While Shin-Omiya Station isn't a major station, it stops at almost all trains to Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto, except for the limited express trains which require an extra fare. My trip to Nara with my mom and sister was very close to Nara Kintetsu Station and the shopping street. There was a Starbucks and the shopping street downstairs.
