Sakaihama Rakuten Onsen Shofuku in Sakai

Where to start? I don't know why it has a lower rating, but this place is fantastic!
We went on a Saturday late morning, and it did get busier in the afternoon. Very big and clean place, with lots of activities and free wifi! The beanbag beds are THE BEST! I thought our food was very decent considering we were a captive customer!
You can rent towels and lounge wear after you get your shoes put away.
The baths are gender separated, but you can mingle in the lounge, dry saunas, and restaurant. They have hair services, and you can also book a massage appointment (additional fee). There's no time limit, so you can literally spend the whole day there napping and soaking, eating, and repeat. You're given a wristband, and everything, including the restaurant and drink machines, will be scanned into your tab, payable when you leave. Shampoo and soap provided, as well as hair dryers. There's also an outdoor section where you can soak...probably best in winter!
The only minor issue is that this is such a local place that no one speaks English, so prepare to use your phone app. I don't think they get enough foreign visitors to warrant English menus or explanation cards.
And finally, NO TATTOOS!!

In other onsens, there are less tvs and the TVs are not as loud. It's gorgeous and extremely relaxing, even cool for a day long experience, but the televisions are not relaxing. Additionally, there are facility wide announcements every 15-30min. which are extremely loud.

The onsens are wonderful,the outdoor space is gorgeous. There are so very many options! Enjoy the day!

Wonderful onsen with full amenities,multiple types of resting rooms, restaurants (extra), and spa treatments (extra).

Almost all the staff don't speak English so get your online translator ready and be patient with the staff. Despite this, the receptionist was very helpful and led me around the facility and we communicated via Google translator. The signs around the building does have some English but very sparingly. Photos is discouraged of the interior.

To start: check in at the front, they will give a shoe locker key that is your bar code for any additional services. The next desk is to check out towels and robes (optional). Once you're done with that, the bath houses are on the 2nd floor, separated by gender. Do note that this is a completely nude onsen that may allow bathing suits (I didn't notice anyone with bathing suits without staring so ask the desk).

If you book spa services and massage services:
The spa services (eg the exfoliating scrub bath) is done completely naked in a separate room within the bathhouse. I booked this online but do note the website Japanese and no English language available. No payment needed on booking. Massage therapies are downstairs before the bottom restaurant. Check in on time.

Restaurants are on the first and second floor. Huge menus with pictures but no English.

For the women's bathhouse, there were multiple pools of varying temperatures. Some pools also had jets for some aqua massage therapy. A couple of pools also have different colored pool, I'm assuming it has different minerals as they also smell a little more medicinal. There are also stone pools outside and past the inner pools. Do note you have to wash prior to getting into any body of water. The bath has sitting showers with detachable shower heads, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, mirror and a stool to sit on.

I reserved the 90min scrub and a 90min Japanese massage. After soaking in the bath, I went in the exfoliating room at the time of my appointment. The room holds 3 beds though it was only me and another lady at the time of my appointment. They cover your eyes for majority of the time you're on the bed, so no one has eye contact. I gotta say, thank you to the Korean auntie who scrubbed me clean of all my dead skin cells with passion during my appointment. I felt extra soft and smooth after. If you've never had a Korean scrub, do note they go in HEAVY DETAIL. Almost every crevice is scrubbed. You get a very flimsy cover for your down bits, but the auntie does go pretty close to all crevices. If you need a less rough scrub, let the attendant know. I personally don't mind since these exfoliating scrubs are way more thorough than doing it yourself. Thoroughly enjoyed the cleaning and wish the American ones I've gone to were as affordable as this one.

For the Japanese massage. It has a mix of deep pressure and light pressure massage with some maneuvers. You could get sleepy doing it, but I doubt anyone would be able to sleep. I didn't request for a lady to do the massage, so a man did it. You can designate with extra fee. I didn't care. The massage is completely clothed and they even cover you with extra towels. The massage was relaxing and helped with some sore muscles. The masseuse was gentle when they needed to be gentle and powerful when they needed. For this massage, they do ask where you don't want to be touched, so let them know if You're uncomfortable being touched pretty close to your bits. Don't know about the other massages.

Food wise, I bought a set plate in the bottom restaurant. Some of the flavors I wasn't familiar with but they still tasted good. Water/tea is self serve and you call for service by a button on the table.

Really enjoyed my time here. It's probably more of a local attraction but I highly recommend their services and how much quieter this location is since it's a ways off the tourist track. There's even a gaming building beside the onsen building. Plenty of parking for cars and a bus stop right in front of the building block.

Wouldn't hesitate to come here again.

When we arrived in Japan from the US, we wanted to start the trip with a visit to a local Japanese onsen. We discovered this place and from the online information it seemed perfect - it was. Things to know if you are not accustomed to a local Japanese spa / this spa:

- No one at this spa spoke English. They were very kind and accommodating to us
Foreigners who knew nothing about onsen usage or beat practices. Google translate was a lifesaver.

-When we checked in we were given a wristband that we could scan for rental items (towels, facility clothing, food, etc.). When placed our shoes in a locker with the number that coordinated with the wrist band). Then we went to the rental counter to get towels. Later we went to the same counter to get facility clothing (so we could access different parts of the facility). From there we were taken to the changing rooms which were connected to the onsens

-This is a traditional onsen, which means no clothing. Wash/rinse before you enter the baths. Keep your hair out of the water. There are no coed bathing pools.

-There are many offerings at this spa: the baths, salt sauna, dry sauna, relaxation rooms, yoga classes, massage services ($), a salon ($), and a restaurant ($). There is also a capsule hotel that you can stay in for a very good fare! The stay includes access to the facility.

-Entry fee is very affordable making it accessible to many. Massage and salon services were reasonably priced - definitely priced for locals.

We loved this experience and hope to enjoy it again in the future!

Nice relaxing place with good price, clean, staffs are very kind and helpful. Easy to come by bus from the station.
The onsen is amazing, there are many types of bath, all are beautiful and relaxing. Amenities are high quality.
You can also get a free bus ticket to the station when you go back.

So refreshing and relaxing, good place for spending time
