properly dressed before going out. The breakfast food was acceptable; the variety was usually consistent, but you definitely needed to eat enough before skiing
There are three hot springs, but the largest one is usually not open to hotel guests at midday, perhaps it's rented out to guests outside the hotel
Staff are very kind and helpful, super friendly, love the ppl and the vibe. Breakfast food was good, apple juice is a highlight
the 3 onsens available were nice, ppl could spread out We stayed as a family, difficult to control the temperature in the room with the heaters being inconsistent, luckily we could move to a different room
Just a short walk to the ski lifts and restaurants all just down the road. This place was perfect. Multiple Onsens to relax in. Will stay again.

Akakura Wakui Hotel, Myoko1 / 21

Chubu region, Myoko, 28 Akakura 🧭 Map
We loved our spacious corner, slope side, quiet, traditional tatami suite with futons for three people and a lovely view. The buffet breakfasts were enjoyable and set us up well for the day
In fact they clean onsen at 7am to 2 pm and you cant use onsen on that time period. The room we were in were in the corner of the building and it was a bit cold even when we turn the heater to max
The Wakui family have a long legacy in the area and it's a pleasure to stay at their hotel when visiting this wonderful area. A stones throw from the ticket booth and quad chair.
Akakura Wakui Hotel is in a great location, close to the Akakura Onsen Kumado ticket office and Kumado #1 quad lift, as well as the main hub of town with a convenience store, a variety of eateries, and ski hire shops
They have a great room and onsen. Call and they come to pick you up at the station. The owner speaks English and extremely polite. The onsen located at B1 has rich sulfate and bicarbonate
Wifi is consistently strongest in the ground floor where the communal lounge area as well as the dining room are located. Vending machines and coin operated laundry available onsite too

Myoko is also famous for its tomatoes, and the tomatoes I bought directly from Sekiyama were delicious! It is said that the produce in the Daidohara area will be shipped after they are fully ripe
Since I stayed indoors the whole time, the forest bath was relaxing both physically and mentally. The lunch box is delicious again, is it pickled taro stems or roasted chestnuts? I was impressed and ate
The hotel is located far from the city center, so driving is the only recommended option. The hotel rooms are of moderate size and have all the basic amenities
Spacious and well equipped and decorated room with mountain view. Dinner and breakfast are value for money. Mr Wang of the restaurant from China is friendly and helpful
If you are going by 2WD, we recommend checking the road in front of you with a live camera in Niigata, and if you can see the snow, park your car at the nearest Sekiyama station and have them pick you up
Local specialties and seasonings are used for the meals, and leaflets introducing each ingredients are also placed on the table, so you can enjoy your meal while reading while eating

Just spent 5 nights at Yours Inn and all I can say it was a great experience, such a friendly lovely family looking after us , so clean and tidy , comfortable beds and great food , make sure you try dinner there as well
The accommodation was great value in a fantastic lication. The staff were friendly a d the breakfast was superb. A real homely feel.
The owners were absolutely brilliant they were accommodating to our needs, so helpful, transported us every day to our selected ski resort, picked us up then took us every evening into town for dinner
Akakura Yours inn was amazing. Everything about our stay here was absolutely wonderful. The location, the onsite onsen, the food, having shuttle to the mountain -- it all made our trip perfect.
Very good. Service, friendliness, good breakfast, excellent 5-course dinner. An onsen bath after a day of skiing is really nice. The best destination during our trip to Japan.
The accommodation is clean and tidy, with amenities including a drying room, a shared hot spring bath, laundry facilities, a beverage vending machine, and a free tea area

Very much like how a thoughtful and loving grandparent would during stayovers. Dinner with reservations was a delightful and amazing spread. Home brewed plum wine is a must! This winter was cold and blizzardy
Hotel is perfect location to walk to food and the mountain. The onsen is well maintained and hardly anyone there. Breakfast is everything you could want with amazing service and smiles
The best was the fluffy thick pancakes with the lightest of whipped cream - get in early for them! And at the end of the day - the hot mineral spring Onsen
I will definately return to Kogakuro. We had a great holiday in Myoko Kogan and this accomodation had alot to do with it. The hotel is an all round balance for location, great staff culture and comfort
Mieko and the team were wonderful and make your trip easy and very special. The rooms were spacious with delightfully simple Japanese furnishings
Super relaxing while the minerals work their magic on muscles and joints. Not to mention the added bonus of soft skin after

A small hotel in a ski resort🏡The owner and his wife are very friendly👫The attic room was prepared for the three of us (can sleep 4 people in the upper room), and the breakfast and dinner were carefully prepared👍The boss drove us to visit nearby attractions the next day😎Thank you
Takako (the mother and boss) was so kind and sweet. Her meals were delicious, and I would highly recommend having her dinner at least once while you stay. It is clear that Shuni and Takako pocess the hospitality spirit
The owners are such kind and hospitable people. It felt as if we were treated like family. Shuni (the father) was amazing. He drove us to and from the ski resorts every day for no charge through the heavy snow
I enjoyed my peaceful stay at Mont Cervin The location is convenient to Akakura Onsen ski resort with shuttle/pick up provided daily. Even if you need to walk, it takes about 15 minutes max for Akakura Onsen
We appreciated the fact that we are dropped off and picked up at the nearby ski areas, and we enjoyed Takako’s home cooking more than the food joints in the Akakura onsen town area
Be sure to get their breakfast in the morning!!! They may not be next door to an onsen, but their tub is a good second runner up for a tired person at the end of a long day of snow play

The room had plenty of space and overall I can't think of anything that was missing or bad specially considering the prices. Its also close to one of the lifts although its a 10 minute walk to town
If you're here to ski/ snowboard - this place is a solid choice. Super laid back, big common area, dry room, spacious rooms, heaters to dry socks and gloves etc
in your room, onsen bath (4-10pm) as well as private showers in your room, breakfast/ dinner aswell as water refill/ hot water stations. They also got me a shuttle back to Myoko-Kogen station in short notice
Be careful when snow is piled up because it is a little slope. The dining room on the first floor has delicious food. Complete dinner and breakfast
What an amazing place this is! Had a great stay at Hotel Moc, the staff were fabulous and helped us at every opportunity. Definitely stay here if you intend on visiting Akakura Kanko. Thanks Hotel Moc!
It was a hotel where you can relax with peace of mind, with disinfectants installed everywhere in the middle of the severe situation of the corona sickness. Now I got a mask case with a trendy pattern

Chubu region, Myoko, Taguchi 1556-79 🧭 Map
The food was delicious and plentiful, the owners were very kind, and there was plenty of space for children to play, so it exceeded all expectations in terms of the services you'd expect from a guesthouse
I preferred the homemade dishes to hotel buffets and was very satisfied. The portions were too big for the children, and it was very helpful that they packed up the leftover bread from breakfast when we were traveling
❤️ The meals are set courses, and even include meat and fish! The Niigata rice served in a rice cooker is also delicious. 🥹 I was drinking beer so I couldn't eat much, lol
The wife's cooking is also fantastic! I can't wait to try the freshly baked bread and dishes made with seasonal vegetables again. Please take care of yourself and continue running this wonderful pension forever
The owner and his wife were very hospitable. The food was so good we couldn't finish it. We also made a wreath, which was very satisfying.
This pension is run by a married couple. It's not the most tidy or beautiful, but it's a very warm and inviting place that makes you feel like you're back home, like a child

The staff was very kind and helped me several times. I learned a lot about ski resorts and recommended restaurants. It feels like a bath, there is a dry room, and the breakfast is delicious, so I 100% recommend it
I visited from England for a week of snowboarding. the staff were super kind, room comfy and lots of useful amenities like dry room for snowboard,24hr ofuro-bath
This hotel was 10 minute driving distance to the closest ski mountain and a 10 minute drive to the town centre where there were lots of bars and restaurants
My favourite part about this pension was the onsen that was free to use. It was boiling hot and so good for the body after a big day on the mountain skiing
Most local services only deal in cash so make sure to bring cash or use atm at 7 eleven/bank in town (book a taxi as it's too far to walk) 100% recommend
The food is delicious, and the owner is knowledgeable about wild birds and plants, so he can teach you a lot.
