Best Hotels in Takayama

Stayed at a resort hotel with excellent value for money! Even though it's located in the mountains, there's a shuttle bus every hour from the alpine station that doesn't require a reservation (and also departs from the hotel)

The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection of both Japanese and Western dishes. The rooms are spacious, though a little dated. The onsen (hot spring) experience was fantastic, especially the one on the 5th floor

The hotel offers a shuttle service, which was great. We arrived early and were able to check in ahead of time. It was incredibly relaxing to soak in the hot spring while enjoying the snowy views

The service was excellent, and the breakfast was quite abundant

And I must mention the huge open-air hot spring! Although it was a bit cold outside in winter, soaking in the warm hot spring while enjoying the snowy scenery was quite an experience

The window view is stunning, offering a beautiful sight of the snow-capped mountains. There are many outdoor hot spring pools, about six or seven, and they are wonderfully relaxing

Views from this hotel of mountains are beautiful. If you need cash in Japan, you must got to the post office. Stayed in Japanese style room, would recommend the experience. They do have Western style rooms

This hotel is a 10-minute walk from the west exit of Takayama Station. If you have luggage, you can take the hotel's shuttle bus, which is very convenient for both trains and the Nohi bus

The hotel service was also excellent, and they even gave us discount coupons for the neighboring product hall

Very good onsen hotel, with 2 type of onsen available in the hotel , the basement onsen is more luxury and modern where the ground floor one is more vintage and old school. Easy access to shirakawa & shinhotaka ropeway.

We visited the Shinhotaka Ropeway and Shirakawa-go, and it was great to return to the hotel and relax in the hot springs. Compared to the onsen hotels in Gero, this hotel is more modern, and the breakfast is better

Excellent location with lots of good restaurants around. Booked the Japanese & Western style room with private bath. Having a living room with tatami matts & sitting furniture was a nice touch

The open-air jacuzzi on the rooftop is incredibly relaxing, especially soaking in it during winter – it's fantastic! The service is also excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit

The location is good and sightseeing is within walking distance. The hotel is old but clean, and there are two large public baths, including the rooftop tub bath, which was very pleasant

The room is good and clean just right for a solo traveler. The bed is okay (some might find it kind of hard), the only thing that bothered me is the pillow, it’s hard so it is difficult to sleep

This Hotel is located just opposite of the Takayama JR Train Station it’s very good location to travel around thec city of Takayama and close to convenience store FamilyMart

The location is very convenient just right in front of the train and bus station. There’s a large public bath on the 2nd floor, the amenities are all good and you can also borrow a hair straightener while staying

The single room was a bit too small for three people, so two rooms were just right. The hotel thoughtfully arranged two adjacent rooms at the end of the hallway, which was convenient for us to visit each other

There's a bathtub, and it wasn't crowded, which was very relaxing. I wasn't really used to the breakfast; it was a Japanese-style breakfast with rice, which I found a bit unfamiliar

Close to the Takayama station, clean, abundant breakfast and beautiful onsen. Loved the tatami mats in the entire hotel and the shoes off policy. The onsen is the best part! Would return to this hotel.

enjoyed our stay in takayama ouan with my family! the rooms are spacious for japan standards and i like how the hotel is full tatami so we can comfortably walk around barefoot or with just socks! free socks provided and unlimited pillows

The hotel is at the another side of train station , around 15mins walk to the main shopping street , unexpectedly there is hot stone bath available in the hotel, got free massage chair for to use, room is clean , staffs are friendly

The semi-double room was slightly small, it was hard to walk in the room with our luggages laid out. The bed was clean and comfortable. The toilet was also clean and has hot water

The room was clean, and everything felt so miniature and cute. The price was decent for a single room. I went to the open-air private bath, which was very relaxing~ They even had ice cream! The staff were very friendly

Free parking — the car park is right in front of the hotel’s main entrance, very convenient for drivers. The three‑bed room was enough for our family (2 adults, a 12‑year‑old, a 9‑year‑old, and a 5‑year‑old)

The quality of the hotel is very high. It's conveniently located near the train station and a 15 minute walk to the old town. The spa is really nice, clean, and spacious. The family spa is a nice touch

I stayed for a night. The hot spring and breakfast were my highlights during the stay. The room door doesn't lock automatically so I had to lock it up with a key by myself. It was a bit of a hassle but overall good.

Its a small hotel located with a distance from the city. It's a good choice for those who want a quite environment. Free hot spring pool until 2am. The only problem is the last shuttle back to hotel depart 19:30

This time we are traveling by car, so it is very convenient to stay in the mountains. The hotel provides free parking spaces and a large parking lot, so there is no need to worry about not having parking spaces

There is a shuttle bus from the west exit of Takayama Station to the hotel, which takes 7-10 minutes. It is very convenient. The hotel hot spring is great.

That's it! It's 12m sq but super cheap so if u want a clean space to sleep in between your touring and keen to save cash, then this place is for you. We would stay here again for the price and location

Location is good, just opposiite JR Takayama & Nohi bus centre. The hotel is pretty old, still using key to access the room

They have heater inside, clean toilet, and clean towels and beds. The room smell bad because the room that i got is a smooking room, but it didn't affect my satisfactions

You're required to leave your key at the reception whenever you leave the room and need to collect it when you're back. No coffee provided in the room

Bus station is just nearby to bring us to Shingawago. Breakfast is excellent, will choose this hotel if we come back

This is the best value hotel I've ever stayed at. It's less than a 10-minute walk from the JR station – just turn right, walk straight, cross the street at the traffic light, and keep going straight

It was a good and uncomplicated stay

There was a wardrobe and pajamas, which you could use for hot springs. The room was very clean, and toiletries like toothbrushes could be picked up in the lobby, where you could also choose your preferred pillow

The room was actually warm enough even without the heater on; I turned it on the first night and woke up feeling too hot, so I didn't use it on subsequent nights. Breakfast was surprisingly varied and delicious

If you're visiting in winter, I highly recommend this place – Shirakawa-go (Gassho-zukuri village) in the snow is absolutely beautiful. All in all, this is the most cost-effective hotel I've ever experienced

The room was much more spacious than I expected, with plenty of space to open two large suitcases. The hygiene was excellent, and they even provided pajamas

Very good location. Very near to Takayama station and bus staion to Shirakawa-go. Have Jacuzzi and sauna room for relaxing. Good breakfast.

It's also not far from Takayama Old Town, just a leisurely stroll away. There are many good restaurants nearby as well. The Hida beef soba noodle shop next door was particularly delicious

The front desk service was poor, the hallway was a mess with shoes everywhere, and the food wasn't good. Compared to other onsen hotels in Hirayu, you can really see the difference.

The room was quite small but all the amenities is good. there's onsen (which i didnt explore) but you can basically monitor everything from the tv, to check if the laundry is currently used or if the onsen is crowded

The hotel is far from central area of Takayama. If you are going for ski it’s good to stay there. If you ignore the location rests are good. You can have the welcome drink from 5 pm to 7pm

Location is not close to train station buy they have shuttle which goes from and to hotel quite often. There’s one family mart across the hotel which is quite helpful because there’s no other restaurant nearby!

We stayed here for one night to experience a Japanese Ryokan and to make use of the onsen. This is a small, family-run Ryokan. On arrival, you are given a kimono and slippers to wear, as no shoes are allowed inside

Very nice traditional riokan near the downtown of Takayama. Rooms are big and the kaiseki dinner is good. Staff is very kind and friendly and speaks some English. The onsen is small but pleasant.

The ryokan is well sited for the centre of Takayama and a 10 min walk from the station. It’s a good experience if you want to do a Ryokan in Takayama

If visiting Japan then you can't not stay in a traditional Ryokan for at least part of your stay! This one is ideally situated about a 10 minute flat walk from the train station (so very easy for visiting other local towns like Hida Furukawa like we did) and a few minutes walk to the pedestrianised streets with their wooden traditional buildings

We asked for 2 each so were a bit thicker than normal and we slept surprisingly well on them! We had the traditional Kaiseki meal the first night in our room, lots of small courses and we both found something that we liked and was very tasty

We stayed at Tsuboiwa Deluxe Suite. I was able to relax in a large and clean room with a sense of cleanliness. It was good that multiple face towels were prepared

A very comfortable hotel, it is about a 10-minute walk to the old JR station, Takayama Old Street and Miyagawa Morning Market. I was very happy to be able to see the taro flowers in Miyagawa in late April.

First time in Takayama and wanted to try staying in Ryohan style hotel; took about 6 mins walk from Takayama station to hotel; not obvious to find the main door; no lift but staff will carry the luggages to room for us; love the free breakfast and unlimited choice of tea to consume throughout the day; comfortable bed and clean room; impressed with 2 sinks and space there but the shower area is quite...

Also, because it was winter, I was very grateful that the water from the humidified air purifier was already in it. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity

On November 3rd, 6 people from 3 generations took care of us. The gradation of the trees was very beautiful and the open-air bath was the best

Stayed in this hotel for two nights. Although the breakfast set is good, the croissant is delicious 😋 The dinners were good for both nights, but the hot springs were a bit small

The hotel has a very Japanese vibe. The room was quite spacious, a mix of Japanese and Western styles. In the evening, there was sake available, which created a wonderful atmosphere

I specifically came to see the Takayama Festival this time, and coincidentally, there were several floats parked right outside the hotel entrance for everyone to admire
