The room, Seiran, overlooked a Japanese garden, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Those who appreciate traditional Japanese houses will find this a truly satisfying experience. Breakfast, enjoyed amidst the beautiful garden views, was a perfect way to start the day. The hostess was incredibly kind and attentive; I'll definitely bring friends back next time.

The small town of Otsu is a place I really love. It's quiet, not crowded with tourists, and right next to Lake Biwa. The tea room in the common area is beautiful, with a small garden, and the public bathroom is very clean. The only downside is that the all-wooden townhouses have almost no sound insulation, so I wouldn't recommend it for those who have trouble sleeping.

Inase is a really amazing and beautiful place. If you're looking for peace after spending time in Kyoto or other big cities, it's the best place to get a rest. Staff is very polite and friendly, breakfast is delicious, and the garden inside is beautiful. We had some troubles with the luggage, but they helped us to deal with it, so grateful for that. Clean, friendly, comfort and convenient location!

This is a Japanese-style B&B with a great atmosphere. It is said that it was a granary a hundred years ago and was later converted into a B&B. The floor makes a creaking sound when you step on it. I had a fantasy in my mind about whether the black coal balls described by Hayao Miyazaki would appear in the same way. I walked around barefoot, without a speck of dust. Very clean and tidy

The homestay has done a great job in every detail. There are two places that left a particularly deep impression on me. The first picture is a hot water bottle stuffed into the bed. In fact, the air conditioner was set to over 20 degrees in advance, which was already very warm. Sometimes, a little bit of excessive service can really touch people's hearts. The staff were friendly, spoke fluent English, and check-in was quick. The room was fully equipped, the washing machine even had laundry beads, and the bathroom had a dryer and plenty of clothespins – very thoughtful touches. Staying here for a marathon was very convenient, as it's close to the finish line and registration venue.

The room size is amazing for the price! Love the water pressure and small but great to have balcony. The beds were also very comfortable.

This was one of our favorite stays in Japan. Our room was clean, organized and a great size! The beds were super comfy and we had great sleeps. The area is quiet and is close to a quaint river. We used their luggage delivery service as we arrived in Kyoto before check in. Their office is about a 5 minute walk from Kyoto station, and you can drop your luggage off and they will deliver it to your hotel...

The location is truly excellent — the metro is just 1 minute away, several bus lines are nearby, and it’s easy to walk to most central attractions. Best hostel ever. This place made my stay in Kyoto so special, I literally felt like I was staying at a loved one’s house. The owner cooks an amazing and thoughtful breakfast every morning, the staff is very kind, and the dorm was comfortable. The location is perfect— close to many Kyoto landmarks but not too touristy or crowded. Also Jiro was a lovely host :)

This is my favorite B&B during my ten-day trip to Japan. The location is great, the architecture is elegant Japanese-style, the beds are large and comfortable, and the roommates are all very quiet. I would like to praise the owner 👍. They provide free breakfast, which is super delicious and especially rich with a variety of fruits. I think it's great value and highly recommended!!!

Had a great stay here with my family. Very comfortable and pretty traditional japanese setting. Had a nice experience! Our hosts were very kind and helpful. You couldn't find better hosts and caretakers! A little far from the bus stop and rest of town but results in a nice walk through the residential neighborhood. Only about 13 mins to the bus stop to town.

A different stay in Kyoto, away from the crowds, in the mountain. The rooms are bigger than the standard Japanese, and the hosts are very friendly. There is a 10' walk until the closest bus station, and when it is hot it can be a bit harder, but nothing crazy.

Very far from the center and bus station. But very kind staff. When we were here it was very cold weather, so the toilet and bathroom on the terrace didn't good. But in warm weather must be nice with amazing view.

This is a dormitory-style guesthouse next to Kyoto University, not a youth hostel, which is also its charm in my opinion. Living here requires consideration for others and certain climbing skills. In short, whether the accommodation is good or not depends mainly on the roommate, which is a matter of luck and probability. The store itself has done its best.

Clean and nice hostel in a quiet area. A bit far from the center, but there is a metro station nearby. Also nearby is a supermarket. I liked the room for 4 guests and the spacious common area. Showers and toilets are in good condition.

The futons, shared spaces, and bathrooms were clean, the room was warm, and there were plenty of handy things like tissues and hairdryers, so I had a comfortable stay. The Guesthouse was very clean and all ammenaties available to use. The location was absolutely fantastic close to the city and very close to the train station. I enjoyed my stay and if I was in the Kyoto area I would probably stay there again.

Great location, close to restaurants, shops and temples. Neighborhood has a really lovely feel especially with all the tea houses nearby. The room was large and relatively quiet. We did experience a problem with the hot water one day and couldn't shower as a result, however it was solved by the owners that same day. Would recommend for those wanting to be close to the action in Gion!

Very affordable place! We were, however, in a room on the first floor, and could hear every step that anyone took in the room above us (including kids running around). We could also hear the parents yelling. So, just be aware that sounds from other rooms may be an issue. Luckily, the family upstairs left after our first night and sound want an issue after that. The toilet was in a room in the hallway...

I give them a 10/10 rating, but I should mention one issue. I paid tax twice—the staff asked for a tax payment, even though the online payment I made earlier already included taxes. This was a bit disappointing

The beds were incredibly comfortable, the common lounge was exceptionally luxurious, and the restrooms were very well-maintained. The only downside was the location, as it's a bit far from the subway line.

Lovely hostel with clean and comfortable amenities, fresh towels provided daily and located in a very central area near bus stops, subway station and Gion. Our only hiccup was the dryer on the 4th floor not being able to dry our clothes too well. Not a big deal, the laundromat across the street is extremely well kept and useful. Although everything is shared, the space was clean, even the restroom. There is a bathtub so if you are lucky no one is using it, you are free to do so. I just unfortunately have been assigned a bed that is beside the entrance so I wasn’t able to sleep immediately hearing the door slide every now and then. Also, I could hear every time others slide their curtains so it did take time before falling...

I stayed in the private rooms, so I am unaware of the true hostel experience here. The private rooms are very clean and modern, although they can be a bit cramped when all four bunks are occupied. They have a mini fridge with freezer, a microwave, and a water heater in the rooms. The public area is also very friendly and clean. No shoes allowed but they supply you with slippers.

This hostel was very close to the shops and very close to restaurants and cafes. Staff was very nice and accommodating while I visited Kyoto. The rooms for resting was clean, with AC. The bathrooms and toilets are very clean ! There is a rest area at the 3 floor where you can rest, there is also a big kitchen and fridges. Overall, highly recommended

Aromatherapy stay. Just lovely. I’ve and close to attractions and one of the best locations in Kyoto. Rooms are bright, extremely clean, love the smells of essential oils. Shops and food close close by. Great place and affordable.

This was definitely a highlight. The bathhouse is a bit small but when you have it to yourself it is amazing. Area is pretty good, close to the market. Staff are really helpful and even let me check in early! Just the facilities are a bit old but that's what the experience is for ig.

Your hotel's service is seriously problematic. Other hotels provide check-in information and passwords three days in advance, but your hotel staff kept insisting that they would only provide them upon check-in. By the time I arrived on check-in day, I had already left, and your hotel staff kept giving me nonsensical requests for check-in information! After confirming that the information was correct...

Both the interior and exterior of the building are very stylish. The room was spacious and relaxing as there was no UB. The sound of doors opening and closing and footsteps walking down the hallway were quite audible, but the rules regarding shower usage times and playing music in the room were clearly written in the notices, so I thought I could stay comfortably.

This is a very unique hotel. It has no central heating, making it impossible to sleep in the evenings and at night. Lovely little traditional Japanese wooden house turned hostel, they have free porridge in the morning and little snacks and tea in the relaxing area. Room was clean and comfortable and the price was fantastic.

The walls in the room were like cardboard—very thin. The glass facing the street made everything very loud, including people walking above. When booking, specify that you want a room away from the entrance, otherwise you'll hear everyone coming and going. The room only had a toilet and sink. The shower, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and kitchenette were shared. You could get tea and coffee for free...

Great house, very convenient to check in. Very private and affordable! The bed is very comfortable, all kinds of facilities are very complete, free tea is available 24 hours a day, and the owner is attentive and enthusiastic.
