The room was very clean and tidy. All the staff was polite and very helpful. Good location, near to the station. The buffet breakfast was delicious with great variety. Will come again.

The rooms are quite spacious, and the hot springs are very comfortable, with one on the 9th floor and one on B1. The open-air jacuzzi on the rooftop is incredibly relaxing, especially soaking in it during winter – it's fantastic! The service is also excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit.

The location is good and sightseeing is within walking distance. The hotel is old but clean, and there are two large public baths, including the rooftop tub bath, which was very pleasant. What a huge and beautiful hotel! The rooms are spacious and fully equipped. The onsen (hot spring) includes a Japanese-style bath, an open-air bath, and an additional tub-style onsen level. A decent hotel in Takayama. It's suitable for a one-night stopover. Parking is a bit expensive, but you can use the nearby public parking lot. Plenty of food and shopping options around. Cleanliness is okay.

Quite okay for all aspects. What stands out is they’re giving so many free things. Massage chairs in the lobby, happy hour (drink) in the evening, free curry rice for dinner, and amenities are very complete.

The hotel is in a convenient location and offers great facilities, including coin laundry, a coffee machine, a public bath, and even massage chairs for relaxation. While most staff members were not particularly friendly, there was one young gentleman who stood out for his warm and helpful attitude.

The room was a bit small, suitable for one person. It's very close to Takayama Station, and there's a McDonald's not far downstairs. Overall, it was decent, but perhaps due to the peak season for hiking in Kamikochi, the price was quite high, so the value for money wasn't great.

The best onsen ryokan I’ve ever been to. If I could gatekeep this place, I would! Love every part of it, so zen so clean and quiet. The food is amazing especially the beef. Alright place, can only praise the free parking and probably the "cheapest" in this touristy area. Otherwise the onsen is pretty dirty (mouldy) and no free breakfast.

I stayed for a night. The hot spring and breakfast were my highlights during the stay. The room door doesn't lock automatically so I had to lock it up with a key by myself. It was a bit of a hassle but overall good.

This time we are traveling by car, so it is very convenient to stay in the mountains. The hotel provides free parking spaces and a large parking lot, so there is no need to worry about not having parking spaces. The hotel hot spring is not big, but few people use it.

There is a shuttle bus from the west exit of Takayama Station to the hotel, which takes 7-10 minutes. It is very convenient. The hotel hot spring is great.

The location is at the top of a mountain, suitable for self-driving travelers, but there are many tour groups, and there are no restaurant options nearby. The room has a beautiful view and is comfortable, but do not choose the smoking floor. It is extremely smelly.

The hotel is very close to the station. The room is spacious. There is a convenience store near the hotel, and many restaurants around the area. It is also close to tourist attractions in the city, making it extremely convenient for transportation. The bathroom uses a two-pipe system, so you need to mix the hot and cold water yourself when using the tap.

The location is excellent, just a few steps from the station, making it perfect for a layover. However, this place doesn't have a large public bath, only a sauna and jacuzzi, so it might not be ideal if you're looking for a soak. On a side note, I highly recommend a tempura restaurant in Takayama that I really love!

The room was much more spacious than I expected, with plenty of space to open two large suitcases. The hygiene was excellent, and they even provided pajamas. The lobby offered complimentary disposable toothbrushes and other amenities for guests to take. The location was also great, just a few minutes' walk from the JR station and the Nohi bus stop. Luggage storage was available.

The location is excellent—only a 160-meter walk from Takayama Station. There are delicious yakiniku restaurants nearby. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and assistance. There is also a hot bath and a mist sauna on the second floor, which is perfect for relaxing after a long day.

I booked this for my friends primarily because of its proximity to Takayama Station, the availability of smoking rooms, and the reasonable price.

Excellent! Very thoughtful, the room was large, comfortable, and clean. They proactively arranged pick-up and drop-off for both nights, taking us to the area near the station and old town. I was surprised that breakfast and dinner were different on both nights. The stairs next to the entrance lead down to the old town, and they even had ropes to help you down to prevent falls – so considerate!

Never had so satisfying hotel stay for business or holiday. This hotel want to make you don't even go out from hotel, just enjoy the calm and, silent private onsen in room plus the carefully curated breakfast and dinner Kaiseki type experiences.

Disappointingly, no improvement was seen, particularly the quality of food presumably to be of high quality for luxurious rooms with private onsen. The room was spacious and had a jacuzzi, which was a big plus. The staff were excellent and very attentive. Both breakfast and dinner were great, with a nice sense of occasion. The food tasted pretty good too. Definitely worth a visit!

The hotel is located in the Takayama area and is a standard Japanese hotel. , The hotel has a batch of koi fish, which are amazingly expensive. [Kaisaki dinner] with Hida beef shabu-shabu is of high standard, a standard Kyoto cuisine, with high-quality ingredients, delicious taste, and exquisite utensils. If you're a light sleeper, this isn't for you. Walls between rooms are thin with no sound proof, so you can hear all the doors, voices and steps. May not be suitable for people with back pains. There's also a curfew at might, I'm guessing for security. Worth noting for foreign travelers. It is a pretty old place like others mention. But I think it adds character. However, it does need some maintenance...

Very good location. Near to Takayama Station. However, bad experience with the tatami bed bug bites. The low table with heated blanket had bad smell. Suggest hotel to do a better clean for these items in the room.

It’s a very nice place, 3mins walk from Nohi bus station. Very aesthetic Japanese layout, each room are themed with different Japanese cultures. The staffs are also very friendly and helpful and can’t complaint about the level of service.

The Wi-Fi was terrible; there was none in the room initially. They fixed it later, and I got two bars of signal, but it was still poor. There's no hot spring here; what they call a hot spring is just tap water. The bedding was awful; I got bitten all over and felt very itchy, and the duvet cover kept coming off the comforter. This price is just not worth it; my child's skin was red and itchy from bites

We stayed here for one night to experience a Japanese Ryokan and to make use of the onsen. This is a small, family-run Ryokan. On arrival, you are given a kimono and slippers to wear, as no shoes are allowed inside. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We had a traditional Japanese dinner here which consisted of several courses and we came away full! The onsen was very relaxing and I had it to myself...

We had a wonderful stay at Ryokan Asunaro. The onsen was relaxing, the traditional tatami rooms were beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. I had a medical emergency and had to go to the hospital one evening so we were not able to make it back in time for the curfew (11pm), but they kept the doors open for us. Very very warm and friendly staffs!! Definitely one of the cleanest and best maintained hotel I have visited, and worths a second visit next time. Just a 10 mins short walk and you can reach all popular attractions in Takayama including the Old Street.

We went as a group and we loved the ryokan. It was very spacious, everything was very clean, and it was conveniently located near the bus station, the train station, and the city center where most of the shopping takes place. The rooms were the most spacious we stayed in throughout Japan, and the staff were all very kind. I would definitely stay here again.

Whilst we are glad we stayed here for the laughs and stories we will dine out on, it missed the bar by a big way as a Westerner it wasn’t designed for us. We did embrace the meal the first night. The food was not to our taste. Other places we felt comfortable eating Japanese food but not for us here. I have no other ryokan onsen places to compare this to, but this place was simply outstanding. Only 15 rooms. Ours had our own private onsen on the porch with continuously flowing hot spring water; had no need to use the larger communal hotel onsens. We had a wonderful rest and relaxation after our walk in Kamikochi. Our skin felt like velvet after the baths. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were delicious. We tried the local Hida beef and hoba miso, delicious! The blankets were so fluffy, like a cloud!

It takes about 18 minutes to drive from Shinhotaka Ropeway to the B&B. The service was considerate and I felt like a VIP throughout the whole process. Super nice classic hotel in one of the main parks from Takayama. There are several hiking routes next to the hotel, and they offer public and private baths, as well as breakfast and dinner. Would stay again without a doubt!

Loved the whole experience! We had breakfast and dinner with the booking which were delicious traditional foods we typically don’t see anywhere else. The location also had private and public onsens as part of their amenities. Make sure to make a call to the staff so they can pick you up from the bus station!

The location and environment are excellent, the hygiene is good, the breakfast and dinner are plentiful, there is ample parking, the staff are friendly, it's a great hotel, the rooms are comfortable, and check-in is quick.

The only good thing about this place is its excellent location, right next to the ropeway station and convenient for bus travel. The natural scenery is decent, but for a hot spring town, it's quite ordinary. Had a wonderful stay! Even though the room was a bit old-fashioned, it was still very comfortable overall. The location was convenient, and the hot springs were fantastic.

Location is great for traveling Shinhotaka Ropeway

Surprisingly it was very good...varieties of food for dinner and breakfast.clean place.free ticket and lunch to Shinhotaka ropeway.i will definitely come back back again..small issue is that the reception difficulty understanding english other thant everything good.

Great location. Right nest to Ropeway station so you can easily take the nohi bus directly from Takayama to the hotel. Hotel is quite old but well maintained don’t forget to book the dinner if you arrive late cause there’s no other restaurant nearby. The onsen will give you great experience with indoor and outdoor pools. We had great time there 👍👍
