Hotel was thoughtful by sending where to take shuttle bus from station before time. Food was delicious. View from room is spectacular. Pools and sauna was great with cold weather & winter views!

Although the hotel is a bit old, it's well-maintained and the service is very friendly. The cleanliness is good too. The only downside is the lack of power outlets, which was a bit inconvenient. The view from the window was great, and the hot springs, which I enjoyed for two nights, were also very nice. The milk was delicious!

Love the Japanese style room although everything is low to the ground and requires a lot of bending. Bed is absent during the day…

The hotel offers a shuttle service, which was great. We arrived early and were able to check in ahead of time. It was incredibly relaxing to soak in the hot spring while enjoying the snowy views. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was quite abundant.

The onsen (hot spring) experience was fantastic, especially the one on the 5th floor. They rotate the men's and women's baths, and the views are absolutely stunning.

This hotel is a 10-minute walk from the west exit of Takayama Station. If you have luggage, you can take the hotel's shuttle bus, which is very convenient for both trains and the Nohi bus. We visited the Shinhotaka Ropeway and Shirakawa-go, and it was great to return to the hotel and relax in the hot springs. Compared to the onsen hotels in Gero, this hotel is more modern, and the breakfast is better...

The standard room wasn't too small, and the quality of this hot spring hotel is indeed excellent. There are two good restaurants downstairs. The hot spring water quality is also superb. I'll definitely recommend it to my friends next time.

I booked the Takayama Green Hotel, and for a standard price, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a hot spring hotel! I could enjoy a very relaxing soak. The hotel service was also excellent, and they even gave us discount coupons for the neighboring product hall.

Very good onsen hotel, with 2 type of onsen available in the hotel , the basement onsen is more luxury and modern where the ground floor one is more vintage and old school. Easy access to shirakawa & shinhotaka ropeway.

Very satisfied with our stay! The room was quite spacious, and the hot spring was very comfortable and not too crowded. The only downside is that the hotel is a bit far from the train station. It was quite tiring walking with luggage. I later found out they might have a free shuttle service, but no one at the hotel mentioned it proactively.

The rooms are quite spacious, and the hot springs are very comfortable, with one on the 9th floor and one on B1. The open-air jacuzzi on the rooftop is incredibly relaxing, especially soaking in it during winter – it's fantastic! The service is also excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit.

The location is good and sightseeing is within walking distance. The hotel is old but clean, and there are two large public baths, including the rooftop tub bath, which was very pleasant. I took advantage of the breakfast buffet, which had a wide variety of food and was all delicious. The service was also very polite. Thank you very much.

Excellent location with lots of good restaurants around. Booked the Japanese & Western style room with private bath. Having a living room with tatami matts & sitting furniture was a nice touch. What a huge and beautiful hotel! The rooms are spacious and fully equipped. The onsen (hot spring) includes a Japanese-style bath, an open-air bath, and an additional tub-style onsen level. Luxury Experience at this hotel, the amenities are simply wonderful

The hotel is conveniently located right across the street from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Terminal. After checking out, I was able to store my luggage, which was really helpful since my bus wasn't until almost noon.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. It was a wonderful stay in this Modern but yet a little traditional hotel. It is not fully a Ryokan but yet the whole hotel is on Tatami from lift lobby right to your room. Onsen was good as there are private and public pools available. Not forgetting serving free Ramen for supper is definitely a plus point especially in winter.

The surrounding area is lovely, and it's just a short walk to the attractions. Getting to Takayama Station was also super convenient.

Alright place, can only praise the free parking and probably the "cheapest" in this touristy area. Otherwise the onsen is pretty dirty (mouldy) and no free breakfast.

I stayed for a night. The hot spring and breakfast were my highlights during the stay. The room door doesn't lock automatically so I had to lock it up with a key by myself. It was a bit of a hassle but overall good.

This time we are traveling by car, so it is very convenient to stay in the mountains. The hotel provides free parking spaces and a large parking lot, so there is no need to worry about not having parking spaces. The hotel hot spring is not big, but few people use it.

Was nice and the bath was súper good. Also the place has it’s own free onsen and only 3 minutes from the hotel there is a onsen with 16+ different pools. I would recommend to get the reservation for the dinner since there are just a few options in the town.

The hotel is far from central area of Takayama. If you are going for ski it’s good to stay there. No restaurants around. Staffs were so good. And rooms are also clean. We stayed here for one night to experience a Japanese Ryokan and to make use of the onsen. This is a small, family-run Ryokan. On arrival, you are given a kimono and slippers to wear, as no shoes are allowed inside. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We had a traditional Japanese dinner here which consisted of several courses and we came away full! The onsen was very relaxing and I had it to myself...

We had the best stay at Royokan Asunaro. Very comfortable room and beds. The staff is sublime, the Japanese style breakfast I would come back for it was so good. Location is perfect for exploring Takayama and other areas nearby.

We had a wonderful stay at Ryokan Asunaro. The onsen was relaxing, the traditional tatami rooms were beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. I had a medical emergency and had to go to the hospital one evening so we were not able to make it back in time for the curfew (11pm), but they kept the doors open for us. Very very warm and friendly staffs!! Definitely one of the cleanest and best maintained hotel I have visited, and worths a second visit next time. Just a 10 mins short walk and you can reach all popular attractions in Takayama including the Old Street.

We went as a group and we loved the ryokan. It was very spacious, everything was very clean, and it was conveniently located near the bus station, the train station, and the city center where most of the shopping takes place. The rooms were the most spacious we stayed in throughout Japan, and the staff were all very kind. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights at Ryokan Tanabe as part of a 2 week tour of Japan. The Ryokan is a 90 year old traditional Japanese inn. A very comfortable hotel, it is about a 10-minute walk to the old JR station, Takayama Old Street and Miyagawa Morning Market. I was very happy to be able to see the taro flowers in Miyagawa in late April.

Stayed in this hotel for two nights. The room was comfortable. Although the breakfast set is good, the croissant is delicious 😋 The dinners were good for both nights, but the hot springs were a bit small. I couldn't see the surrounding environment because it snowed heavily during the two days I stayed there. There is only a thick layer of snow around.

Room is a bit dirty and rundown

The hotel is decent, but the room is a bit cramped for three adults. There's no room for luggage. The shared bathroom has a hot tub. The shared kitchen has everything you need: a kettle, tea, a microwave, and a refrigerator.

This is a semi traditional hotel. I loved the location and the ladies at the front desk were very welcoming. The shower room is in an onsen. You can shower there but also enjoy the onsen if you'd like.

This might be the first time I've stayed at a hotel that blends Japanese and Western styles so perfectly. The room wasn't small, and the size of the beds, the space between them, and the bedding all offered a high degree of comfort and convenience. I specifically came to see the Takayama Festival this time, and coincidentally, there were several floats parked right outside the hotel entrance for everyone...

They have a pub with live music in the evening, which is a nice touch. The rooms are pretty standard but have a certain quality to them. I'd recommend it for travelers who have specific expectations for their accommodation.
