Good quiet corner of Takayama, but still close enough to necessities such as drug store, supermarkets and convenience stores and just a short distance away to attractions in Takayama makes this quaint and charming traditional ryokan a recommended stay here in Takayama

Lovely onsen, with a sauna and an outdoor garden bath. Very friendly and dedicated staff, with limited English but no communication difficulties. It's a bit far from the action in Takayama old town, but there are some superb restaurants nearby.

They upgraded us from the cheapest to the most expensive, was my favorite place to stay/visit. Also offered to drive us to the bus on departure. Such kind staff 10/10!

A traditional, old-fashioned hotel, but very well maintained, with lovely outdoor baths. We were there during the autumn festival, and the hotel offered a free shuttle service to and from the festival. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I recommend it.

The hotel is located quite far from the city center, a 15-20 minute walk from the station. A free shuttle service is available upon request by calling reception. Excellent stay. It was our first time using an Onsen and we had a good time using the baths after a long day. The room is clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and kind and gave us a ride to the station after we checked out. The location is close to the main sites. Would highly recommended this hotel.

The rooms are large, clean, and free of musty odors. The view from the room is beautiful, overlooking the mountains. The bed is very comfortable, with firm pillows. There's both heating and air conditioning. The onsen is good, both private and communal. The breakfast set is filling and delicious. There's parking available. I felt so privileged to have been able to stay at Sumiyoshi guest house. Staying here is a totally wonderful experience you will savour forever. Amazing in every way. So accommodating for vegetarian food. The beautiful staff and owners will make you feel humble.

I visited with my family. The owner was very kind and we had a comfortable stay. There was a separate bathroom, but it wasn't too inconvenient. However, the shower facilities were shared, so it was a little inconvenient. It would be better if the shared bathroom could be reserved by the hour.

Such a cool and unique experience! The place is run by such a nice older couple, and you really feel you’re experiencing true Japanese culture. Food was amazing, the rooms were so cool, and the hospitality was second to none. Definitely will stand out as a highlight of our trip!

Central location and walking distance to shops, restaurants and places of interest. Traditional bedroom with tatami mat floors and a zen garden in the middle. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. The accommodation has an onsen, but no food is sold, so it's recommended to buy food from outside. I think the service mind needs a bit of improvement. My first impression upon checking in was that the owner looked grumpy and didn't smile, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.

There is no shower facilities in the open onsen, need to take shower at the indoor onsen which is at the lower floor. The open onsen is at the second floor.

Unlike luxury inns, the food is simple and you can enjoy the countryside. I'm not dissatisfied with the room and the bath, but the toilet seat is cold, so I think it's better to change to a washlet. Winter is hard.

Absolutely perfect stay. It was clean, quiet, and had everything one could need. And the beds! I haven't slept that well in ages! The front desk staff were also kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

It’s my second K’s hotel. The first was in Kanazawa and now in Takayama. They are the best by all levels. From reasonable price cleaning service staff - everything just perfect 👌🏽 I do recommend the K’s chain hotels in Japan.

The room was incredibly spacious and clean. I especially loved the kitchen, perfect for cooking the Hida beef I bought from the butcher – amazing value for money! Plus, having a washer and dryer was a huge convenience. It's also super close to both the Nohi Bus Center and Takayama Station, which was really handy.
