Hilton Takayama Resort, Takayama1 / 11

Takayama, 1134 Echigo-cho (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Stayed at a resort hotel with excellent value for money! Even though it's located in the mountains, there's a shuttle bus every hour from the alpine station that doesn't require a reservation (and also departs from the hotel)
The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection of both Japanese and Western dishes. The rooms are spacious, though a little dated. The onsen (hot spring) experience was fantastic, especially the one on the 5th floor
The hotel offers a shuttle service, which was great. We arrived early and were able to check in ahead of time. It was incredibly relaxing to soak in the hot spring while enjoying the snowy views
The service was excellent, and the breakfast was quite abundant
And I must mention the huge open-air hot spring! Although it was a bit cold outside in winter, soaking in the warm hot spring while enjoying the snowy scenery was quite an experience
The window view is stunning, offering a beautiful sight of the snow-capped mountains. There are many outdoor hot spring pools, about six or seven, and they are wonderfully relaxing

Views from this hotel of mountains are beautiful. If you need cash in Japan, you must got to the post office. Stayed in Japanese style room, would recommend the experience. They do have Western style rooms
This hotel is a 10-minute walk from the west exit of Takayama Station. If you have luggage, you can take the hotel's shuttle bus, which is very convenient for both trains and the Nohi bus
The hotel service was also excellent, and they even gave us discount coupons for the neighboring product hall
Very good onsen hotel, with 2 type of onsen available in the hotel , the basement onsen is more luxury and modern where the ground floor one is more vintage and old school. Easy access to shirakawa & shinhotaka ropeway.
western restauarant, Chinese restaurant, buffet breakfast are good
We visited the Shinhotaka Ropeway and Shirakawa-go, and it was great to return to the hotel and relax in the hot springs. Compared to the onsen hotels in Gero, this hotel is more modern, and the breakfast is better

Excellent location with lots of good restaurants around. Booked the Japanese & Western style room with private bath. Having a living room with tatami matts & sitting furniture was a nice touch
The open-air jacuzzi on the rooftop is incredibly relaxing, especially soaking in it during winter – it's fantastic! The service is also excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit
The location is good and sightseeing is within walking distance. The hotel is old but clean, and there are two large public baths, including the rooftop tub bath, which was very pleasant
The room was very clean and tidy. All the staff was polite and very helpful. Good location, near to the station. The buffet breakfast was delicious with great variety. Will come again.
The rooms are quite spacious, and the hot springs are very comfortable, with one on the 9th floor and one on B1
The bath is excellent with proper dressing room. Will definitely recommend this hotel and looking forward to my next visit!

That's it! It's 12m sq but super cheap so if u want a clean space to sleep in between your touring and keen to save cash, then this place is for you. We would stay here again for the price and location
My fam members n i felt very grateful with the location of the hotel n just opposite the JR Takayama station
Location is good, just opposiite JR Takayama & Nohi bus centre. The hotel is pretty old, still using key to access the room
They have heater inside, clean toilet, and clean towels and beds. The room smell bad because the room that i got is a smooking room, but it didn't affect my satisfactions
You're required to leave your key at the reception whenever you leave the room and need to collect it when you're back. No coffee provided in the room
Bus station is just nearby to bring us to Shingawago. Breakfast is excellent, will choose this hotel if we come back

Close to the Takayama station, clean, abundant breakfast and beautiful onsen. Loved the tatami mats in the entire hotel and the shoes off policy. The onsen is the best part! Would return to this hotel.
Great location, within walking distance to many restaurants. They have their own paid parking, which is convenient for those traveling by car
The hotel is conveniently located at a crossroads, making it easy to get around. It's only a 5-minute walk to the bus station. They offer a hot spring bath, free ice cream, and complimentary ramen.
The hot spring views must be beautiful during the day, and the facilities are very complete
Nice small onsen hotel. Suggest to also include cold beverages at the lobby, instead of just hot ones.
enjoyed our stay in takayama ouan with my family! the rooms are spacious for japan standards and i like how the hotel is full tatami so we can comfortably walk around barefoot or with just socks! free socks provided and unlimited pillows

The onsen was also nice and clean. They even provide complimentary popsicles after the onsen — my kids loved them. The staff were very polite and helpful. Overall, good value for money
Beyond being a bit of a walk from the bus station, everything else was excellent! It's clean and tidy, and the hot springs are wonderfully relaxing. The triple room is perfect for families with kids! Highly recommended.
Nice hotel with onsen facilities. Can access by foot to the main attractions althoyught is not right in the center. Room size is good and comfortable.
The room was clean, and everything felt so miniature and cute. The price was decent for a single room. I went to the open-air private bath, which was very relaxing~ They even had ice cream! The staff were very friendly
Free parking — the car park is right in front of the hotel’s main entrance, very convenient for drivers. The three‑bed room was enough for our family (2 adults, a 12‑year‑old, a 9‑year‑old, and a 5‑year‑old)
The quality of the hotel is very high. It's conveniently located near the train station and a 15 minute walk to the old town. The spa is really nice, clean, and spacious. The family spa is a nice touch

The room is good and clean just right for a solo traveler. The bed is okay (some might find it kind of hard), the only thing that bothered me is the pillow, it’s hard so it is difficult to sleep
This Hotel is located just opposite of the Takayama JR Train Station it’s very good location to travel around thec city of Takayama and close to convenience store FamilyMart
The location is very convenient just right in front of the train and bus station. There’s a large public bath on the 2nd floor, the amenities are all good and you can also borrow a hair straightener while staying
This time i have a good experience here in Takayama and I’m recommend to stay here
The single room was a bit too small for three people, so two rooms were just right. The hotel thoughtfully arranged two adjacent rooms at the end of the hallway, which was convenient for us to visit each other
There's a bathtub, and it wasn't crowded, which was very relaxing. I wasn't really used to the breakfast; it was a Japanese-style breakfast with rice, which I found a bit unfamiliar

Was an enjoyable stay and Takayama is a quiet city to stay in and good stopover location to travel out to nearby attractions
The hotel is at the another side of train station , around 15mins walk to the main shopping street , unexpectedly there is hot stone bath available in the hotel, got free massage chair for to use, room is clean , staffs are friendly
Hotel is far from train station 700-800 meter. Breakfast is good food.
Near Takayama station , Clean room and good service.
The semi-double room was slightly small, it was hard to walk in the room with our luggages laid out. The bed was clean and comfortable. The toilet was also clean and has hot water
The hotel was excellent, truly wonderful. The room size was decent, and the breakfast was quite good. Everything was great.

I stayed for a night. The hot spring and breakfast were my highlights during the stay. The room door doesn't lock automatically so I had to lock it up with a key by myself. It was a bit of a hassle but overall good.
Very good service. Thank you for the Shuttle Bus. Best regards Viktor Travel. Norbert
Its a small hotel located with a distance from the city. It's a good choice for those who want a quite environment. Free hot spring pool until 2am. The only problem is the last shuttle back to hotel depart 19:30
This time we are traveling by car, so it is very convenient to stay in the mountains. The hotel provides free parking spaces and a large parking lot, so there is no need to worry about not having parking spaces
There is a shuttle bus from the west exit of Takayama Station to the hotel, which takes 7-10 minutes. It is very convenient. The hotel hot spring is great.
Room is clean and spacious. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is delicious. Handy shuttle bus between hotel and Takayama station.

Takayama, 5-41 Nada-machi (in the centre) 🧭 Map
This is the best value hotel I've ever stayed at. It's less than a 10-minute walk from the JR station – just turn right, walk straight, cross the street at the traffic light, and keep going straight
Excellent service. Staff were friendly and helpful. Short walk to the train station. Enjoyed their onsen.
It was a good and uncomplicated stay
There was a wardrobe and pajamas, which you could use for hot springs. The room was very clean, and toiletries like toothbrushes could be picked up in the lobby, where you could also choose your preferred pillow
The room was actually warm enough even without the heater on; I turned it on the first night and woke up feeling too hot, so I didn't use it on subsequent nights. Breakfast was surprisingly varied and delicious
If you're visiting in winter, I highly recommend this place – Shirakawa-go (Gassho-zukuri village) in the snow is absolutely beautiful. All in all, this is the most cost-effective hotel I've ever experienced

The room was spacious and had a jacuzzi, which was a big plus. The staff were excellent and very attentive. Both breakfast and dinner were great, with a nice sense of occasion. The food tasted pretty good too
This is a wonderful inn with good food, excellent hospitality and a perfect location for exploring the city
Great location but everything was very dated, the TV, western sofa set, even the car that drove us to the train station. We stayed in a room with an indoor onset which we enjoyed. The kaiseki and breakfast was very good.
The best Japanese hotel I've ever stayed in. The young waitress who checked us in was incredibly patient, taking a lot of time to explain everything and provide information in Chinese
The best ryokan experience I’ve ever had. The service was truly top-end, with warm, attentive, and professional staff who made the stay feel special from start to finish
All in all, it truly lives up to its reputation as the best hotel in Takayama

The futon matresses (make sure you use 2) were very comfortable and the simplicity of the room was very characterful. However access to comfy chairs would be appreciated. We loved the meals in the private dining room
Wow, Hidatei Hanougi may have been our best stay in over a month traveling Japan, and we've been to some nice places. Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for
Charming ryokan in north Takayama a good walk from the old town area. Our room had a private courtyard with onsen - great for relaxing at the end of a day of exploring. Several restaurants - we ate breakfast there
Our first dinner was kaiseki and second shobu-shobu. We tried both Japanese and Western breakfast, so my advice is to choose Japanese, as it was great, but Western just good
That’s ok if it’s your first night, but frankly, I am Sick of raw fish. The ryokan was pretty well located relative to other activities. Transportation access was good
There were four of us and we enjoyed the dinners and the breakfast. The food is very creative and beautifully presented. A lot of care and love goes into it. What we missed was a place to have pre dinner drinks

The room was quite small but all the amenities is good. there's onsen (which i didnt explore) but you can basically monitor everything from the tv, to check if the laundry is currently used or if the onsen is crowded
The hotel overall is really good, with a very 'Japanese' feel. It's perfect for travelers who have a car. The only slight drawback is that the room is a bit small 😃
The hotel is good, but it might be a bit far from the city center, so having a car is a must. The service is great, and there's free parking
The hotel is far from central area of Takayama. If you are going for ski it’s good to stay there. If you ignore the location rests are good. You can have the welcome drink from 5 pm to 7pm
It would be good if we can have it while checking in. We can have complementary ramen or like
Location is not close to train station buy they have shuttle which goes from and to hotel quite often. There’s one family mart across the hotel which is quite helpful because there’s no other restaurant nearby!

Excellent! Very thoughtful, the room was large, comfortable, and clean. They proactively arranged pick-up and drop-off for both nights, taking us to the area near the station and old town
Excellent everything, from the food to the facilities, had a great time there. There are multilingual staff members so language barrier is not an issue at all.
Best Experience and nice place to relax!
I was surprised that breakfast and dinner were different on both nights. The stairs next to the entrance lead down to the old town, and they even had ropes to help you down to prevent falls – so considerate!
The food was great and quite varied, and the wagyu beef was delicious. The private onsen was excellent.
This hotel want to make you don't even go out from hotel, just enjoy the calm and, silent private onsen in room plus the carefully curated breakfast and dinner Kaiseki type experiences

Very nice traditional riokan near the downtown of Takayama. Rooms are big and the kaiseki dinner is good. Staff is very kind and friendly and speaks some English. The onsen is small but pleasant.
The room is spacious. Dinner is delicious. The futon is very comfortable to sleep.
Great ryokan experience. Food was great. Would recommend.
The ryokan is well sited for the centre of Takayama and a 10 min walk from the station. It’s a good experience if you want to do a Ryokan in Takayama
If visiting Japan then you can't not stay in a traditional Ryokan for at least part of your stay! This one is ideally situated about a 10 minute flat walk from the train station (so very easy for visiting other local towns like Hida Furukawa like we did) and a few minutes walk to the pedestrianised streets with their wooden traditional buildings
We asked for 2 each so were a bit thicker than normal and we slept surprisingly well on them! We had the traditional Kaiseki meal the first night in our room, lots of small courses and we both found something that we liked and was very tasty

On November 3rd, 6 people from 3 generations took care of us. The gradation of the trees was very beautiful and the open-air bath was the best
Stayed in this hotel for two nights. Although the breakfast set is good, the croissant is delicious 😋 The dinners were good for both nights, but the hot springs were a bit small
The waiters in the restaurant were lovely and the manager of the hotel was outstanding. He even came onto our bus to say goodbye and thanks the next morning
Stay was good, very little options for dinner. We went up during the off season so I’m not sure what to expect during peak times. Staff very friendly.
food was good Everyone left the room all at once surprised by the meal Only one elevator for that crowded without There were almost no products in the shop, so I couldn't enjoy it Onsen was good
Of course, there was no convenience store or anything, but there was a Nescafe machine in the lounge that I could use anytime, and I was very satisfied with the complimentary alcohol. Thank you for your help again

The rooms are spacious and full of Zen, with magnificent views of the Northern Alps outside the window, beautiful in every season. ♨️ Ultimate Hot Spring Experience The onsen experience here is simply perfect
Not one of the best when compared to other hot spring hotel/ryokan
🌿 A Secluded Paradise in Okuhida Mountains The moment I stepped into Okuhida Sakurakan, I was captivated by its authentic old folk-house architectural style and the rich scent of wood
The best onsen ryokan I’ve ever been to. If I could gatekeep this place, I would! Love every part of it, so zen so clean and quiet. The food is amazing especially the beef
The environment is great. Very quiet... the food is also good.
The onsen is amazing, they have public and private indoor and outdoor onsens, you don’t even have to worry about not getting the private onsen slots. Love the outdoor onsen the most! I will be back next year :)

First time giving a 5 star rating. Professional customer service and customer service. It's been a while since I've had a hotel like this. It's great that even the young people are well educated
The hotel has a very Japanese vibe. The room was quite spacious, a mix of Japanese and Western styles. In the evening, there was sake available, which created a wonderful atmosphere
The staff were all very nice, and the location was excellent, right next to the old town
I specifically came to see the Takayama Festival this time, and coincidentally, there were several floats parked right outside the hotel entrance for everyone to admire
They have a pub with live music in the evening, which is a nice touch. The rooms are pretty standard but have a certain quality to them
What was especially amazing was that the "bad points" mentioned in the reviews of the person who stayed a month before my stay were brilliantly corrected

A small but clean hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast includes coffee, bread, boiled eggs, and soup. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the old town, yet in a quieter area
Perfect little hotel at a walkable distance from both the town center and the train station. Good service, cozy room, clean and convenient.
Although the hotel is a bit old, it was very clean and the service was quite warm. The breakfast was a simple buffet, but enough to fill you up. The hotel also offers free bicycle rentals
The room exceeded my expectations. It was listed as 9 square meters when I booked, but after checking in, I could easily fit two 26-inch suitcases without hindering movement
It's about a 10-minute walk from Takayama Station, and there are many restaurants nearby, making it quite convenient
Although the hotel is a bit old, the rooms are still quite clean and more spacious than typical business hotels

They were very kind and helpful, and although I was a bit nervous as it was my first time traveling with a dog, I had a really good time!!! I have fond memories of it. Thank you so much🙇♀️
Me and my fiance stayed for 2 nights. We did not bring our dogs, but enjoyed the stay very much! Both the breakfast buffet and the dinner was tasty and varied
The building and facilities are old, but you can stay with your dog, eat meals together, and there is a dog run, so I think it is very good for traveling with dogs.
The private onsen was also nice and the staff were very friendly to us. We took the bus for hiking, which was no problem Would definitely recommend for any dog lovers!
There are many types of rooms to choose from, such as a stone pool or a hinoki wood pool. The staff were very helpful even though they couldn't communicate in English. Dinner is a dinner course served in sequence
We took japanese style bedroom but the futons were super thin so uncomfortable. The private onsen was a bit smelly making the experience less enjoyable. For the travel to reach the place, we struggle little to go by bus
