If I'm solely going for a hot spring experience, I'd definitely choose this place again; the water quality is excellent. The breakfast offers a good variety, and the taste is decent. It's a bit far from the city center, but a 100 RMB taxi ride usually covers most dining spots.

I booked a full board package. The location is conveniently located near to the Hell valley tourist spots. Pick up from the Beppu station was punctual and drop off after check out to station makes travel relaxing. Room was extremely spacious and environment was tranquil. Food was good, both dinner and breakfast. Facilities were also great!

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Beppu! The views are absolutely stunning, with rooms nestled halfway up the mountain offering panoramic sea and cityscapes. Having an open-air bath right in the room, where you can soak while enjoying the scenery, is incredibly relaxing.

The hotel is within walking distance of several 'hell' attractions, which is super convenient. If you're heading to Fukuoka Airport, the airport bus stop is less than a 10-minute walk away.

The service is also quite attentive. From the moment you enter, several staff members greet you, guide you to the check-in area, and then escort you to your room for a room tour.

Dinner and breakfast were good; perhaps not the absolute best 'one-night, two-meals' experience I've had in Japan, but still very decent.

The room was incredibly spacious, with clearly defined areas including both Western and Japanese-style living rooms. Plus, it came with its own small indoor and outdoor hot spring baths!

We opted for Japanese cuisine for both breakfast and dinner, and it was absolutely fantastic—so rich, delicious, and nutritious. It truly exceeded our expectations!

I genuinely enjoyed most of my stay at this hotel and was quite happy with the trip—until the moment I checked out. The customer service I received at the front desk was shockingly poor and completely overshadowed what had otherwise been a pleasant visit.

When settling the bill, I asked the lady at the desk if I could pay by scanning a QR code. She placed a PayPay QR code in front of me. I then politely asked (in English) if they also accepted Rakuten Pay. She seemed unsure, so I repeated the question. Before the first staff member could even answer, a second woman (standing next to her) suddenly grabbed the PayPay sign, slammed it back down in front of me, and snapped in heavily accented English: “Japanese bank only.”

I was taken aback but calmly replied, “But… isn’t Rakuten Pay a Japanese bank?” She completely ignored me, turned away, and started pretending to be busy with paperwork.

I wasn’t even speaking to her in the first place. For a second staff member to aggressively interrupt, speak to a paying guest so condescendingly, and essentially tell a foreigner “we only accept Japanese payment methods” (in a tone that made it very clear she resented dealing with non-Japanese guests) is absolutely unacceptable—especially at a high-end onsen ryokan where customers pay a premium.

This single interaction left me feeling unwelcome in what should have been a relaxing, hospitable environment. It completely soured an otherwise wonderful stay in Beppu. I wish I’d had time to speak to a manager on the spot, but I had a train to catch.

Beautiful property, but until the front desk learns basic courtesy toward international guests, I can’t recommend it. A real shame.

The hotel is conveniently located right next to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell). We booked half board, and the teppanyaki wagyu dinner was delicious. Both the Japanese and Western breakfast options were good. The hot springs were also very relaxing. My family all felt it offered great value for money.

I stayed at Liguanfang for two consecutive nights, so I'd like to share my experience. From a location perspective, it's incredibly convenient, with several hot spring 'hells' in Kannawa just a five-minute walk away. Getting to and from the airport via the express bus is also very easy, and if you have a lot of luggage, they can even arrange delivery to the station. Regarding the environment, it's elegant, and there weren't many guests during my stay, so it was generally quiet. As for the room facilities, the hot spring water was exceptional – truly worthy of Kannawa Onsen, one of Beppu's Eight Hot Springs. The water was much better than another hotel I stayed at in Beppu; my skin felt noticeably smoother after soaking. From a food perspective, it was good. However, since I also stayed at another hotel in Beppu, the food here was slightly inferior by comparison, but still worth experiencing. Overall, it's an excellent onsen ryokan that's definitely worth a return visit!

The room was decent, and the shower and bathtub area was quite spacious. Both the set menu for breakfast and dinner were good, and the service was attentive. I feel like the private rooms at this hotel might be even better.

This was the only hotel we stayed at in Beppu, and the ambiance was wonderful. It was also conveniently located for exploring the various local hot springs. A huge plus was the hotel's shuttle service to Beppu Station, which made getting around incredibly easy. We were also delighted to find two staff members who spoke Chinese. Both the meals and the onsen experience truly exceeded our expectations.
