We informed reception using a translated message. Due to the language barrier, the staff member apologised and shrugged, and no further action was taken. It was late evening and there was only one staff member on duty.
Aside from this, the hotel is okay for a short stay, but we wouldn’t return. The room felt tired overall, and while the sheets were clean, the duvet had stains.
Overall I recommend!
I was also surprised to find myself in a smoking room, and the smell lingered throughout the entire floor, which wasn’t pleasant. That said, I did sleep well. There’s a floor with laundry machines, vending machines, and a microwave, which was convenient.
Just outside the station, there are a few small shops and casual eateries that serve good, reasonably priced food—many places even offer whale dishes, which is unique to the region.
Transportation note: Shimonoseki Station is on the JR Sanyo Main Line, offering direct access to cities like Kokura (just one stop away) and other parts of Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The hotel was chosen because of its location and type. All business hotels are plus-minus the same, but that one was even better than usual ones.
Location: 4 minuted walk to Shimonoseki station (and maybe 12 to a ferry terminal) with a range of buses, a shopping center and several convenience stores.
Absolutely costs its money. My choice for next stops at Shimonoseki.
